My friend's stay at Avondale has turned his life around with the help of the staff and facilities he is now able to resume normal life at home. The rooms are very comfortable and bright, the food is great. The staff are very helpful and caring. I would be happy for him to return for further respite
care or permanent accommodation if needed in the future.

Very welcoming staff, professional and caring at all times. Treat each resident as individual according to their specific needs and requirements. The activities chosen and undertaken by the entertainers really seem to improve the quality of life of the resident.

My mother has been a resident at Avondale Care Home for the last couple of months in the dementia suite. After caring for her for the last few years myself I had to make the hard decision that I could no longer give her the care or time that she needed without burning myself out. Not an easy decision
to have to make but from my first visit to look around and meet the staff I was so impressed. The atmosphere is wonderful. She has settled in so well. The staff are truly amazing and so very caring. They really are so dedicated to each and every resident and they treat them like family. There are so many activities that she is now taking part in. It's wonderful to know that she is safe, cared for and most importantly extremely happy. I highly recommend a visit if you have a loved one who now needs a little more help than before. There is now total peace of mind for me knowing that she's happy, safe and getting amazing care from the lovely staff. 100% recommend.

Since coming to Avondale Care home, my mum had her first shower in three years as her old home did not do this. She has really enjoyed all the things on offer and being out in the minibus. The staff are amazing, so kind and caring and the food is really good. My mum has started to put on weight and
looks ten years younger. She has made friends and has a life now. Everyone who comes to see her says it is like a five-star hotel. Thank you all so much.

After my mother passed, we needed to get Dad into care, I visited several homes in the area and decided Avondale was the best option, how right I was, they bent over backwards to get us in within a week and since Dad has been with Avondale he has wanted for nothing. The staff I have encountered have
all been excellent, from the management team, who ensured everything went smoothly, and the care team, who have cared for Dad with humour and compassion.
The food has been excellent according to Dad and the staff are encouraging him to join in at a very difficult time for him. Thank you Avondale

My experience of Avondale Care Home is in providing respite care of three weeks for my wife.
During this time, it was clear to me that Avondale is an extremely well-managed care home. Staff are caring, reassuringly friendly and helpful. My wife was happy there in as much as one can be in these circumstances.
That is, in itself, the highest commendation. Thank you, Avondale.
Should I need more respite in the future or a permanent arrangement, please consider my wife for your available accommodation.

My nan has been in the home for over a year. She likes it and feels safe and looked after. She is happy when I visit and the staff are welcoming.
Parking can be a little tricky as the carpark can get busy.

My father spent a few weeks at Avondale after being in hospital; my 92-year-old mum wasn't able to nurse him as needed. We found that all the staff were kind, helpful and respectful. I only went to Avondale a few times because I don't live in England, but I was very grateful to the manager for organising
Skype calls with him, or me, and my mum, when she was visiting. My brother-in-law who lives locally particularly wishes to thank the nurse on my dad's unit, and the manager. Both were extremely helpful during my dad's stay in various ways, and we appreciated their kindness and good humour. He found the nurse to be very organised and efficient. It was always a pleasure to speak to them when we were on the unit, and if we asked for anything it was dealt with promptly. My father eventually transferred to another care home closer to my mother's home - we chose another Porthaven facility as we were so pleased with their care.

My wife has only been at Avondale Care Home since mid-December so it is only a relatively short time. I am particularly impressed with the two male carers who spend time with residents in the 'bistro'. The caring staff have coped with my wife's incident of aggression. I can't really comment on the food
and drink but my wife seems happy about this.

My partner's mother went into Avondale Care Home for respite following an illness and some time spent in the hospital. The home was very accommodating and looked after her with care, and made her feel very comfortable. Despite her initial wishes to return to her own home, she quickly felt that Avondale
was the place she wanted to make her new home and decided to stay there long term. The staff are always friendly and helpful and always leave you feeling that she is going to be well looked after and supported. I would recommend Avondale to anyone who wants a good quality of care and support for their loved ones.

Mum was living independently but had become isolated during Covid which lead to her physical and mental health deteriorating. Whilst Mum was not fully convinced that residential care was the best solution, she has absolutely thrived at Avondale. Her physical health has improved 10-fold and the management
and staff have been excellent in assessing and understanding Mum's mental health condition. They have been very supportive of her needs and encourage her to participate in the many physical and social activities that are organised. They have also been very supportive of me as I adjust to Mum's evolving needs due to her changing mental health.

Mum has been here for nearly 18 months now and we (my brother and I) are very happy with the staff and the way Mum is treated. The peace of mind, knowing that whatever happens, Mum will be well looked after, with nursing help on hand if required, is priceless. The staff are always happy to answer any
questions about her care and needs and deliver a fantastic service to someone, who I am sure at times, can be a little difficult.

My mum went to Avondale as a respite client. She felt safe and well cared for during her stay. All the staff are friendly and caring and as a daughter I feel mum was very well looked after which is ultimately what one would want for their family member.

The home has been very flexible in accommodating our parents in difficult circumstances. The dynamic team is dedicated to making sure residents are cared for and comfortable and that their individual needs are met. They also make visitors welcome and I am breathing more easily now that I know my parents
are in such good hands. After a long and thorough selection process, I am very pleased that we chose Avondale for our parents.

Dad stayed at Avondale for two months respite care after a short period in hospital. We were particularly pleased with the flexibility of the Care Manager in accommodating dad at short notice and thereafter extending his stay until we found longer-term care closer to mum. We also appreciated the compassion
and understanding with which the staff allocated to dad treated him throughout his stay at Avondale. Dad's room was spacious and well furnished and always seemed clean and well maintained. Dad himself always appeared clean and well groomed. We felt particularly reassured by the security arrangements within the Home, as well as the alertness and attentiveness of staff. Dad's ability to communicate and physical condition noticeably improved during his stay after a particularly difficult time for him. The nurse practitioner who cared for dad after a fall was particularly caring and kind-hearted.

She stayed with you for a week's respite care while I was away. While she couldn't recall everything she did with you, she appeared to be happy with her care, and she must have had lots of attention, as she seemed quite lost and a little disoriented when she got home, asking what she was doing next,
who is looking after her, etc.

From our very first tour of Avondale Care Home, we were very impressed with the standard of decor and cleanliness. The home is so very welcoming and looks and smells like a hotel! Since dad moved into the home, we have been so pleased with how quickly he has settled in - this is of course down to the
incredibly helpful, patient and respectful staff. One staff member, in particular, has been incredibly helpful. She is always available on the phone or via email to answer all the little questions that have cropped up. Lastly, I love being able to visit whenever I like and I love dad's room - it's a great size and is so comfortable and airy. Highly recommended.

Mum has settled well. All the staff have been kind and friendly. The environment is clean, spacious and well organised. Always trying to accommodate Mum's requests. Nothing too much trouble. Very easy to visit.

Hello, my name is Antonios Loumousitois, and I am the Home Manager here at Avondale.


I have a strong background in healthcare management and extensive experience in the care sector, with a BSc in Management of Health and Welfare Units and an MBA in International Healthcare Management. I have also been registered with CQC since 2016.


As a home manager, I am incredibly passionate about treating everybody with dignity and respect. I also believe that a positive attitude can make a real difference in people's lives.
