From the time my mum came into Newcross Care Home, she was treated with respect and dignity. She wasn't always the easiest of residents but all the staff greeted her with smiles and words of encouragement. The care, love and kindness shown was superb. Can't praise them enough. As a relative, I was also treated in this way. I was kept informed every step of the way. Well done.

My auntie was cared for extremely well whilst at Newcross Care Home. All staff were kind, compassionate and professional. Auntie was encouraged to participate in all activities and had experiences that she would never have had in her own home. They made her last few months happy, which I am extremely grateful for.

Mother went into Newcross extremely anxious and hardly willing - now, after 2 weeks, considering rooms from respite to full time.

She is blossoming in the friendly atmosphere and cannot speak highly enough of all aspects of the home.

Overall Experience

Our mother spent one week in respite, as her carer was away on holiday and we made it known on the interview day that she had dementia and was incontinent and we fully expected her hygiene care during her stay would be dealt with by the staff. But unfortunately, she was left to her own devices, which is not good for someone with dementia. She was not showered regularly, nor was she assisted with incontinence pads, which is something she has to have help with every few hours. She had the same clothes on for more than 3 days.

On early inspection of this care home, it was modern, clean and staff very helpful and friendly, so we felt it was the right place to leave our mother for one week. But that was not the case and we will definitely not be using this service again.

Overall a fabulous experience in care and accommodation for the resident and visitors alike. Activities and entertainment etc were top quality and much appreciated by residents and family. Nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff - ask for hairdressing or chiropody and it happened (no messing). The only criticism would be the cost - 1 weeks stay would be more than I get a month in state pension. Seeing my elderly mother-in-law improve health and wellbeing - is priceless.

My Mom has been in this care home for almost four years. When she first went in it was traumatic for the whole family. The staff at the home were kind and caring and helped all of us, Mom included, to come to terms with the change in circumstances. This care has never changed. Mom is still there receiving help and care from the staff, without them things would be much more difficult for all of us.

My mom has been a resident here for about 7 months and throughout I only have positive things to say about Newcross.
There are so many wonderful staff here who continually provide the care and support for my mum, particularly since my dad passed away here on the 2nd of July.

This and so many other things provide the reassurance to the family that my mum is in the best place possible.

Mum is very frail and is becoming more dependent. The home have moved her to nearer the staff station which I find reassuring.

Staff are loving towards mum and I trust them to care for her.

Beverley AldridgeJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2019

Hello, my name is Beverley, and I am delighted to be the Home Manager here at Newcross.

I have 40 years of experience within the healthcare sector and have achieved qualifications such as the Management level 4 Registered Manager's Award. Working in residential and nursing settings, my previous roles have been as an Operations Manager and a Nurse.

Within this time, I have shared many treasurable moments with the residents I have had the pleasure to meet along the way. One proud moment that has stayed with me throughout my career was when I was able to reunite one of my residents with their brother, who had lost contact and not seen each other for 15 years. To their surprise, they found out they had only been living a few miles apart the whole time.

I would best describe myself as someone who is very outgoing, warm and welcoming and always wanting the best for the home. I pride myself in providing a high-quality service to all residents ensuring they receive an exceptional level of care and have a fun, enjoyable life here at Newcross Care Home. In my spare time, I enjoy going on holiday, meeting with friends for meals out and spending time with my family.

Avery Healthcare, owners of Newcross, strives to be the best in care, providing high-quality services whilst offering its best support to managers and staff. Our home is truly unique as it reflects Birmingham’s rich cultural heritage with our diverse and happy community.

I look forward to welcoming you to Newcross.
