Briarscroft has a team who are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents, with activities and experiences which bring them joy. Providing residential and dementia care, they also offer respite care breaks.

The community are embraced into life in the home, with regular visits from people who treat the residents to everything from Bollywood dancing and African drumming to gentle exercise sessions and live music.

Local school children regularly pop into the home, as does miniature Dachshund Herbert! The home also has two cats, a cockatiel and a budgie!

The residents enjoy trips out into the community, from the local shops to Planet Ice, where they can enjoy seasonal productions.

The team are passionate about supporting the residents to have a very active role to play in how their home is run, giving them a sense of purpose and belonging. There are a team of resident ambassadors, who do everything from interviewing potential staff and providing feedback, to welcoming new residents and their families to Briarscroft.

The beautiful gardens stretch all the way round the home and back onto Shard End Lake. With a potting shed, raised planters and wheelchair friendly pathways, they are the perfect spot to relax in the summer. This year the team and residents have loved growing their own tomatoes and herbs, harvesting them for the chef to use in the kitchen, giving them such a sense of achievement.

The home also has a cinema room, with a candyfloss and popcorn machine, a hair salon, for weekly appointments with a mobile hairdresser, and a bistro, which is a lovely spot to relax with loved ones, who are welcome at any time.

Briarscroft also has welcoming lounges and dining rooms, where residents enjoy delicious home-cooked meals, from roast dinners with all the trimmings to freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea, as well as regular cheese and wine evenings and homemade cocktails!

Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2025 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1159 but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.

My mother has been at Briarscroft for five years. We have found the home to be clean. The food is very good and varied. When we have had problems or complaints, management does their utmost to sort it out. The carers, on the whole, are very good but as with all workplaces, you have ups and downs but
this wouldn't deter me from recommending Briarscroft to anyone.

Mom has been in Briarscroft for 3 years and once settled she has been very happy. The staff are lovely and very caring. Mom has made lots of friends and is very well looked after. As a family, we would highly recommend Briarscroft.

As mother becomes increasingly more elderly (94 this week) it is comforting to see the way she is loved, cherished and cared for by such a warm team of carers. I am grateful that she resides in Briarscroft Residential Care Home and cannot say "Thank You" loudly enough to those who look after her.

2 rubbish bins in mothers room always full not sure when emptied, floor always messy not cleaned, clothes go missing, medication is given but not supervised. Not sure whether medication has actually been taken, have to wait to be let into the building, nobody available to open the door. Overall, could
do better, staff are trying to do a job under difficult circumstances.

The care is excellent at Briarscroft. The home is clean and tidy and well maintained. If there are any issues over my father's care it is promptly dealt with. If he is unwell, I am phoned and informed about how Briarscroft are dealing with the situation ie he is on 24-hour review or the doctor has been
called. If my father is anxious, the staff will do their best to calm him. My father enjoys the food and the staff offer drinks and snacks as required. Overall, I am pleased with my father's care. I would recommend this home to others.

The home is very well designed and appears to cater for all needs. I am impressed with the bistro lounge - you don't often see this facility in a care home. Very comfortable residents rooms with en suite. The care home has a "homely" atmosphere and staff are very welcoming.

The majority of staff are excellent, unfortunately, the few who are not are poor. Examples of poor practice - walking into bathrooms and shouting at the resident; staff telling residents they will not make them a drink, even if they are able to; not emptying water night bottles; pulling a duvet over
a soiled sheet.


Poor staff need to be aware that they should treat residents as customers of a service, after all without the residents the home would not be needed, or the staff. This should be the home's priority and close to Sanctuary branding 'keeping kindness at the heart of our care!'.

I can really only speak about our experience with my mother.


On the whole, I am satisfied. I do feel that more interaction is needed with some residents, just chatting and music needed on residential units.


Weekends can be understaffed, which can concern us!

Myself and the rest of our family experiences / found the Briarscroft Residential Care Home to be a recently built, modern, bright and spacious building.
Mom's room over looked a big part of recreation ground which gave the impression of being in a rural area and not a large built up city like Birmingham.
However,
the building is not enough without caring, dedicated, kind, friendly and professional staff which found all of the staff at Briarscroft to be.

My father came into Briarscroft Care Home with anxiety and depression, his weight had fallen to just over 6stone.
He is now settled after a lot of care and patience to understand his problems and has gained weight by eating a diet to suit his anxiety in swallowing.
The staff have done a wonderful
job in understanding his anxiety and has put the families mind at ease knowing our dad is well cared for, 24 hours a day.
The home is always clean and tidy, the staff are friendly and they have a good programme of activities.
The only negative comment is that the home could do with air conditioning, as it's extremely hot in the communal areas.

Sadly, after 9 months, Mom has had to leave Briarscroft to go into a nursing home. During her time at Briarscroft, Mom improved physically, made friends, and was treated with care and dignity. I cannot praise the staff and management enough for their care of Mom. Nowhere is perfect but Briarscroft
comes very close. We are very sorry that Mom is unable to spend longer in this wonderful home.

Nan has recently moved into Briarscroft following a hospital admission. As someone who is young and new to the whole process, Briarscroft have been great. The staff supported me through the whole process to make me feel at ease as a relative as well as going above and beyond to make Nan feel part of
the home and adapting their style of work to meet her individual needs. There's a lovely family atmosphere at Briarscroft. The majority of staff are approachable and proactive. You actually forget it's a residential home. It's very modern and clean. There are multiple areas to relax and any concerns or requests are listened to. Food is freshly prepared and a there is a dedicated activities coordinator on site. I have no concerns at all really. Communication is great and the staff seem to have a good working relationship as well as with other healthcare professionals. Although it's early days, I am confident Briarscroft is the right place for Nan and that they'll continue to maintain their high standards moving forward.
