Managers and all staff are helpful and caring.
The building and facilities are good.
There are not enough care staff and they are not paid enough. Staff retention seems to be decreasing. This is causing my mother stress. She is meeting agency staff that she has never seen before.
She said to me yesterday, 'I feel like just a number'.

I appreciate and confirm that the care home managers and staff are doing the very best that they can but wish that the company would put more financial investment into staff numbers and retention.

Staff are professional, caring, attentive and comforting. My father suffers from advanced dementia but they are always there for him to support him and give that reassurance. The senior staff are also very understanding, but the carers are absolute stars.

The manager and her team run a very efficient and caring home. They are friendly and always ready to help. My friend is happy and well looked after. Food is plentiful and imaginative and there is a nice atmosphere throughout Waterfield House.

The staff and carers at Waterfield House have been amazing. My mother was only in the home a short while before she passed away, but the staff treated her with dignity and respect. They were so caring towards her and supported her with all her needs. I couldn't have asked for better care for my mother. The staff also showed me and my sister the same support through this very difficult time.

Mum joined the home in October last year.
After initially being distressed she soon and now considers it her home.
That's down to the friendly caring staff. Nothing is too much trouble.
Mum has made many new friends.

Thank you.

My father has told me more than once that all the staff with whom he comes into contact are friendly and considerate and generally have time for at least a few moments to chat. When or if I have a need to discuss any matters of potential concern at any time, a member of the management team is always available to discuss and or implement any action needed. The one area of potential (relatively minor) improvement might be to proactively feedback any specific feedback from discussions; I sometimes feel I have to ask if something specific has been attended to. This is a very minor point - in most respects the management team is excellent.

My mother arrived at Waterfield House on February 2021 as she could no longer cope in her own home due to her lack of mobility and increasing falls. She was very frail and in a lot of pain due to arthritis of the spine and very anxious. Since she has been with you, she has gained much more mobility and has had a new lease of life meeting new friends and care staff. A comfortable room and plenty of care has reduced her anxiety levels and also helped to alleviate a lot of the pain. I feel that I have also been kept informed when necessary to do so.

This was my first experience of a temporary residential home for my mum. I was overwhelmed and indeed humbled by the care given by all the staff. I never experienced staff getting angry or short-tempered with any resident, and the kindness shown to Mum was exemplary. Her short stay turned into a much longer one but I have peace of mind whilst she was there.

My knowledge of the interior of the home is limited as my husband became a resident during the lockdown and I have been unable to go inside. My husband is happy there, the staff are very good and there are organised activities, which keep him occupied some of the time. The ratings I have given should read in the context that we have been unable to enter Waterfield House since my husband became a resident. Once the lockdown is over and I am able to visit, hopefully, my ratings will be higher still.

My experience was good. Mum settled down quite quickly when she moved in. The staff encouraged her to take up drawing again and helped her to find some purpose to her day. Mum had said on many occasions, that she was happy to stay at Waterfield House and hoped she would not have to leave. Mum experienced a lot of kindness at Waterfield House and enjoyed meeting other residents. The staff made her feel like she belonged there.

Having had 9 years experience with first my mother, then my aunt joining her and finally this week with my aunt dying, finally my connection with the home is broken. We have never had anything but praise for the caring staff. The home is clean and tidy and there has never been any smells you get in some homes. The food and facilities are very good. An excellent choice for anybody wanting a home for their relative.

Up until the lockdown (11th March 2020), I visited Waterfield at least three times weekly, from April/May 2019, generally from 4 pm to 7 pm. Over this period of time, one gets to know how things work and I am very content and happy that my dearest is in such good care overall. The lockdown has been very painful, tearfully so, but I thank all the staff - everyone - at Waterfield House for their dedication and continued loving care.

I, Serin Jose, began my career with Runwood Homes on 3 March 2022 as a Night Carer. Through dedication, hard work, and continuous support from the organisation, I was promoted within a few months to the role of Night Care Team Leader. I successfully carried out this role for one year, demonstrating strong leadership and the ability to manage and support my team effectively during night shifts.

Following this, I progressed to the position of Day Care Team Leader, where I further developed my leadership, communication, and organisational skills while ensuring high standards of care and teamwork during daytime operations. During my journey, I also completed the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care, which enhanced my knowledge and professional practice in adult care.

I have been given opportunities to support other homes within the organisation, which helped me gain broader experience, adapt to different team environments, and contribute positively to maintaining care standards across services.

In September 2025, I was promoted to Unit Manager at Waterfield House. In this role, I continue to lead by example, ensuring person-centred care, staff development, and effective team coordination.

I believe I have strong leadership skills, good communication abilities, and a high level of empathy, which are essential in delivering quality care. I am committed, hardworking, and always willing to support both residents and staff. I take pride in promoting a positive working environment and ensuring the well-being and dignity of all individuals in my care.
