After some hesitancy to use a care home for respite care whilst the family were away, I am very glad to have made the decision to stay at Newcross Care Home. I have felt welcomed, comfortable, listened to and respected and have enjoyed the company I had there. I would recommend this home to anybody
and am looking forward to an opportunity to visit and stay again!

My grandad has truly been shown so much affection and care since his admission. Unfortunately, a few months ago, he also lost his wife and the staff and management were so supportive. The staff are lovely and the manager is smiling every time I visit him. Truly an amazing place. Thank you all

I’ve always found everyone at the home to be welcoming and friendly. The facilities are good and the rooms are very pleasant.
I’ve heard the carers with my uncle when they don’t know I’m waiting to enter and they sound kind and patient.
My siblings call from the USA and the staff are happy to take
the phone for my uncle to speak to them.

Mom arrived at Newcross Care Home in December 2022, since being there the change has been amazing. We go and see her and she is singing with staff and chatting with other residents. We watch her laughing and joking which we rarely saw in the previous care home. Newcross took Mom straight from hospital
after she broke her hip. The care she has received is second to none and staff call us with any concerns. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, she takes part in activities and always looks happy and cared for, as a family we are very happy. Thank you to all.

My stepmother has recently become a resident at Newcross. She is very disabled physically and also has dementia. Right from her assessment at home until the present day, she has been given excellent care. Her treatment has been first-class, and she is treated with respect and kindness by staff who ensure
a calm environment and who meet her needs. Outside professionals, e.g. GP and physio, were alerted to her needs and gave prompt treatment. Accommodation and food are lovely, and the whole environment is comfortable and welcoming. Clinical staff have been extremely helpful to me as a relative. I highly recommend this home to others.

We found it hard finding a suitable home for my nan due to dementia and previous poor experience. Newcross was a breath of fresh air. We knew nan would love it and she does. She has settled in well and has made some new friends. Nothing is too much for the staff and nan is very well cared for. She loves
the food and is always busy with the activities. Newcross staff go above and beyond for their residents. Nan's room is always lovely and clean and warm, just how she likes it.

Grandad was admitted to Newcross as an emergency following admission of my nan. Welcomed into his new home and shown all of the wonderful facilities he can use. His room was very clean and warm. Grandad was comfortable and made some good relationships with the staff and nothing was ever too much trouble
- despite his grumbling. The staff at Newcross are amazing! Just an added note - the manager and deputy work really hard and are a welcome face to Newcross.

I am really pleased with the help and support we received with my dad, from the phone call on Tuesday afternoon to arriving at the care home was a really smooth transition.
They have taken a lot of stress and worry off my shoulders with knowing that he is being looked after and safe.

My mother initially came in for respite care but became a permanent resident after the death of her husband. The care staff have all been amazing from day one, helping Mum through a difficult time. The doctor for the care home was already Mum's doctor, so this helped with Mum's transition. All the staff
are wonderful, and Mum loves them all. She has a beautiful room and looks forward to all the activities, especially the fitness class. Her hair is done every week in the salon, and she has regular pedicures and dental checkups. I am always kept up to date with any medical issues, and the staff is always available for any general updates. I can't fault Newcross Care Home and would highly recommend.

My mother has been a resident at Newcross Care Home for twelve months. From day one all of the staff made her transition from independent living to care home residency trouble-free. The staff are professional and friendly as well as treating my mother with dignity. Facilities at the home are excellent
including a wealth of monthly activities. In addition, the home operates an excellent relationship with a local Doctor and Dental Practice which has supported my mother when needed. I would not hesitate to recommend New Cross Care Home.

My mum came to Newcross Care Home after a fall resulting in a fracture which meant she was unable to go home. She could not walk very much but the care given by the staff has meant she is now walking with a frame and getting further each time this has meant she has kept her muscle strength. Mum is so
much brighter and getting involved in activities we never thought she would as the encouragement given by the staff is fantastic. They have taken away all of our worries as we know she is well cared for and they keep us informed of even the slightest change in her health and doctors and other teams are on hand should she need them. She is eating much better and looks healthier than she did at home. I cannot praise the staff here enough.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2019

Hello, my name is Beverley, and I am delighted to be the Home Manager here at Newcross.


I have 40 years of experience within the healthcare sector and have achieved qualifications such as the Management level 4 Registered Manager's Award. Working in residential and nursing settings, my previous roles have been as an Operations Manager and a Nurse.


Within this time, I have shared many treasurable moments with the residents I have had the pleasure to meet along the way. One proud moment that has stayed with me throughout my career was when I was able to reunite one of my residents with their brother, who had lost contact and not seen each other for 15 years. To their surprise, they found out they had only been living a few miles apart the whole time.


I would best describe myself as someone who is very outgoing, warm and welcoming and always wanting the best for the home. I pride myself in providing a high-quality service to all residents ensuring they receive an exceptional level of care and have a fun, enjoyable life here at Newcross Care Home. In my spare time, I enjoy going on holiday, meeting with friends for meals out and spending time with my family.

Olivia Harris

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2017

Olivia has been working in care since the age of 17. During her time, she has completed an NVQ level 2 and 3 Qualification in Health and Social care and has recently completed her level 4 in Leadership and Management.


Her passion for her role is seeing the residents happy, fulfilling their needs and wishes and promoting a good quality of life.

Wendy

Wendy Harris

Job Title: Home Administrator Joined: 2017

Wendy has been working within the Administration sector since leaving school so has many years of experience within the office environment.


Wendy ensures all service user financial accounts are well managed, and also deals with personnel and payroll.


Wendy has worked in the care sector for 9 years.

Judith

Judith Powell

Job Title: Head Chef Joined: 2012

Judith started a career in Catering after obtaining her City and Guilds qualification at Birmingham College of Food and Domestic Art.


Judith has a vast knowledge of catering in various environments. Since her commencement with Avery, she has been more passionate about making a difference to our residents by providing them with the best quality and nutritional dishes.


Judith has since achieved the National Care Award of Care Home Chef of the Year in 2015.
