I had felt guilty about locating respite care for my wife, who suffers from vascular dementia. After much soul searching, I made an enquiry online. The wonderful team at Marnel called me the following day, and arranged for me to visit that day. The lovely Lesley showed me around, explained everything clearly and totally understood my guilt yet dire need for a break. Two weeks later, my wife is back home. The staff were terrific, all of them. If I need a break in the future, I will be contacting Marnel again, and my wife has already said that she no longer fears the idea. Highly recommended.

Marnel Lodge has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. All the staff, from manager down to the housekeeping Team, are polite and courteous and know their residents well. The lodge is well maintained and clean with plenty of communal spaces and a wide selection of activities for the residents to participate in. From the first viewing I knew mum would be well looked after and cared for here.

Following my mums demise with Alzheimer's and what we thought would be respite care we slowly realised Marnel Lodge would be the best option for mum long term. Something we never thought we would have to do but the whole team from management, nurses, carers, activity staff and Reception made the whole process which was so emotional an easier one with their guidance. The home is just lovely, very clean , the rooms are big and bright, with several lounge areas, cinema rooms a hairdressers, amazing garden and a reception area which is so welcoming. The food is cooked fresh with lots of variety. It took a while for mum to settle, I never thought she would but she did. Her mental state has improved, as well as her sleep and appetite. She's involved with the fantastic activities they put on and has made some nice friends. As her daughter I feel relieved that she is now in a safe environment with people that actually care. Thank you Marnel, it's been a long road but it was worth every step.

I stayed in Marnel Lodge for 2 weeks as respite before returning home after 2 major operations. I did not need care but staff were willing to help if I did need it.
I had to ask for my bed linen to be changed after my first week. (Linen was never ironed).

On some occasions my breakfast did not appear exactly as ordered which was irritating but not vital. (lack of understanding by care worker?)

My mother had a week's respite stay at the Marnell Lodge at the end of last year after having broken her left knee. I can say that from the admin staff through to all the caring staff, everyone at the Marnel Lodge are just wonderful. They all took time to greet mom on her arrival and all stayed for a little chat so that she could feel welcome. The staff all reassured me as well that I wasn't to worry, that mom would be just fine for the week with them and she was. She absolultely loved her stay there and wouldn't hesitate to go in for another respite week if the need arose. Thank you to you all for the care that you showed both mom and I.

We couldn't be more pleased with the care my wife is receiving at Marnel. The facilities are excellent and the care staff are superb. I have great admiration for the way they look after some 30+ residents, each with different needs and levels of need. The same goes for the nursing, catering and household staff, who are all excellent.

My mum was a resident for nearly three years. Can't praise the staff enough. So helpful and caring to my mum and me. I had no concerns with her being in Marnel Lodge all my worries were taken away as they looked after her exceptionally well right up to her passing. It's home from home for the residents. Always something going on to keep them entertained. Nursing staff on hand 24/7 which was such a relief as mum started to deteriorate with her age being 99. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for care of a loved one.

My grandad is currently staying at Marnel Care Lodge, and I honestly can't praise the place highly enough. From the moment you walk in, it's clear how well cared for the home is - it's always spotlessly clean, welcoming, and wonderfully warm, creating a comfortable and reassuring environment for residents and visitors alike.
What truly makes Marnel Care Lodge special, though, is the staff. Every member of the team is kind, attentive, and genuinely caring, and it's obvious they take great pride in the wellbeing of the people they look after. As a family, it gives us huge peace of mind knowing my grandad is in such safe and compassionate hands.

Thank you to everyone at Marnel Care Lodge for the outstanding care and dedication you show - it truly means the world to us

My late wife was already a Resident at Marnel Lodge when I first visited her. From the outset it was obvious that the home was well run and very efficient. The surroundings were clean and tidy and the decoration and furnishings to a high standard and the administrative and reception staff were most welcoming. The nursing staff were also excellent and because my wife suffered from a hiatal hernia she had to be on a restricted diet which was recognised by the catering staff. The domestic staff ensured that my wife's room was always clean and tidy and her clothing was laundered on a daily basis and the maintenance staff always carried out any repairs. Marnel Lodge also employs activity staff who organise a variety of events and my wife was able to take advantage of these. She also enjoyed the use of the garden with refreshments from the self-service facility in the reception area. So I have no hesitation in recommending Marnel Lodge to anyone seeking care for some with Dementia.

