My brother came to live in June 2021. The staff followed the Covid rules to the letter. I had some issues to start with, but in the end, he was well cared for, treated with respect and was given a dignified death.

Although staff are very busy, they are kind and considerate.

There is a cheerful atmosphere, and they have spotted several potential health issues which were quickly dealt with, either by their teams or by calling in the GP.

All the staff have always been very helpful with any questions I may have. They are very caring to my father, who has been residing at St Michael's Court since September 2021. At present, he is very needy, and everyone involved in his care has shown so much care and compassion.

Reply from Paul Vincent, Home Manager at St Michael's Court

Thank you, Diane, for your very kind comments. I am so happy that we are providing your dad with kind and compassionate care, and that we continue to provide this level of service throughout his stay, and we are always here if you need any advice or support.

Staff are always very helpful when I visit my dear friend. My experience of the home is I am always welcomed with a smile. Office staff are excellent, and it is very clean and tidy; always smells fresh and no smell of urine, which is excellent.

My frail 91-year-old dad has spent the last month at St Michael's Court, following a 4-week hospital stay where he was mostly confined to bed. We doubted that he would ever walk again, but thanks to the perseverance and encouragement of staff, he is now doing so. I visit him daily and have watched him getting physically stronger and cognitively better, and as a family, we are enormously grateful for the kindness shown to him by all the staff. As Dad has dementia, I have organised every aspect of his life for the last 3-years and have an in-depth knowledge of his medical and care requirements. I have been surprised at how quickly the carers have got to know him, recognise and understand his needs. The managers have taken into account my suggestions (usually designed to replicate what Dad has been used to at home), I know from how he is being cared for that this information has been disseminated. Dad is content, well-fed, clean, stimulated, feels safe and is treated with respect and dignity.

Our only experience in the last nine months has been via Zoom meetings in the last few weeks. From what we have seen in these limited sessions is that he appears to have been kept in good health, bearing in mind his condition. It's unfortunate that he does not relate to the tablet for Zoom, but that is not St Michael's fault - they do their best in the circumstances.

It's about time I wrote a review... my mum has been at St Michael's for 7 years now, there may have been some issues over the years, but nothing that would get me thinking about taking her somewhere else. The staff have kept me informed about Mum's well being and any issues they have phoned me straight away. I used to take Mum out every week, and I could discuss with staff how Mum has been, a very open chat with a cup of tea. Since this Covid pandemic, I have only visited twice in the last year, but I still phone regularly, probably too regularly, and get a friendly conversation with the manager or carers about Mum. I have also had Zoom meetings to talk to Mum, although Mum wonders where I am... I cannot praise the staff enough in this toughest of years and the dedication and going above and beyond the call of duty has been amazing. Thank you all. I know Mum is well looked after, and I am more than happy for her to stay there receiving the care and love of the carers and management.

My mother was looked after by caring and loving staff, who were looking after her because they wanted to, rather than simply because it was their job. All of the staff that I met were kind, compassionate, knowledgeable and helpful.

My brother has been treated as a true member of the St Michael’s family and received nursing care above and beyond that which would be found in many other homes. I can only thank all the staff for their caring dedication and professionalism, which extended his life expectancy. He has been treated with respect and understanding. The whole team work together to provide an excellent package of physical, mental and stimulating care. Activities are always fun, and the individual encouraged to express themselves. It is good to know that our loved ones are in safe hands.

My parents have only been in St Michael's Court for a couple of weeks; and it has been during lock-down. It is not really applicable for me to answer the following questions, because we have not been able to visit since they moved in - hence I have answered them all with satisfactory. From phone calls it would appear that every effort is being made to accommodate their needs.

I visited my wife for the last time in March in her room. Then the Coronavirus came and the care home was closed for visitors but I can inform you that the staff are competent, friendly and helpful. On Saturday 11th July I could visit my wife in the garden and that was also well organised.

My mother has been a resident for over 2 years and views St Michael's Court as her home, and always says how blessed she is to be there, and how lovely and kind all the staff are to her. My mother settled in very quickly and her room is light and bright and overlooks the garden which she enjoys.
