Charing House Care Home in Gillingham provides residential, dementia, nursing and respite for up to 88 residents and are able to accommodate funded as well as private clients.

There five separate wings, including the Bessie Parr Wing, the George Smith Wing, the William Griffin Wing, the Barry Hodgman Wing and the Freddie Cooper Wing. While the home has a lift to all floors in the building, ideal for those unable to manage stairs, and a service lift which runs separately to two of the home's floors.

The home is designed and furnished to ensure wheelchair access in all rooms and bathrooms at the home have either a static bath or shower tray large enough to accommodate lifting aids.

Charing House Care Home offers a range of specialist equipment designed to support care for all clients. All resident rooms are fitted with a nurse call system and some rooms have pressure mats which are linked to the call system in place.

Rooms also have telephone and aerial points, and suite furniture - one of which has a lockable facility should the client wish to maintain safekeeping for personal effects.

My mother has been at Charing House since August 2017. The staff and management have always been supportive, not only to my Mother but to family members too. Mum has received excellent care and I am kept informed of any health or other issues during this difficult time. I could not have asked for a
better care home for Mum.

My mother has been at Charing House for a while now. I am really happy with the care Mum receives. Mum always looks happy and healthy so I really can’t ask for anymore. Charing House built a pagoda earlier in the year and last time I was there I saw Mum and all the residents outside under the pagoda,
while there was a singer there performing to them all. It is such a great thing for them to have built and has certainly been very good throughout Covid-19 as they are continuing with these special activities that I know my Mum enjoys.

The level of care the staff give to the residents is exceptional. The staff are always welcoming, compassionate and respectful towards my Mum and other residents. It gives me peace of mind knowing my Mum is being so well cared for. She is happy, well looked after and her room is spacious and clean,
I couldn’t ask for more. Would highly recommend Charing House to anyone looking for a care home.

During the current climate, all I can say is a very big thank you for taking such great care over my sister. She always, when I spoke to her, seemed happy with the care she received. When I had concerns and worries I was always able to speak with staff nurses and admin regularly and if not available
they would phone me back. Her key worker also put my mind at rest. It has been difficult with her loss but staff come out to wave her farewell.

The staff at Charing House Care & Nursing Home are great, they treat my Mum as they would their own. I go about my day knowing that she is being well cared for. The home is maintained to a good standard and there are no offensive smells. The home encourages my Mum to participate in the activities, which

This is an excellent home. The home is beautifully decorated throughout and has a homely feel to it from the moment you walk through the front door. The staff are great if ever I have any questions about my Dad's care, medication etc someone is always there to help. Thank you, everyone, at Charing House.

We saw several care homes before choosing Charing House. The home has an inviting warm feel to it and the staff are always helpful. Activities take place throughout the week, as well as outside entertainment coming into the home. Mum's room is kept clean and tidy and the food is good.

Charing House has provided great care for my Dad. The staff are kind, caring, friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble. I am kept informed about how he's doing and his room and the communal areas are kept clean and tidy. Thank you to all the staff who do such a great job.

I cannot praise this home enough. My mother was there for seven years so it is not a snap decision. She exceptionally well cared for every day. The home organised trips and activities for the able and visiting activities for the less able. The home is always very clean and tidy. The food is very good.
The staff are always eager to please very caring.
We found this home by chance and we count our blessings every day.

I have been pleased with how C/H has swiftly helped in the transition of Hospital to nursing home and the standard of care given to my mother.


The staff and nurses, including the carers the kitchen staff, cleaners and laundry staff have helped in providing a high level of work ethic and respect surrounding

my mother's needs.

I can't speak highly enough of Charing House. Firstly it's a beautiful building, very clean, warm and well furnished. Secondly, the care provided is exceptional. In these days of negative reports and concerns about care homes, I feel lucky to have found a place for my Mum at Charing House. She was happy
there and was extremely well cared for. The staff treated her with respect and dignity and always took her preferences into account when entering her room. I have been kept well informed of her well being especially towards the end of her days.

Mum was only in Charing House for a few weeks for end of life care. She was looked after so well. Staff were kind and efficient on the occasions I saw them interact with mum. The home is lovely, beautifully laid out and the rooms very pleasant and peaceful. Senior staff always had time to update on
mum's condition. A good, comfortable place to end her days.

Mum moved into the home in February 2012 until she passed away on 22 May 2018. She was always treated with kindness and dignity even at the very end. The management and carers provided an excellent service during her stay.

We have 2 activity coordinators as such, we have entertainment and activities regularly going on within the home. These are displayed on the activities board in reception, as well as newsletters. All residents are supported and encouraged to take part in activities, but some decline and are much happier to sit and watch, this in itself is an activity at times.


We offer all our residents 3 nutritious meals a day, which are breakfast, lunch and high tea, as well as snacks (biscuits, fruit, crisps, chocolate) and refreshments throughout the day.
