I cannot praise the staff in this care home too highly. My mother was a resident at Devonshire House for over 6 years . Despite having to work within the penny pinching Anchor regime the standard of care provided by the staff at the home was exceptional in every respect. Nothing was too much trouble and standards of care never dropped from an incredibly high level.

Corporate Anchor need to use some of the large cash surplus from last year to reward these staff in some way . They certainly go over and above and three of them attended mum's cremation service which meant so much to my sister and myself. We both are eternally grateful for the way in which you looked after our mum.

My Mum spent 6.5 very happy years in Devonshire House. During those years, every single member of staff, from admin, housekeeping, kitchen and care, all encouraged Mum to make the Home her home and live her life as independently as she wanted to.
The staff really cared for Mum, and their attention to accommodating her needs and wishes was amazing. Mum spent 6 years fully independent, but this year her physical health declined, and she passed away just over a week ago. During the last 3 months, I have spent most days at home with Mum, and I saw for myself the extra mile they all went to ensure that Mum knew she was valued, loved and respected. For the first time in her tenure, Mum needed a lot of physical and mental support. The whole team demonstrated how fond of Mum they were, how much they cared and ensured that she received the necessary clinical care from outside community nursing services. They advocated for Mum 24/7.

It is a truly amazing home for its residents.

It is a privilege to call Devonshire House a home for my Mum. The place itself is a joy to visit. The staff whether it be the caring, administrative, maintenance etc are all a pleasure to be around. My mum although stroppy at times, is really enjoying her time at Devonshire House. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their time and dedication to caring for my mum

My grandad was forced to move from previous carehome due to them closing. Devonshire House has been so supportive in granting him a move to them assisting is making sure he settled in well and couldn't have made the move any better. He is very happy there says the staff and food are really good. The staff ensured that what was a difficult time become a really easy transition. We are very happy that a 101yr old gentleman has found a new and comfortable place to be

My mother in law was at Devonshire house for just over 6 years on the Ryder unit, sadly passed away Oct 25.From day 1 we knew that this was the correct place for her. We were all made to welcome, no matter what time we went to visit, sometimes it was 8 o'clock in the evening.,
During her time there ALL the staff have become like extended family, not only carers but housekeeping and kitchen staff. They all work so extremely hard and go above and beyond.
They had organized a beautiful 'wedding vowel' renewal (fun and beautiful, with a local priest) for my in laws, also a huge family Diamond Wedding Anniversary meal for the whole family, 10 of us. Even time out of their weekend of to decorate the room for us,, For these things ànd numerous other events we will all be forever grateful. We as a family have made some amazing memories that the staff have made possible. Even being a massive support to my father in law, which helped take some of the pressure his children.

100% highly recommend

My Mother has been at Devonshire House for 30 months. It has become her home and she feels really safe, secure and well looked after. She loves the fact that the house is full of character and truly feels like an individual home with warmth and charm. The Carers are superb and always go the extra mile. It was recently my Mothers birthday and her room was decorated with banners and they even had a cake with a candle that they brought to her room. My Mother is treated with dignity and love which means everything.

The quality of the care here is really good, exceptional to be honest. My wife was here for six years and on the whole I feel it is good value for money. The home is spacious and always smells clean. The grounds are lovely in the summer and the residents enjoying using them. I've always enjoyed my visits here, I always feel comfortable and part of the family.

My mother has been at Devonshire House for around six months now and is very happy there. The proof of this is that after a recent hospital stay my mother told me that she was looking forward to going back 'home' to Devonshire House. This proved to me that she feels safe, secure and well cared here. My mother has a beautiful room with outstanding views to the garden. All of the team here are caring and friendly bar none. Mum has been in other care homes but if we were choosing again we would still pick Devonshire House. Bravo.

The staff are so very friendly and kind; the home is exceptional. The staff know all my family's names and my dog's name (who visits everyday and is always welcome) which makes my family and I feel very happy and content. As my husband can no longer live with me due to his health conditions, it really puts my mind at ease that I feel he is being looked after so well at Devonshire House.

