In contrast with previous experiences of care homes, this was like moving my husband into a loving, caring family where his every need was anticipated and his personal feelings respected.
I have no concerns when I have to leave him after a visit.

Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5
Very poor service with regards to a resident with dementia. Home claims to be a specialist dementia care home, I have seen no evidence of this. My father has vascular dementia and unfortunately refuses personal care. Staff have not done anything about this and allowed him to become more and more
unkempt and sleep in filthy clothes. I have to provide this care when I visit. Last Saturday I discovered there is an NHS Intermediate Dementia Care Service for this type of situation, I have referred my father to them. Why didn't the staff at the home inform me of this service? Why have I had to find out about it and make the referral myself? They are not pro-active and I do not feel that they are especially 'caring'. Items also constantly go missing from his room and often cannot be found, item in point his wallet with money in it that was never found. Also, certain items of clothing go missing, he has no underpants, despite my writing his room number with a special pen on the labels of all his clothing.
Reply from Ancy, Deputy Manager at Ashley Court Care HomeThank you for your feedback. We have taken your comments on board and we will organise a meeting between yourself and the dementia specialist services who are currently supporting the home towards your father’s care and have been involved for a significant time, to ensure you are up to date with their input. I will be very grateful if you could approach us to make us aware of the items missing so we can assist with this matter.

A very efficiently run care home where my father feels very comfortable and well looked after. We are regular visitors to the home and the top floor projects a calm and positive atmosphere (which includes the activities team). The food always looks appetising and the tea and cakes are always welcome
when we visit. The only surprising issue is the lack of a Manager but I trust that will be resolved soon.

Excellent care and kindness showed to my mother during her rehab after a fall.
She was looked after by everyone with respect and a good manner and she enjoyed much laughter.
It was wonderful to be free to come and go, visiting her at any time of the day.
Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.825)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.825) out of 10 for Ashley Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 66 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 66 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.825 for Ashley Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (656 Excellents x 5) + (117 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 783 Ratings = 4.825
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashley Court Care Home is based on 66 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 66 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
