My partner stayed here for 5 months or so and I will say the staff are all lovely and so friendly. The food is good and I'm allowed to stay to lunch on occasions with my partner which is great. The gardens are well cared for and the back has a great aspect to Southampton Water, which enables residents
to view all the cruise and cargo ships that use the port.

The care provided to my mother has been of the highest level with extremely compassionate carers, who treat her with respect, dignity and friendship. The only area of concern has been the turnover in management. However, the recent appointment of the manager who has previous experience of this home
appears to be a step in the right direction to resolve this issue.

My Mum and Dad have been residents at West Cliff Hall Care Home over the last few years. My Dad passed away in 2018 and my Mum this September. They were both very well cared for during all their time and they were very happy and content to be residents.
We have also been pleased with all aspects of
the service and care given to them in their later years. Thank you to all the staff especially recently when Mum passed away.

I have been here for 2.5 years and have mostly enjoyed it. I have completed the ratings below would sum it up for me. I have had a few problems with another resident but she is no longer a resident here. It was sorted out by the senior carers. The food is satisfactory because it is sometimes very good
and sometimes cold. The menu needs to be sorted out as recently there is only one main course and only one vegetarian course. I understand that there is now a trolley to keep the food warm.

The staff made a lot of effort to make my auntie's birthday surprise so nice. As we have not been able to visit because of the pandemic, it was so nice to finally sit in the beautiful garden again. The staff are very considerate, helpful and caring. All the covid work practices were strictly adhered
to but it was still a lovely celebration. Cake, food and decorations were wonderful. Thanks, everyone.

My lovely mum had been living at home with us, but I had been struggling to cope with three teenage daughters and the constant care that she required, suffering from Alzheimer's. She originally only went to West Cliff Hall for respite care whilst we went on holiday, which I found traumatic. I remember
leaving her there and hating myself, but she actually ended up staying permanently, as she settled in so well. It was a heartbreaking decision and I found it so difficult to hand over the care of my mother to someone else. The staff at West Cliff Hall are all amazing people and their cheerful kindness and professionalism offer a safe, caring environment, making the best of an agonising situation. Together, they provide wonderful care, constant companionship, fun activities, smiles, hugs and compassion. The home is beautiful, with lovely rooms and a fabulous setting, but the staff make it an amazing home. Thank you.

My mother likes her room. The food is good, but the portions are too large. She gets on well with her carers but does sometimes feel isolated. She would like them to stop in for a chat without making her feel they need to get on with the next task. They seem to rush up and down the corridors a lot.
She has found the lockdown very difficult and looks forward to face to face visits again.

I would like to express the heartfelt gratitude of my family and I for the outstanding care my mother has received as a resident of the Mayflower wing of West Cliff Hall care home. All members of the team have displayed consistent, professional, caring, compassionate dedication to delivering holistic
care both to my mother and supporting my sister and I after my mother's severe stroke and subsequent TIA. It has been clear to see the bond and trust my mother shares with the staff and the strong communication with attending district nurses and their ancillary team. Mum was transferred to the Mayflower wing of Westcliff Hall from hospital following a stroke. We have been so grateful for the excellent care Mum has received, the dedication of the staff and the connection Mum has made with all the staff. As Mum sadly has reached the end of her life, we were able to
witness first hand just what wonderful care Mum was receiving, and also how supportive the staff were with my sister and I.

My father is I believe the longest residing resident in West Cliff. He has been there for eight years.
Recently, his well being has failed, and I have to say the staff have been marvellous. We have benefitted from visits during these strange times. The young lady on reception is marvellous as are
two of the care staff in particular who have interacted with us in an honest and sympathetic way. They have organised swift, short term visits, explained medical issues and made us feel very welcome in what must be a time of high work.
My father’s stay at West Cliff has been and still is a reassuring one. He is warm, clean, well-fed and I feel - valued.
Well done the West Cliff team.

My mum had been a resident at West Cliff Hall for just a year when she sadly passed on. During the year, she had thrived and although she spent quite a lot time in bed, she was encouraged to socialise and did make friends with a couple of the residents. The staff were caring and skilled in coping with
her dementia.
My special thanks go to the two senior carers. They got to know Mum’s ways and knew how to get the best from her. But thanks must also go to all the staff for their love, care and compassion. We could not cope without them.
Although we did not get to Mum much in the last 6-months because of the Coronavirus, we were able to video call and phone her, but it was the last week of her life that we appreciate most. In our PPE, my sister and I were allowed to sit with her and during that time the staff looked after us too. As we sat with Mum, it was heartening to hear that they were kind and caring to everyone.
I cannot recommend West Cliff Hall enough.
