Avondale Care Home

The care the team is showing my husband is exceptional. They take care of his every need. They keep me updated on his progress and what his day has been like. Brilliant nursing. Food could be better.

The home has been very flexible in accommodating our parents in difficult circumstances. The dynamic team is dedicated to making sure residents are cared for and comfortable and that their individual needs are met. They also make visitors welcome and I am breathing more easily now that I know my parents are in such good hands. After a long and thorough selection process, I am very pleased that we chose Avondale for our parents.

Dad stayed at Avondale for two months respite care after a short period in hospital. We were particularly pleased with the flexibility of the Care Manager in accommodating dad at short notice and thereafter extending his stay until we found longer-term care closer to mum. We also appreciated the compassion and understanding with which the staff allocated to dad treated him throughout his stay at Avondale. Dad's room was spacious and well furnished and always seemed clean and well maintained. Dad himself always appeared clean and well groomed. We felt particularly reassured by the security arrangements within the Home, as well as the alertness and attentiveness of staff. Dad's ability to communicate and physical condition noticeably improved during his stay after a particularly difficult time for him. The nurse practitioner who cared for dad after a fall was particularly caring and kind-hearted.

She stayed with you for a week's respite care while I was away. While she couldn't recall everything she did with you, she appeared to be happy with her care, and she must have had lots of attention, as she seemed quite lost and a little disoriented when she got home, asking what she was doing next, who is looking after her, etc.

From our very first tour of Avondale Care Home, we were very impressed with the standard of decor and cleanliness. The home is so very welcoming and looks and smells like a hotel! Since dad moved into the home, we have been so pleased with how quickly he has settled in - this is of course down to the incredibly helpful, patient and respectful staff. One staff member, in particular, has been incredibly helpful. She is always available on the phone or via email to answer all the little questions that have cropped up. Lastly, I love being able to visit whenever I like and I love dad's room - it's a great size and is so comfortable and airy. Highly recommended.

Mum has settled well. All the staff have been kind and friendly. The environment is clean, spacious and well organised. Always trying to accommodate Mum's requests. Nothing too much trouble. Very easy to visit.

Very impressed with the staff - carers, nurses, and management. Rooms are spacious and airy. The facilities are excellent. Activities are good. Very pleased overall with the level of care provided. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Avondale Care Home to anybody thinking of going into a care home.

We moved Mum into respite care for two weeks. We were nervous as a family because she had been cared for at home for years. She has advanced dementia but still only in her seventies. Avondale in Aylesbury was so welcoming and made the moving in process easy and gentle. The home is incredibly clean and smells fresh - which makes a huge difference to the overall experience. Management is responsive to questions and reassuring. I felt relaxed that Mum was safe and well cared for there.

On arrival, you are welcomed with a warm greeting and made to feel like one of the family. My mother-in-law came to the home not being able to walk, communicate or feed herself, but within six weeks she has made remarkable progress. She feeds herself now and can now stand with assistance. I cannot praise the staff enough and the facilities available. My mother-in-law is now more of her old self. Thank you.

Our family has been overwhelmed by the excellent service provided by the Avondale Care Home. In particular, we cannot praise highly enough the professionalism and kindness of all the staff at the Care Home ensuring that my mother received the best possible support and care. The staff across all areas of the Care Home are approachable and always willing to answer questions and help in any way they can. Moving our mother to a Care Home was a difficult and emotional decision and this was made so much easier by the outstanding care and support demonstrated by all the Care Home staff.

From the moment I was taken to my room, I liked it. The quality furnishings are pretty. The garden room looks just what I wanted. I was a bit bewildered after my knee operation. I arrived late, but the night staff were kind and reassuring. All nurses and carers were good with nice back up staff - cleaners etc.

Mum moved into Avondale a year ago and has been very well looked after. After her stroke, she was no longer able to live alone and was in poor health. She now looks and feels so much stronger, thanks to the care and attention she is getting each day.

Friendly, welcoming, safe, caring home. My mother has been a resident for some 19 months and loves it there. Covid 19 has been a very challenging time for everyone but the home have managed very professionally and kept Mum safe.

Avondale is a lovely facility which offers many opportunities to its residents, but over and above this, is the staff. They are friendly, caring and go the extra mile to make residents and visitors comfortable and welcome. They provide interesting and stimulating activities and ensure there is always some fun to be had.

My father spent just over four weeks in Avondale Care Home before passing away peacefully. During this time the staff treated my dad with care, dignity and compassion. This was very important to me, as visiting was severely restricted due to COVID-19. During my few visits though, I could tell by dad's reactions that he was being well cared for. Thank you to all!

My husband has spent 81/2 years at Avondale. He had Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia and was completely reliant on staff for every aspect of his life. he could not have received better care anywhere. The support to the family has been amazing. Avondale should be very proud of their staff, especially during the current crisis. He passed away peacefully with me by his side and the love and care of everyone around him on 29th March 2020. tThank you all.
