Our Mum went to stay at The Cedars in February. Its been awful not to see her for the past 10wks but the staff have gone above and beyond to keep us in contact with her. Mum does struggle with being in care but we know she's getting the best care, support and love that's possible in a care environment.
Massive thanks to all.

The staff at the home are so professional and caring towards both the residents and family members every time you see them or contact them by phone.
The care they deliver is exceptional in every way.
It is a wonderful feeling when you know your loved ones are safe and well when they can't be with
you.

This home is usually amazing but during the covid outbreak, it has been outstanding. My mum has been a resident for 9 years and is so well looked after and treated at all times with care and dignity. Thank you to all the staff for all that you do in keeping the residents safe and well.

Was very good for me. I am more confident now and I am walking with a stick (previously a frame but not confident). Now, on occasions, I walk short distances without a stick. I am aiming to try and get back home.

My Next of Kin has been at The Cedars for around 15 months, she settled in straight away and has never complained about anything. I recommended that she goes there and have no complaints what so ever, except sometimes laundry goes missing. The staff are very friendly, kind and caring and have always
been there whenever she's needed any extra help. I cannot thank them enough.

My friend is happy here. he was previously in a different care home, where he was not happy. The Cedars has a very warm welcoming atmosphere and seems to be a pleasant place for staff, residents and visitors alike. If ever I need to be in a care home, I would like it to be The Cedars.

My friend does not have any relatives and therefore friends visit her. We are all happy with the home and the way it is run. The staff are caring and do their best to meet the needs of the residents, a variety of activities are provided to stimulate the residents and one gets the feeling that it is
a happy home to live in.

My mum has been a resident at The Cedars now for a number of years. I have never had any concerns with the way in which she is cared for. She always looks happy and content when myself and family visit her. It was an extremely hard decision to place mum in a care home, but without the support of the
home, we would not have been able to care for her. Staff are amazing, as is the management. Thank you all for helping us and giving us peace of mind.

Recently my mother-in-law sadly passed away, the care and compassion the staff showed not only towards her but to us as a family is commendable. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, and it was very comforting for us as a family to know that genuine care was given to our loved one. I would like
to thank the home for the care, dignity and support that you gave to her, in her last days.

Having had experience of other care homes I have found The Cedars to be exceptionally good. The staff are very committed and work tirelessly to meet the needs of residents. My sister has Alzheimer's disease and what is really important to me is the way in which everyone at the home recognises and responds
to the person behind the illness. This makes her life (and mine!) as satisfying as it is able to be.

I regularly visit my nan at The Cedars and I feel as though I am part of the family, I am always made to feel welcome by staff on duty. My nan has lived at The Cedars for nearly 3 years and during that time we have both seen many changes, some good and some not so good. I feel that at present the home
has never been so good, it always looks clean and tidy. My nan always looks nice and presentable and I know the staff take time to sit with her and paint her nails which makes her feel good. I have stayed for Sunday lunch on the odd occasion and the meals have always been lovely. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the home to friends as I know their loved one would be well cared for.

I visit my brother on a weekly basis. I find he is happy, well cared for and apart from his general health all seems good to me. I feel that in the better weather he could perhaps spend a little time outdoors if possible, and that would lift his mood as he sometimes appears to be a little bored etc.

The Cedars pass all my expectation as care homes go. Staff and management are brilliant. It is just unfortunate that they were not capable of coping with Mum, having a lot of falls and refused to take her back on board.
Reply from Jane Garner, Manager at The CedarsThank you for taking the time to review The Cedars and we are pleased that you rate our facilities as excellent. We endeavour to meet the needs of all residents, however, when we can no longer do so and health professionals support this decision, we have to take the difficult decision to move a person to a more suitable care environment.

During the last year the staff are constant - not so many from bank, which is good. Complaints are taken in and sorted. All residents need someone from outside to check they are cared for properly. I couldn't fault Cedars. If I have in the past it's been sorted calmly.
Well done to all Cedars staff
during 2018!
Keep up the good work.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.753)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.753) out of 10 for The Cedars is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.753 for The Cedars is calculated as follows: ( (227 Excellents x 5) + (63 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 295 Ratings = 4.753
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Cedars is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
