West Cliff Hall Care Home

My Mother has been a resident for about 4 years and her increasing frailty has been managed with kindness and compassion. As far as I can tell, the COVID crisis has been very well managed and communication with relatives has been good.

A massive thank you to all the staff for looking after Mum. Although I live in Spain I've been able to keep in contact via video calls and phone calls provided by staff that are so kind. I have always felt that throughout the pandemic all measures of safety have been taken and I felt that mum was safe which gave me peace of mind as I am unable to come over and visit. Thank you once again, keep up the good work!

Since our mother has been here, we have found all the staff very nice and helpful. They are helpful to our mother all the time. It is a beautiful home with lovely rooms. Always clean.

Our dad was diagnosed with dementia 3 years ago. We have been struggling to keep Dad safe and happy in his own home until now but Dad has recently had some falls and this January Dad went into West Cliff for the second time for respite care. On both occasions, the staff have been so welcoming and supportive at very short notice. People with dementia never forget bad feelings. Our dad was very happy to go back to West Cliff again. This says everything to me about the quality of care he has received. He is building a very happy relationship with the staff who are very sympathetic to his physical and emotional needs. Whenever I visit I have seen the staff spending time sitting and talking to their residents. So far I cannot fault West Cliff. All the staff I have met are sensitive, caring and helpful people who create a homely atmosphere for their residents and their family. West Cliff has really taken a massive weight off my shoulders and I have no hesitation in recommending West Cliff.

I have enjoyed my stay here. Staff are excellent. I would love to come again. The food is excellent. What more can I say.

Under difficult circumstances, the staff at West Cliff helped in every way possible to accommodate our wishes. They did exactly what they said they would efficiently and with genuine care for our mum. A particular thank you to the admissions staff.

All of the staff have dads best interests at heart. Even if dad is having a "testing" day they take it in their stride and ensure he is happy. A genuine interest is taken in his wellbeing from personal care, medication and catering.

A tendency for staff to say I will see that a member of staff attends to it but frequently, nothing happens.

My mother in law has been in West Cliff for a couple of years and is generally happy with where she is although she does not tend to participate in activities or mix with other residents but this is her choice.

Not only is this a very clean facility but above all what is most important to me are the people who work there. They are very friendly and kind towards my Dad - the resident - and myself. I often call from overseas where I live and they go out of their way to find my father in the building and take a cell phone to him so we can talk. My father does not know how to use a phone in his room or how to use a cell phone on his own. It means so much to me that they go out of their way to please me and my father in this small but big way for us. Also, they have set up Skype Video for us to use occasionally. I can call from the United States and speak to my father. It is awesome to see him face to face. I really appreciate how they have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help us in the difficult time. God bless West Cliff Hall staff and managers! Thank you!

The care and support she receives are faultless. I am so thankful she is in a lovely home being cared for in such a kind and friendly way.

My husband spent two weeks in respite and I was pleased although he did not socialise and stayed in his room as far as I can gather.

Our Dad stayed at West Cliff Hall last year and he was very happy there. His mental well-being and physical capabilities improved enormously (he had Parkinson's and early dementia). Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, and all the staff - the carers, management, cleaners, kitchen and maintenance staff got to know Dad and knew him by name and took care to get to know the little things that made him comfortable and the food and treats he enjoyed.

Family and friends were always treated very inclusively when we visited, and we were looked after, too: the staff were very helpful and attentive to us and offered cups of tea and invited us to stay for food with Dad. We were very impressed on each visit that all the staff were up-to-date with how Dad was and where in the building he was, what he was doing, and the fact that we were welcome to visit at any time without any forewarning was really important. The atmosphere at West Cliff Hall is a happy and caring one.

Due to deteriorating health issues, my father has now made the correct decision to stay permanently at West Cliff. The staff have been outstanding in assisting him with his decision and have made every effort to make him comfortable in a warm, friendly and vibrant environment that suits his character. They do their utmost best to meet all his requests and deliver the most exceptional good food, fun, entertainment, clean laundry, plenty of cups of tea and very good care all of which have contributed greatly to my father's happiness and well being.

The staff are extremely polite, caring, cheerful and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble even when the carers are rushed off their feet always having time for a friendly chat with the residents.

This was my fathers 3rd stay for respite, he enjoys his visits and hopes to return again.