Since my mother-in-law became a resident at Devonshire House in January 2025 - moving from a care home in the north-west of England - I have been constantly impressed with the quality of care, the exceptional standards of cleanliness and maintenance in a beautiful historic building and the attention to my mother-in-law's particular circumstances and needs. In the past she has not always found it easy to settle or make friends, but she has easily managed both in Devonshire House and we have seen her uncharacteristically willing and even eager to participate in activities and to socialise with her fellow residents. The staff have kept us well informed and could not have been more responsive.

The village of Cavendish is beautiful; likewise the grounds and gardens of Devonshire House, which can at need be enjoyed from inside the large conservatory. We visited a number of local care homes before settling on this one and we remain certain that we made the right choice.

I spent two weeks in respite care after a replacement hip operation. Everything impressed me in Devonshire House. The room, the beautiful garden and conservatory, the wide areas for eating and relaxing. Most of all however was the wonderful attention of the extremely caring staff, so kind and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. It really felt like home from home. I am very grateful.

My mother moved in in January and has been there for five months. The staff and standard of care appears to be excellent and my mother says she is very happy with the staff and care. The home looks and smells clean and the home has a number of different rooms for residents to relax in or do activities. Whenever I speak to my mother she always seems to have been engaged in some sort of activity so she is not bored. The gardens are lovely and when the weather is nice my mother enjoys sitting outside and there is a pleasant conservatory to sit in when the weather is less good.
My mother reports that the food is excellent and it appears that the menu has variety and the residents can offer suggestions.
The suite my mother is in is very roomy, has lovely views and good accessible shower and toilet.

the staff are always happy to take a phone to my mother wherever she is in the home when I call her, and are always polite and helpful. The combination of facilities and great staff make it.

My mother stayed for 2 weeks of respite care to allow me to go on a much-needed holiday. My mother had a lovely garden suite room with en-suite & small kitchenette area. My Mother was very appreciative of the level of care & attention she received. She enjoyed the meals & ate really well whilst she was there. The staff were all friendly & caring. The activities were well organised & my mother enjoyed herself. She came home looking bright & healthy. And, she is eager to return in September for another holiday! The Administrator, in particular, was very kind & patient in organising my mother's stay. The home is very clean, comfortable & the gardens are beautiful. Thank you for your care & attention. Much appreciated

My mum recently moved into Devonshire house, originally for 2 weeks respite as she was struggling at home. From the moment we first took her for a look around she fell in love with the place. Since being in Devonshire house my mum is really happy and cannot stop praising the staff and especially the food. If there is something that does not suit on the menu they are happy to cook an alternative.
The home is always very clean and tidy and other residents are also very happy.
All the staff are very friendly and very helpful whenever we visit. My Mum is enjoying herself so much that she has decided that she is definitely staying.

It is very comforting for us to know that my mum is being so well looked after 24hrs a day. Also a big thank you to her carer who has been really helpful and helped with any concerns that we did have.

This care home is amazing. My mum has recently taken residence at Devonshire House and the professionalism and knowledge of the staff has made this process less stressful. The care home is home from home actually probably better than home! Warm and cosy, spotlessly clean everywhere, no smells that you sometimes come across in some care homes. The catering is good, lovely home cooked food and as the chef walks through he checks everyone enjoyed their meal. The bedrooms are spacious with a large bathroom and modern shower. Cosy bed linens. To find somewhere so lovely for my mother after such a stressful time means I can finally get back to a life and routine again. Mum seems happy and settled and she seems very much at home. I can highly recommend Devonshire House with no hesitation.

My mother has been in Devonshire House since March 2024. The staff are all very caring and thoughtful. Mum says they look after her very well here. The food she says is good. It's a very happy place to be.

On a negative: I think more care should be taken in cleaning rooms. On occasion tops of furniture are not cleaned nor has any furniture been moved to clean under the bed or chest of drawers.