Marnel Lodge is the most amazing care home. My dad was looked after incredibly well by everyone and his needs and wishes were always respected, with staff making sure he was consulted and listened to regarding his care.
When dad was nearing the end of his life, the home went out of their way to make sure he had everything he wanted & needed, & also took amazing care of us too.

Our family couldn't have been happier with the care our dad received and we would recommend Marnel Lodge to anyone looking for a wonderful place to live.

Dad has Dementia, Diabetes and mobility issues. After living with me for nearly a year we decided my home wasn't able to cope with his needs. We looked at several care homes, but when we saw the outside of Marnel Lodge with all its Union Jack bunting to celebrate VE Day, Dad was hooked. We were invited in for a coffee and some cake and a warm welcome. They answered our questions and offered to show us around. Dad was assessed by the manager and started a 2 week respite all within 5 days. Whilst we were both nervous about this change Dad decided to stay full time within his 1st week. They are keen too know Dad and me. There are a lot of activities due to an amazing activities team. The care staff are patient and supportive and go the extra mile to assist Dad. The nurses have managed to help with Dads diabetes and general wellbeing. It really is a home from home. The management team really do get involved with the residents and their families. Thank you so much

We have been visiting a sick friend with Parkinson's for the last three years. He was unable to move but his brain was still brilliant. An added complication was his autism which made things doubly difficult for Marnel Lodge. He was not an easy patient! Throughout this time we have met with nothing but efficiency from the admin staff and a truly caring attitude from the nursing staff. We were especially touched when three members of staff travelled to the funeral. I simply cannot fault any aspect of the place and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Marnel Lodge to anyone considering a Nursing Home for a loved one.

After making the difficult decision for our brother in law to go into a care home following numerous hospital admissions and declining health , we couldn't have made a better choice than Marnel Lodge.

The admission process was made very easy by all staff involved, and right from the start it was a warm and welcoming environment . The care given by everyone is excellent , and we were given regular updates on any health concerns, which were dealt with promptly and efficiently. The various activities , outings and entertainment provide a great social atmosphere , and stimulating environment , and you feel as though you are part of one large family.

You know that feeling you have when you've found a place that you just know is the one ? Marnel Lodge is that place.
Our Dad has been a resident here since March 25.
The home doesn't just take on a person, they take the whole family on. The warm welcome we have received from everyone has been wonderful. They have put our minds at ease. We know that our Dad is being shown kindness, dignity, respect and support.
The whole team show professionalism, care and commitment to all the residents.
The leadership at Marnel Lodge is strong. You can sense that staff are supported and the morale is high.

I love that you can get yourself a cup of tea, chat with staff and residents and feel like you're part of the Marnel family.

My Mum came to Marnel Lodge care home towards the end of 2024 with increasing frailty as a result of advanced Dementia. The home was recommended to me by a friend who's relative had spent many happy years there. The home itself is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated with lots of family-friendly spaces. I am always impressed by the hard work, dedication and kindness of the nurses, care staff and activities organisers and there is a full and varied schedule every week of events. It is never an easy decision to place a loved one into full-time care but I do think it gives peace of mind to the family and continuity of care to the resident. I feel Mum is in safe hands and all her needs (and more!) are being met.

I decided to do Respite Care for myself after a hip replacement, looked on internet and found Marnel Lodge, which was close to my home. Went to have a look, as I really didn't know what to expect. The moment I walked, I was made to feel very welcome. Everything was explained to me , they showed me around. So on the 13/11/24 I arrived at 5:30pm from hip replacement op, staying for 2 weeks. What a 2 weeks it was, absolutely fantastic. I was at least 30 years younger than the other residents, but that wasn't a problem.
Staff were so friendly, caring and always had time for you. I had a great time getting to know my elders and had a great fun, joining them in the different activities offered. I made some lovely new friends with staff and residents. It was just what I needed, rest, making rehab much quicker.
I have been back to visit and again was welcomed with open arms by staff and new found friends .

They have just finished having a refurb, which is beautiful. Highly recommend
