Had an excellent experience when visiting one of your residents. He is always highly complimentary about Elm Bank and says the staff are "marvellous"

Review from P W (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 19 February 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

I never thought we'd find a home good enough to look after my grandma. She means the world to us, so as you can imagine, no one could care for her as well as we'd like. Well, I stand corrected. My grandma has been given a new lease of life. I cannot thank the manager enough for supporting and enabling such a rapid move into Barchester Elm Bank Care Home. She immediately put us at ease. One staff member in particular greeted us on arrival with a warm and friendly welcome, displaying a personable, professional introduction to the home. My grandma is now engaging in social activities and has a good friend among the residents. I love the banter I hear between the team and my grandma. It's exactly what she needed. The family are all made to feel welcome when we visit and the kids love the hot chocolate when they visit grandma. Thank you to all the team, I'm sorry I can't list you all, but all contributions to her care mean everything to us.

The best asset at Barchester Elm Bank Care Home is the wonderful staff. Without exception, everyone is welcoming and cheerful. We witnessed the very caring attitude of one member of staff who was patiently encouraging a resident to try some food. As well as helping them to drink and eat, she offered several suggestions of varying items, bringing them to the table to try. Although we were only staying for a week, the chefs preordered special dietary requirements and daily checked the suitability of the menus with us. Our break was refreshing and beneficial. It felt as though we were part of a big happy family.

Mum is extremely well cared for and looked after.
The food is great and coffee and biscuits aplenty at all times.
The entertainment/activities are regular and plentiful and residents are even taken offsite to visit places and things of interest on a regular basis.

All the staff are friendly and caring so I am comfortable that this is a great place for Mum to see out her remaining days.

As a family, we cannot put into words how caring, supportive and professional all the staff and management have been at Barchester Elm Bank Care Home. From the first day we set foot through their door, we were looked after and treated as family.
They have all looked after my mother and father so well.
Me and my wife could not be happier with the care and support that has been given to my parents and us over the past twelve weeks.

Thanks to all of you for helping us at this difficult time.

Following a fall, while at a previous care home, and a hip replacement, Mum has done really well at Barchester Elm Bank Care Home. She has been encouraged to eat, is fed well, has taken part in activities and been so much more socially involved with others than she was before. I am pleased with how she has progressed and happy with the level of care.

A very pleasant home, light and airy. My partner was on the dementia floor for respite. The staff came across as caring and experienced. The room was clean with a wet room, facilities looked good. It's just a real pity I was told they couldn't have her again when I picked her up. She has a rare form of dementia; maybe if she was a permanent resident things may have been different.
