We need to put my mum in for respite. She was made welcome and she really enjoyed her stay for 3 weeks. We had an option to leave her for the 3rd week which we took advantage of due to personal circumstances she needed to stay a week longer. She really enjoyed the activities that were on every day. She was very happy at Cotman House all staff looked after her needs very well. Mum said herself she could not fault the care and activities she was very happy.

Mum came in for two weeks respite. She really enjoyed it and came home having put on a few pounds. The staff and management were brilliant at fitting us in at short notice.and the care given to my mother. Without hesitation i would recommend this home .

I found all the staff, from cleaner, kitchen staff, carers nurses and admin extremely helpful, friendly, caring and kind. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was plentiful, varied, tasty, nutritious and mostly of excellent quality.
I was very impressed with the activities planned every single morning and afternoon. I only managed to attend 2 - the Silver Swans Ballet class, which I loved, and the Beetle Drive. From what I saw, the activities were well supported, and planned by an enthusiastic, lively team.
Although I wasn't able to make use of the garden, partly due to my mobility and partly because of the weather, the garden looked lovely and well tended.
When I have my other knee replaced, I wont hesitate to book into Cotman House, - that is if there's space and they'll have me!!!

We have got to know Cotman well over the last few years. They are just a lovely bunch of genuinely caring people; despite the fact that mum's other home is over 600 miles away, she won't consider staying anywhere else which says a lot. Some of the individual team members are stand-out and I have seen why first hand, but truthfully they are all delightful. When mum is at Cotman, we all feel relaxed knowing she's not only in safe hands but she will be having a lovely time.

My Dad came for a week's respite to Cotman House in March. The staff were really friendly, helpful and supportive. Communication was excellent, and staff were really professional and caring. I would definitely recommend Cotman House and felt my Dad was being looked after and having his care needs met.

Cotman House promotes and generates an excellent community style atmosphere through it's good management team and carers. Requesting any information or suggestions are always taken seriously and professionally. With the cafe especially, it is a good hub to relax with other resident's families. My brother stayed at Cotman House for three weeks in November/December 2024, to recuperate from a full hip replacement. My brother has learning difficulties and autism. Cotman House provided a safe and happy environment for him and he loved all the staff and the many activities provided for residents. Everyone at the home is friendly, helpful and caring, and I also received moral support from key members of staff, which was invaluable. I cannot thank everyone enough. My brother lives locally and it is a great comfort to know that, when the time comes, there will be a lovely place for him to go and live. It is excellent in every respect.

My first impression was of a clean and modern home, spacious, with a great location and stunning views over the seafront.
The staff that handled our initial enquiry and application, were very friendly and professional, everything was carefully explained.
My positive comments are:
The staff are very good, always in good spirits and they communicate well with my father, and ourselves.
The home is clean and well organised, the various social spaces mean that there is always somewhere quiet to sit, the views are fantastic, the garden is also a little gem.
Activities take place twice a day, and include light chair exercises for physical activity, singing, crafts, games etc, plus there is a dedicated cinema room.
There is a cafe on the lower floor, very useful.
We feel very involved and welcomed as visitors.

My mother was a resident of Cotman House for a two week convalescent period following a fall at home. The staff of Cotman House prior to her arrival, were extremely helpful, informative and supportive on the telephone, especially one staff member in particular. One arrival, my mum was made to feel very welcome and she settled very quickly and happily into 'Cotman life'. The attending staff were all polite, willing to help and encouraging. The activities provided were appropriate, enjoyable and where necessary, suitably challenging.

I cannot speak more highly of my experience from my first contact with Cotman House and throughout the duration of my stay. All the staff were so supportive, caring and friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

I am so grateful we were able to find Cotman House as our first impressions were simply amazing, the home is located a short distance from the seafront and benefits from some impressive views, we were given a full tour and any questions were answered immediately, nothing was too much of an ask so we knew this would be the right place for my Grandad.
Upon arrival, we were assisted to his room and all the care staff was incredibly helpful and understanding, he settled in quickly and enjoyed spending time with other residents, particularly with the resident ambassador as they often had breakfast together every morning, he thoroughly enjoyed his respite at Cotman House and we cannot recommend it enough.

In March my mum was in hospital and could no longer live with my husband and myself. I needed to find her somewhere to live. I did some research and a friend's mum was a resident at Cotman House. I was met by a lovely member of staff. I was taken into a room where we could have a private chat about my mum’s needs and my expectations. I was immediately put at ease. She then took me on a small tour of Cotman's house. I got to choose a lovely room for my mum. All the staff are very friendly. The house itself is extremely clean and doesn’t come with the usual smell that sometimes is associated with homes. My mum’s health has improved so much. There are so many activities every day. So you can pick and choose what you want to join in with. There’s no pressure it’s up to the individual. In summary, my mum has put on weight, she’s got her appetite back and her health has greatly improved. She has made new friends and I couldn’t wish for more at this time in her life.

Following the recent passing of my mother-in-law I have visited Cotman House several times in an attempt to support their ventures. A small way of showing my appreciation for the high level of assistance and care the staff provided to her during her almost 2 years there. One such venture is the Paws for Coffee. Still in its early days, but each time I've visited I've been impressed with the enthusiasm shown by the staff and residents alike. An hour of interaction with the dogs is always enjoyed by all. The residents often repeat how much they love seeing them because it reminds them of their own pets from the past. Plenty of potential moving forward with new ideas suggested each week. Long may it last.

I was able to move both parents here in a crisis thanks especially to a particular staff member and one parent unfortunately passed away soon after. Although mother had two major life changes at once, she adapted to a totally new way of life thanks to the kind staff, including of course the activities team. The food has been wonderful and she's so grateful to the laundry staff as nothing has been lost! (I had been unable to label items). She's now making friends and any minor problems seem to be ironed out without too many problems. It's great the staff seem to enjoy laughing and chatting to her. Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words and recognition of the team at Cotman House Care Home. We are so pleased to read your positive comments about the care your mother is receiving and the care that she deserves while staying with us. We are sorry for your loss. We hope we made your father's time with us as comfortable and as peaceful as possible. Your comments will be passed on to the team.
Thank you to all staff and management who dealt with this situation over a very busy Christmas period, with grace and dignity - you made a horrendous situation bearable, and we cannot thank you enough.

Kirsty trained as a qualified nurse, and within 6 years, she became a Home Manager. She believes that every day is an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life by making changes to the environment, putting things in place to reduce risk or even just by making someone smile and feel loved.
Kirsty is incredibly enthusiastic and loves that every day at Cotman House is different. Her passion for the role is infectious, and she tries to come up with new ways of working and new ideas on how to improve practice on a daily basis.
Outside of work, Kirsty enjoys spending time with her family and her miniature Dachshund.
As the Customer Relationship Manager at Cotman House, Chantal brings extensive experience to support families through important care decisions. She is always available to answer questions and offers compassionate guidance and personal show rounds to help families find the best care solutions for their loved ones.
