Lovely care home. The staff is wonderful, caring, and approachable. They have done a fantastic job during the coronavirus, staying free of the virus and caring for the residents so well keeping their spirits up during this confusing and difficult time. Thank you Briarscroft.

Just been informed that all residents have tested negative for the Covid-19 virus.
This is a testament to all the hard work of the staff and management. We should congratulate all of them and be thankful our relatives are being cared for so well.
Congratulations to all the staff and hopefully the status will be maintained in these difficult times.

Thank you to you all

My mother has been at Briarscroft for five years. We have found the home to be clean. The food is very good and varied. When we have had problems or complaints, management does their utmost to sort it out. The carers, on the whole, are very good but as with all workplaces, you have ups and downs but this wouldn't deter me from recommending Briarscroft to anyone.

The care home is bright and friendly. Beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Lots of attention to detail to make the residents content and happy. All the staff I have been in contact with have been friendly and helpful. Such a lovely care home.

As mother becomes increasingly more elderly (94 this week) it is comforting to see the way she is loved, cherished and cared for by such a warm team of carers. I am grateful that she resides in Briarscroft Residential Care Home and cannot say "Thank You" loudly enough to those who look after her.

2 rubbish bins in mothers room always full not sure when emptied, floor always messy not cleaned, clothes go missing, medication is given but not supervised. Not sure whether medication has actually been taken, have to wait to be let into the building, nobody available to open the door. Overall, could do better, staff are trying to do a job under difficult circumstances.

I’m really saddened to read your comments. I have been the home’s manager since the summer and although I know you raised concerns with a previous manager I am confident that your review isn’t a current reflection of our home.

The home is not too bad at all, but they could do with more staff. It's a pity there aren't more activities to get residents involved or occupy their minds.

The care is excellent at Briarscroft. The home is clean and tidy and well maintained. If there are any issues over my father's care it is promptly dealt with. If he is unwell, I am phoned and informed about how Briarscroft are dealing with the situation ie he is on 24-hour review or the doctor has been called. If my father is anxious, the staff will do their best to calm him. My father enjoys the food and the staff offer drinks and snacks as required. Overall, I am pleased with my father's care. I would recommend this home to others.

The home is very well designed and appears to cater for all needs. I am impressed with the bistro lounge - you don't often see this facility in a care home. Very comfortable residents rooms with en suite. The care home has a "homely" atmosphere and staff are very welcoming.

Review from J G (Daughter of Resident) published on 18 September 2017 Submitted via Postal Card

The majority of staff are excellent, unfortunately, the few who are not are poor. Examples of poor practice - walking into bathrooms and shouting at the resident; staff telling residents they will not make them a drink, even if they are able to; not emptying water night bottles; pulling a duvet over a soiled sheet.

Poor staff need to be aware that they should treat residents as customers of a service, after all without the residents the home would not be needed, or the staff. This should be the home's priority and close to Sanctuary branding 'keeping kindness at the heart of our care!'.

I can really only speak about our experience with my mother.

On the whole, I am satisfied. I do feel that more interaction is needed with some residents, just chatting and music needed on residential units.

Weekends can be understaffed, which can concern us!

My mother is self-funded.

Myself and the rest of our family experiences / found the Briarscroft Residential Care Home to be a recently built, modern, bright and spacious building.
Mom's room over looked a big part of recreation ground which gave the impression of being in a rural area and not a large built up city like Birmingham.

However, the building is not enough without caring, dedicated, kind, friendly and professional staff which found all of the staff at Briarscroft to be.

My father came into Briarscroft Care Home with anxiety and depression, his weight had fallen to just over 6stone.
He is now settled after a lot of care and patience to understand his problems and has gained weight by eating a diet to suit his anxiety in swallowing.
The staff have done a wonderful job in understanding his anxiety and has put the families mind at ease knowing our dad is well cared for, 24 hours a day.
The home is always clean and tidy, the staff are friendly and they have a good programme of activities.

The only negative comment is that the home could do with air conditioning, as it's extremely hot in the communal areas.

My mother has been resident here for the last 4 years. We are satisfied that her excellent care and support has allowed her to live a full and reasonably active life.

I have nothing but praise for the home, its staff and the back office organisation. My mother has vascular dementia and is 95 years old.
