Claremont Court Care Home is an award-winning care home that provides specialist dementia care with love and compassion. It also holds platinum accreditation with the Gold Standards Framework for end-of-life care.

The experienced team ensures that residents live well with dementia and achieve a high quality of life by receiving person-centred care, stimulation and social interaction designed to support their overall health and wellbeing.

The calm and welcoming home supports its team to provide expert residential dementia and nursing dementia care, having been designed to meet the needs of those living with complex dementia. It features wide corridors, clear signage to aid wayfinding and memory boxes for residents to personalise.

There are comfortable and spacious dining rooms, lounges, a library and salon, not to mention the home's loving cats, Clare and Monty, and therapy dog Ruby. The home’s large sensory garden features vegetable boxes that residents take pride in looking after.

Residents enjoy a varied schedule of activities tailored to their interests and abilities. These include arts and crafts, reminiscence activities, and dementia-aid computer games and puzzles. There are regular visits from performers, minibus trips to local places of interest and partnerships with schools and charities. It also hosts a monthly dementia support group.

And, with soothing lighting, music and aromatherapy, residents can experience multi-sensory relaxation as part of a group, or in the comfort of their own bedroom, during regular Namaste Care sessions.

I was so worried about putting my mum in a care home but Claremont Court have completely changed my mind. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, it’s always very clean and the residents are extremely well looked after. There are plenty of activities for all to enjoy and there is always a sense
of order about the place. I am pleasantly surprised and happy that we chose this place for her.
The only negative I have is that it would be nice if there were facilities for refreshments for visitors.

I couldn't recommend Claremont Court Care Home more highly. The care my mum has received over the last 8 months has been exceptional. The whole team make every effort to get to know each resident to ensure they provide a personalised service and caring environment. It is a cross-functional team effort,
from the cleaners and laundry team, the estates team, and catering to the care team. Everybody is involved, and their commitment and care creates a welcoming, warm and friendly care home to visit. My mum has been thriving. There is a schedule of non-stop activities to engage and stimulate the residents, the lifestyle team do a fabulous job. Always so much going on!
My mum is happy, safe and extremely well looked after. Dealing with dementia has its challenges and I couldn't have more admiration for all those involved in her care.

After much searching, I finally found the best care home for Mum. She is treated with respect, retains her dignity, enjoys good relationships with all the staff and constantly says she is spoilt. There are a wide range of activities available to her if she so wishes, but there is no pressure to join
in if she prefers quiet time. The nursing staff are currently wonderful and update me of every eventuality, change in medication, etc and are extremely supportive and understanding. The staff have become part of our extended family. I cannot recommend Claremont Court highly enough.

We’ve been very happy in the knowledge that Mum is in exceptionally safe hands. She is safe and well looked after with plenty to keep her busy if she chooses. Her room is comfortable and the staff is thoughtful and responsive.

I would not hesitate to recommend Claremont Court as an excellent home. The upbeat and attentive care is heartwarming to see and experience. The organised activities and administration of the home run smoothly with good communication, and any enquiries are dealt with promptly and fully. I am very pleased

Claremont Court is an outstanding nursing home in every way. All the staff are extremely caring, friendly and have a genuine interest in every resident staying there. There are daily events, so the residents are kept stimulated, and a number of visits to local attractions weekly. Also, singers and entertainment
on a weekly basis. The food is excellent and nutritious. I know my mother-in-law is extremely happy at Claremont Court and we couldn't ask for more than that. I would definitely recommend.

Claremont continue to give my wife the care and support she needs and she is clearly happy there and with the the staff. She uses few facilities available and I do not know if they fully cover her special needs, this is also true of visits, the only one experienced she seemed to enjoy greatly. The staff
are kind and friendly and my wife's attitude to them confirms the quality of their care. I cannot comment on food and drink. The fact that my wife enjoys the food we bring in probably means she is really enjoying food and not that she is hungry from lack of feeding! I feel she is as safe as she can be, but I fully recognise the importance in her having independence when, due to her physical and mental state, this may increase her risk of accident. The rooms are adequate and are kept clean and tidy. A little more attention could be given to maintenance, particularly regarding the sliding rails to carry her poster boards. I believe the management is the real strength of Claremont.

