I find Acer House a friendly and caring place for my dad to live, it is reassuring for me to know he is being well looked after. My dad lived in a flat on his own before he came to Acer House and it got to the stage where he was struggling, I looked at several care homes and I'm glad he has a place in Acer House.

My mum was at Acer House for 2.5 years and it took her a while to settle in but once she had she was very happy there and loved all the staff. My mum died in November and the care and support of all the staff was excellent. They were all very supportive of my sister and I at a very sad time. They gave my mum the best of care and cannot fault them.

My mum was a resident since May 2021 and sadly passed away on the 25th of November 2023.

In her time at Acer House, my mum was very happy and felt at home. She felt safe and comfortable. For the family, we were happy in the knowledge that she was well cared for. The support from the care staff was excellent and we were also supported as my mum's health declined. Acer House has been very supportive of my mum, and also the family after we lost her. A big thank you to Acer House.

After a period of trying to select a respite care home for my elderly mum that would be suitable, we finally decided to go for Acer House Care Home. When we first asked for recommendations for respite care on social media we had immediate responses from friends with extreme credibility in this field. When we visited the care home we were instantly blown away by the professionalism of the staff who greeted us and made us feel so very welcome. We instantly knew that we were making the right choice for my mum due to the incredible staff and management set-up in place at Acer Care Home. After dropping my mum off and watching her engage with the other residents combined with the way in which the staff made her feel so amazing as a new resident, definitely put a tear in my eyes. Thank you so much Acer House for putting our minds at rest knowing that my mum is definitely in the best care we have ever seen.

My father went to Acer House Care Home after a stay in hospital. He has been well cared for and settled quickly due to the care, diligence and patience of all the staff. As he, himself, said referring to the staff ‘They are very kind and look after me very well, I am happy here.’ I was very impressed with the way his medical needs were met and if he requires help at any time he only has to press a button which staff are quick to respond to.
The manager and her deputy know their residents well. They go out of their way to ensure needs are met and our family have been well supported. The staff in the reception area are very accommodating and helpful with any queries. Medication is administered by competent staff.

This is a lovely care home with fantastic, professional staff.

What an amazing place for someone you care for to live. Care and respect are foremost at Acer House Care Home. My friend has been treated, in her words, ‘like the queen’, she has been in respite prior to residing here at different homes in the area but was not happy in any of them. Knowing she is happy and loving living at Acer House is fantastic. The care you offer her never falters, even when she has bad days, the patience of your team is their strength. Thank you for everything you do.

Both of my parents are residents in Acer House Care Home, which was a difficult transition for all family members.

However, from the moment you arrive in the building you are made to feel welcome, the receptionists, care staff, support staff and managers are all very friendly and kind. My parents have received the care and support they need and have nothing but praise for the management and staff; my father says that nothing is too much trouble for them and my mother enjoys many of the activities that are on offer. We moved my aunt into Acer House Care Home in February, having researched alternatives. Did we get the decision right? Without a doubt. My aunt is happy and enjoys the activities which are provided as well as the food - she has put on weight since she moved there.

We now have no concerns on her welfare as we feel she is in safe hands - the staff are brilliant. Some will say it is not cheap - I agree but you get what you pay for - a first-class care home where the residents matter!

Sam EaldenJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2019

Hello, my name is Sam, and I am delighted to be the Home Manager here at Acer House.

I have 20 years of experience within the healthcare sector and have achieved qualifications including Levels 2, 3, and 5 Health and Social Care Diplomas, PTTLS Level 3, and Level 3 Health and Safety. Working in residential and nursing settings, I have been lucky enough to have a variety of roles including, a Carer/Senior Carer, Home trainer, Housekeeping, Chef, Activities Co-ordinator, and Deputy Manager, gaining plenty of experience and valuable skills.

Within this time, I have shared many treasurable moments with the residents I have had the pleasure to meet along the way. One moment that I will cherish throughout my career was when I had the privilege to be taught how to knit by a very skilful resident living with dementia. It is such a great talent to withhold, and you will now often find me trying to join in with our knit-and-natter club.

I would best describe myself as someone who is very passionate, determined, and strong-minded. In my spare time, I spend most weekends cheering my son on from the sidelines at his football matches and love relaxing in the garden with my family.

Avery Healthcare, owners of Acer House, best stands out for their spacious, luxurious rooms, exceptional well-being programmes and highly trained, dedicated staff. And Acer House is no different. Our home is ideally situated in Weston-super-Mare, next to a beautiful park and boules green which is a favourite amenity amongst our residents.

I look forward to welcoming you to the Acer House community.
