In difficult times, the one thing we haven't had to worry about is our mum's care. They have kept her safe from the virus and done everything they can to keep us in contact with her. It's been difficult as her communication has deteriorated considerably. The team has tried Facetime calls and allowed
visits but under very strict rules. Despite the difficulties caused by masks and distancing rules, the staff have always been on hand to support her. At times she has been distraught when we leave but we know that she is taken special care of until she is feeling better again. Staff have even stepped into the role of a hairdresser and given her manicures to keep her feeling good about herself. It's been great to receive photos of her looking well and happy too. Mum can't say much these days but the way she smiles at, and holds of the hands of her carers, you can see that she loves them. They are her family in really difficult times. Thank you to everyone at West Cliff Hall.

What used to be a fabulous care/nursing home has become utterly substandard. The care of patients has deteriorated, medicine errors not uncommon. The food choices and quality are now very poor for residents. The management's ability to tackle and resolve issues is lacking. Most of the care staff try
their best in challenging staffing conditions. One or two staff are simply appalling and are inadequately dealt with by management. We got my father in law out of there and he's now thriving in an independent care home.

My Father spent 4 years at West Cliff Hall. In that time he has seen 8 different people in charge of the home, that tells its own story. Unfortunately, the manager in charge now is appalling and is well out of her depth. The care is very poor, and they do not take well to any criticism of their care.
They are looking for clients who do not have a voice, thus will not receive any complaints to CQC. The food is awful and has been a constant issue, but never dealt with. Medicines are often messed up and concerns are never dealt with. The rooms are lovely and big, the facilities are really nice, and they do have some lovely staff, unfortunately, some are very poor. In my opinion, I would not recommend this home to anybody looking for competent care of their loved one

My Mother has been a resident for about 4 years and her increasing frailty has been managed with kindness and compassion. As far as I can tell, the COVID crisis has been very well managed and communication with relatives has been good.

A massive thank you to all the staff for looking after Mum. Although I live in Spain I've been able to keep in contact via video calls and phone calls provided by staff that are so kind. I have always felt that throughout the pandemic all measures of safety have been taken and I felt that mum was safe
which gave me peace of mind as I am unable to come over and visit. Thank you once again, keep up the good work!

My parents-in-law came to stay for 2 weeks respite (of their own choice) in July 2019. In the past, they have gone on cruises but feel this would be too much for them now as they are both in their 90s with father-in-law having Alzheimer's.
They thoroughly enjoyed their stay. In particular, being looked

Our dad was diagnosed with dementia 3 years ago. We have been struggling to keep Dad safe and happy in his own home until now but Dad has recently had some falls and this January Dad went into West Cliff for the second time for respite care. On both occasions, the staff have been so welcoming and supportive
at very short notice. People with dementia never forget bad feelings. Our dad was very happy to go back to West Cliff again. This says everything to me about the quality of care he has received. He is building a very happy relationship with the staff who are very sympathetic to his physical and emotional needs. Whenever I visit I have seen the staff spending time sitting and talking to their residents. So far I cannot fault West Cliff. All the staff I have met are sensitive, caring and helpful people who create a homely atmosphere for their residents and their family. West Cliff has really taken a massive weight off my shoulders and I have no hesitation in recommending West Cliff.

Under difficult circumstances, the staff at West Cliff helped in every way possible to accommodate our wishes. They did exactly what they said they would efficiently and with genuine care for our mum. A particular thank you to the admissions staff.

All of the staff have dads best interests at heart. Even if dad is having a "testing" day they take it in their stride and ensure he is happy. A genuine interest is taken in his wellbeing from personal care, medication and catering.

Not only is this a very clean facility but above all what is most important to me are the people who work there. They are very friendly and kind towards my Dad - the resident - and myself. I often call from overseas where I live and they go out of their way to find my father in the building and take
a cell phone to him so we can talk. My father does not know how to use a phone in his room or how to use a cell phone on his own. It means so much to me that they go out of their way to please me and my father in this small but big way for us. Also, they have set up Skype Video for us to use occasionally. I can call from the United States and speak to my father. It is awesome to see him face to face. I really appreciate how they have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help us in the difficult time. God bless West Cliff Hall staff and managers! Thank you!

MUm has been a resident at West Cliff for the last 18 months. Her transition from home and hospital was excellent and she settled in very quickly and well.
The care and support she receives are faultless. I am so thankful she is in a lovely home being cared for in such a kind and friendly way.
