My dad has recently been moved to Waterfield House.
Within 2 weeks, I have noticed a difference. He is no longer bedridden like he was in the other home, and he is enjoying food again.
Waterfield House is very welcoming/clean, and the staff who I've met are lovely.
I hope my dad really thrives here
as he deserves it.

My dad got to go to this lovely care home 2 weeks ago. I was so happy for him. When me and my sister visited him, the staff were so lovely and friendly. The place is amazing, looks like a hotel, not a care home, very posh and looks great in the rooms and reception rooms. People are very friendly & nice.
I think my dad will be happy with this one. The staff who look after him are great. Thank you very much for everything you all do. xxx

After suffering a stroke and spending 7 weeks in hospital my 92-year-old father came to reside at Waterfield House. Unfortunately his stay was to be far shorter than we had anticipated, however, for the short period of his stay he was always treated with kindness, courtesy and compassion. The carers
were unfailingly helpful and considerate to Dad's needs. Had Dad been more able I'm sure he would have enjoyed and participated in the various activities on offer, my sister and I were impressed with the activity team who always seemed to be organising something for the residents.

My dear mum was at Waterfield House for a year and eight months until she sadly passed away in July. The care my mum received was amazing. All the staff are so dedicated and caring and looked after my mum so well. The staff are all friendly and do such an amazing job. The atmosphere in the care home
is excellent, all the staff are very welcoming. Thank you so much Waterfield House staff for your true dedication.

My mum has been at Waterfield House for 2 years now and overall I’ve been very happy. But over the last 6 months, I feel something has gone wrong and feel quite frustrated and let down! The decor upstairs is very poor and in my opinion, is not Dementia friendly! I feel the home is very short staffed
and the staff are pushed to their limits. I visit my mum every other day and if I didn’t go, I know for sure that she wouldn’t be eaten probably! As there is never enough staff to sit and encourage mum to eat. And her personal needs are not always met, and on many occasions, I’ve had to deal with it myself.
There is nowhere upstairs that I feel is a nice place to sit with mum to have a chat and cuppa. I always take mum downstairs to the cafe, but sometimes that’s not always possible as activities are taking place. In my personal view, some parts of the upstairs feel like it’s God's waiting room!

Both my parents are residents in a flat in Waterfield House. They both have complex needs. They are extremely well looked after, carers are kind, supportive and helpful. Their flat and Waterfield House are kept clean on a daily basis and the garden is always looked after and is an appealing place to
sit on warm days. Activities are inclusive and well run with residents enjoying them. Senior staff and managers are informed, always approachable and put themselves out to liaise with relatives and residents.

Overall I'm happy with my Mum's care - the staff are kind and caring. However, I feel that there may be a shortage of staff at present. I feel Mum's dignity is compromised when I see her in the sitting room with food all down her front; the simple act of putting an apron/ bib on her would solve the
problem. This has already been raised with staff.

My mother has only recently gone into Waterfield House, with a view to remaining for as long as possible. On our first visit, we were met by the Customer Relations Manager, who immediately made us feel very welcome and relaxed. We had a leisurely tour of the home, so nice not to have been rushed around.
All our queries/worries were well explained and we were introduced to various staff that were on duty that day. I have since been (unannounced) to visit my mother, she looked very well, her clothes clean and had even seen the hairdresser. Her room was immaculately clean and tidy. Waterfield House is a lovely modern, airy home and nothing seems too much for any of the staff, no matter what you request. I feel very pleased that my mother is in such a caring home.

Mum has settled well in Waterfield House, making new friends, and building relationships with the staff and we as a team always go above and beyond to make sure all our residents receive the best care.

Mum has now been living in Waterfield House for over 5 years and is very happy there. Mum hasn't been well lately and it is really nice to see how caring all of the staff are. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They are always approachable and genuinely seem to care. As a family, we are really pleased
with the care given at Waterfield and would thoroughly recommend it.

My mother was a resident at Waterfield House from 2015 until she died aged a hundred in January 2023. Throughout those years she was well cared for and every time anyone from our family visited we were always made to feel very welcome. I used to visit every week so got to know the regular staff well.
They were always very approachable and helpful. The care and attention they gave to my mother, who was not mobile and suffered from vascular dementia, was excellent. Whenever she was unwell they quickly contacted the local health centre for advice or arranged a visit from a medical professional. Our family has no hesitation in recommending Waterfield House as a place where your loved one will be well cared for and would like to thank all the staff for keeping our mother happy and comfortable.

Since moving into Waterfield House Care Home in October 2021 my mother has had a new lease of life.
Despite her difficulties with motor skills and communication at times (she has Anomic dysphasia) she loves being there and involves herself in the fantastic activities that have stimulated her. She
is happy, well looked after and cared for. Waterfield House has a lovely atmosphere throughout.

Managers and all staff are helpful and caring.
The building and facilities are good.
There are not enough care staff and they are not paid enough. Staff retention seems to be decreasing. This is causing my mother stress. She is meeting agency staff that she has never seen before.
She said to
me yesterday, 'I feel like just a number'.
I appreciate and confirm that the care home managers and staff are doing the very best that they can but wish that the company would put more financial investment into staff numbers and retention.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.928)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.928) out of 10 for Waterfield House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.602 for Waterfield House is calculated as follows: ( (76 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 103 Ratings = 4.602
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.326 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Waterfield House is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 76 registered maximum number of service users is 15.2. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 15.2 = 0.526
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
