My nan has gone into Briarscroft for respite. She has settled so well she said it's better than her own home so she's staying. Always someone to speak to residents and staff. The staff are amazing, you walk in and the smiles and laughter it's like you walking into a welcome party, it's bright and welcoming and the cleanliness smells so lovely not like the usual care home smell.

As soon as you walk there is a beautiful staircase. Special occasions are celebrated so lovely activities are constantly. I'm just so very happy and I can visit when I can, apart from meal times but I'm happy she can have her meals in peace and with her friends.

This is an amazing care home. All the staff are lovely, and they treat residents well. They take great care of the resident's needs. And promote amazing festive activities. The facilities are amazing. The cleaning is amazing. They treat all patients with dignity.

Braiarscroft is an exceptional care home. Though I have rated "mainly good", if there are any issues/problems, they have been sorted straight away.
All the staff are kind, caring and compassionate.
Dad is always well looked after, clean and tidy.
The facilities and entertainment are also very good.

I would recommend Braiarscroft to anyone looking for a care home.

Review from Christine E (Sister of Resident) published on 14 July 2023 Submitted via Website

My sister has been a resident at Briarscroft Residential Care Home since April 2023. My sister can be very challenging with her dementia but the team are very caring when it comes to my sister.
When we first entered the home I felt the love and care of the home and staff, my sister is struggling to settle but this does not deter the carer's time for my sister, always there for her.
It's the little things that I have noticed such as carers coming up to my sister when starting their shift and giving her a hug and sitting chatting with her.
The food is extremely good my sister has even put some weight on. Her room is lovely clean and tidy, her washing is all returned tidy and well-ironed.
The activities are good with some good shows. My only slight criticism is that the odd sing-alongs recalls tunes from the last 2 world wars. When we had some modern singers singing popular current pop songs the residents seemed to interact more lively.

But Overall the home is excellent, loving and caring.

My friend moved into Briarscroft originally for two weeks respite care. She was really struggling at home. She had been to several other care homes over the years for respite care, but had never settled. However, since moving to Briarscroft, she absolutely loves it and decided to stay permanently. She has settled in so much and looks so well.

My mom is a new resident she seems great so far she has her off days but she does say they treat her well and has lots of tea! The carers are lovely and are very helpful and friendly, it's nice to be able to call and speak to them in person too.

Thank you for taking the time to review our home - it is so appreciated. The transition into care can be difficult for both our residents and their loved ones so it is lovely to hear she is happy with our team's care and of course, the food! Our team are always here for you if you ever have any questions or feedback. Best wishes, Fae

Every time we visit the home to visit a friend, we always get such a friendly welcome from the receptionist and administrator. The care staff are always interacting with activities and make the residents smile. There is always a good atmosphere in the home. We know there is a new manager in the home now and you can tell they are doing a good job in running the care home. I take my hat off to everyone that works there and keep up the amazing work you are doing. Thank you

Every time I see my mam she is sitting in urine, soaking wet, her fingernails disgustingly filthy and when I report it all they ever say is we have just sat her there and we are not allowed to touch her fingernails! So now they keep putting nail varnish on to cover the dirt up. Most of the carers in this home are rude and shouldn't be there.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are disappointed to read about your mum’s care and we would like to reassure you that this isn’t the standard of care we provide to our residents.

We have investigated your concerns and we haven’t received an official complaint from you....

Although I was at first reluctant to place my wife in care, since being in Briarscroft she appears to have settled in very well, no doubt because of the attention she is receiving from all of the staff. I feel relieved that although I don't want her to be away nevertheless I am in no doubt that she is being well looked after which gives me some form of solace.

Care was of the highest quality. The staff would always have time for her and would go above and beyond what was generally expected. A very modern, clean and tidy environment. The bistro area for families was a lovely addition, where we could relax and drink tea and coffee with our loved ones.

My aunt has been well cared for and I have been pleased with the care that she has received. The staff have done a brilliant job caring for her.

Unfortunately, because the home is unable to offer my aunt the medical care she needs, we have very reluctantly moved her to another home recently. We were very sorry to have to do this.

The staff give my Dad space to be himself. He has a particular routine and they do not interrupt this. They keep a close eye on his health and make sure he is coping with his lung disorder. The male staff know his love of sport and allow him to view live sports on their phone. So very kind. Thank you.

Caring and made sure Mum was safe, secure, happy, and also entertained and not just left in their room. Mum was extremely happy and she adored the activities organiser who treated her with so much respect. All staff were caring and even shed a tear the day Mum passed away.