My husband and I visited many care facilities in and around Surrey but Claremont Court Care Home was always the one that we felt most suitable. The facilities/location and most importantly for us the activities were best suited. We liked you could visit when you wanted and there were always activities
and people around. Mother-in-law is very happy, tells us stories of her trips out and the staff are so friendly and caring. Since making the very difficult decision to move mother-in-law to Claremont Court having been caring for her ourselves for 3 years has allowed us to be her family again and not her carers. It means we can visit and have quality time together, which was not possible when living with us. Whenever we pop in there is always something going on, arts/crafts/singers and there are even two beautiful cats who give love too. Thank you for taking good care of our loved Mother in law/Mum/Nan/Sister and giving her a good quality of life.

My mother has severe dementia and has been at Claremont Court for a number of years. Throughout that time the management and staff have provided a safe, warm and caring environment to make her life as good as it can be. The entire team are trained to deal with the many issues that dementia brings and
they deliver an excellent level of service with compassion and patience.

My review of Claremont Care Home is very favourable. The team respect the resident's wishes and the hygiene care is very good. All the staff are willing to attend to all the different needs that the residents have and have an understanding of the different types of dementia. My cousin likes getting
the Daily Sparkle newspaper every day - it keeps her in touch with the date and jogs her memory of past times. There are a lot of activities - for those who wish to partake in - but nothing is forced. A monthly small spiritual service is good for those who like to go. Kindness all around seems to be paramount. Thank you.

I've always found the staff friendly and helpful though not always easy to contact over my wife's everyday care and frequent falls. But I have noticed bedside care etc though I regret she never seems to have been given chocolates given her by her visitors. The last couple of times staff have kindly
wheeled her out into the garden and my wife has lifted her head and made real eye contact. So many thanks for all you do. Thanks also for the regular contact with the doctor.

My 98-year-old mother suffers from dementia. Despite being disorientated in time and place and lacking awareness of the world around her, she continues to be happy, all her needs met and she is obviously well cared for. Since moving into Claremont Court, she has not expressed any word of complaint and
is obviously very fond of all her carers. Despite visiting at different times and days, I have always found her very well cared for. I am impressed by the resident-centered care which helps my mother to feel as though she is living in her own home. I have been highly impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the Care Home. My impression is that the home is well run with my mother enjoying the food, the activities and the comfort of her own room. It is a comfort to know she is so happy and well cared for. In my experience, any issues or concerns are easily and quickly dealt with. Communication from the care home is excellent.

I have been so delighted with - and humbled by - the loving care my husband receives at Claremont. He is always in immaculate condition whenever I visit, and is as comfortable as he can possibly be. The bandaging he needs on his feet is immaculate. I feel so fortunate that he was transferred to Claremont
in January and would like to give huge thanks to all the kind and very proficient staff who look after and care for him (and who are always ready to answer and deal with any questions or concerns). Sincere thanks are also more than due to those who are in charge and oversee Claremont. You are all absolutely amazing!

My wife has only been a resident since January 12th 2021 and because of Covid I have been unable to visit her.
However the help and friendly way she was greeted and the helpful way the staff have been when I have called to ask how she is getting on I cannot fault.
She has also settled very well.

The whole experience from the beginning to getting my dad into the home was easy, nothing was too much trouble. All the staff are so helpful, I haven't been able to go into the home due to Covid-19 but when I can it will be nice to thank the staff personally for the care they have given my dad.

Karen Byres

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2014

Karen Byres, the Home Manager at Claremont Court has worked in care for over 25 years having started her career as a carer. Karen spent nine years working for another care home operator in the Guildford area as a Registered Manager so has a wealth of experience in managing and leading established care homes. Before joining Claremont Court Karen worked for two years improving the care standards of a care home that was judged as ‘inadequate’ by the regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and led the home to achieve fully compliant status. Karen is NVQ qualified and holds the Registered Managers Award. In addition, Karen has been trained in supporting people living with Parkinson’s and Diabetes, as well as completing a course in ‘Attachment and Awareness in Dementia’ at the University of Southampton.

Karen says: “I love working with the team at Claremont Court, who are dedicated to providing very personalised care to meet our resident's unique needs. Every day at Claremont is heartwarming.”
