Charing House Care Home in Gillingham provides residential, dementia, nursing and respite for up to 88 residents and are able to accommodate funded as well as private clients.

There five separate wings, including the Bessie Parr Wing, the George Smith Wing, the William Griffin Wing, the Barry Hodgman Wing and the Freddie Cooper Wing. While the home has a lift to all floors in the building, ideal for those unable to manage stairs, and a service lift which runs separately to two of the home's floors.

The home is designed and furnished to ensure wheelchair access in all rooms and bathrooms at the home have either a static bath or shower tray large enough to accommodate lifting aids.

Charing House Care Home offers a range of specialist equipment designed to support care for all clients. All resident rooms are fitted with a nurse call system and some rooms have pressure mats which are linked to the call system in place.

Rooms also have telephone and aerial points, and suite furniture - one of which has a lockable facility should the client wish to maintain safekeeping for personal effects.

Each time I visit my Mum she seems happy and content. I've always been impressed with the friendliness and professionalism the staff have shown, not only to my Mum but also to others living at Charing House. Mum joins in the with the activities and has been eating much better since moving in. I'd have
no hesitation recommending Charing House to anyone.

The staff at Charing House have always been courteous and polite towards myself and father who has resided there for just over a year. My father's health conditions can make things tricky, however nothing ever seems too much effort for them and have always gone above and beyond. My father joins in with

Charing House's standard of care is very high. The staff are friendly, approachable and frequently go above and beyond to make my mothers and others living there feel at home. My dad has been at Charing House Care and Nursing Home for 6 months now and I can safely say the care he receives is second to none. My mother has been a resident at Charing House Care and Nursing Home for sometime now and I can't express how thankful I am for the care they give her. The staff can't do enough, they are caring and kind towards my mother for which I am immensely grateful and the manager since day one has been amazing.
My mother's room is always clean and the food is well cooked and plentiful. Would highly recommend Charing House.

The staff at Charing House have been so supportive to myself and my mother since she was admitted. It was never an easy decision for my mother to move into a care home, however it ended up being the right one. The staff are fantastic and support her with her care needs and since moving in I have noticed
her physical and social health improve. The care home is safe, warm and there are a lot of activities taking place.

Having my mum at Charing House is a big relief and a great comfort knowing that she is being so well cared for. The staff are brilliant, they are attentive, caring and have always communicated with myself well about my mother's well-being. Her room is kept clean and her clothing is well looked after

My sister died alone at this care home. I requested on numerous occasions to be contacted if there was even the slightest deterioration in her health and they didn't contact me until nearly 30 minutes after she died alone despite the timeline I'm being given showing they had ample time to. I asked for
an investigation which although completed was contradictory in its replies and didn't satisfactorily address any of the concerns raised. Every email sent has needed to be followed up weeks later requesting a reply and the staff member on firmly when I attended after my sisters' death just seemed disinterested and unbothered by the entire situation. Would never recommend this facility.

We are sorry that you feel the care given to your sister during her final hours was not to the high standard that we strive to achieve. We can assure you that your sister did not die alone and our care records along with statements from staff on shift clarify this so we are unsure why you feel this happened. That night we did offer/suggest you stay the night as we noticed a decline in your sister’s health, however you declined. Whilst we respect you feel your concerns raised weren’t addressed I can assure you that the home manager looked into all your concerns and carried out a thorough investigation. Our Director of Care offered to reply back to you whilst the home manager was on annual leave however you declined this offer and wanted to hear from the home manager, which is why there was a delay in the reply back to you.
Regarding your comments about the staff member being disinterested and unbothered about your sister’s death, this is simply not true. We investigated this and the staff member was shocked and disheartened that such a comment was made. We recognise that this must be a distressing time for you and your family and wish you all the best for the future.

My Mum is well cared for at Charing House Care and Nursing Home. The manager and staff are amazing, whenever I pop in to see her she is happy and well dressed. The home is lovely with there being a nice garden area and her room is spacious and clean. There are plenty of activities going on within the
home which is lovely to see.

The staff are fantastic at Charing House. My father is looked after superbly well and with the utmost care. I cannot thank the staff enough. There are a lot of activities put on, and all residents are encouraged to join in, and the food is good with there being plenty of drinks and snacks throughout

I am so grateful to all the staff and manager at Charing House. My Mum has settled in so well and I'm pleased she is now in safe and professional care. My mum's health and well being have greatly improved since she arrived at Charing House, she is eating well and is interacting with others. The facilities
are very clean and there are wonderful communal areas for all residents and their visitors to relax in.

The standard of care at Charing House is admirable. Whilst being a large care home, it is divided up into separate wings, which makes it feel very homely. The staff that look after my mother are all knowledgeable, well-trained and caring. The activities are engaging, and there is a fantastic outside

My mum suffers from dementia and can be challenging at times however the care staff are very patient with her and give her the time she needs which I am grateful for. They do lots of activities which everyone is encouraged to take part in and there is a nice outdoor garden area. The food is well made

I chose Charing House after viewing several care homes for my Father. I knew after viewing the home with the manager that Charing House was the right place for him and I’m happy to say they have met my expectations. The staff is very committed and caring, regular events are put on which friends and

I couldn’t have been happier with the choice I made by choosing Charing House Care & Nursing Home to look after my mother. Charing House is a very well-run care home with incredibly committed and caring staff. The atmosphere of the home is peaceful but vibrant and is clean throughout.
