My dad has been at Rowan Lodge since August 2019 where he receives outstanding care. The team are fantastic, seeking to support my dad in every way possible and to make him as comfortable as possible. Their care is very genuine and they treat my dad as a family member. As his condition has worsened (he has Parkinson's and dementia) they have looked to best support his changing needs and the activities team are very creative and engaging. The team are also very helpful to me in understanding what is happening for dad and helping us to be able to have contact and visit during the difficult pandemic years. I could not recommend it more highly.
I am writing this on behalf of my husband, who was welcomed into Rowan Lodge. He was so happy and relieved to arrive there after twelve awful days in a Covid-19 ward in the hospital. It was definitely a relief for him to have very comfortable surroundings once again and caring staff. My only issue I think, would be that he was never offered a shower until I asked, the day before he left, for one to be given him. I was also hoping to be able to practice his walking up the stairs before we left Rowan Lodge, this was not possible.
Rowan Lodge is the perfect home for my wife and the care she has received since coming out of hospital 3 weeks ago has been exemplary. She has really benefited from the knowledgeable, kind and attentive care she is receiving.
My mother has now been a resident at Rowan Lodge for nearly a year. She settled in very quickly and seems to be in a very good state of health all round. My brother and I are delighted were her care.
All the staff at all levels are lovely and cheery and have great rapport with both her and us. It is also reassuring to see the same faces week in and out and not as one might expect in the sector a high turnover of agency staff.
We chose Rowan Lodge for the location and the quality of accommodation. Rowan Lodge provides nice airy rooms within a lovely quiet rural location, which is what my mother had been used to coming from Dorset and we have not been disappointed.
Rowan Lodge is the perfect place for my mother. She is so well looked after and all the people who work there care so much about her and all the residents. They know everyone personally and treat them as if they were their own loved family members. The effort they put into organising activities to make life interesting and fun for everyone is extraordinary. Mum loves the indoor bowls, the Tai Chi and the poetry reading and flower arranging as well as the visiting opera singers and entertainment. I can relax knowing that she is safe and well looked after. They are so thoughtful and care about me and my brother too, ensuring that we can see, visit and talk to Mum despite the challenges of occasional Covid quarantining. I have such praise and admiration for the employees and I highly recommend Rowan Lodge for elderly loved ones.
This was a big move for my 101 year old mum who had always prided herself on her independence. Although she wanted to continue living at home, it was clear that her decreasing mobility was becoming a serious problem and the whole family were concerned about her health and safety. She could not have been made more welcome by everyone at Rowan Lodge and soon settled into her new life. She is extremely well looked after and now has the support she needs, the company she previously lacked, and a huge variety of social activities to join in with as and when she chooses. Thanks to Rowan Lodge we have the peace of mind knowing that she is excellently cared for.
The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. They care for her needs in an extremely professional and caring way.
It is situated in the most pleasant surroundings, with excellent views from the bedroom window for my mum to enjoy.
I would highly recommend this home to anybody that wants a relative to feel relaxed and be cared for in the way they should.
My dad is 98 and reluctantly I had to accept that we were no longer able to give him the care he needed. Rowan Lodge was recommended to me by a friend who had had personal experience of the care provided. From the moment I stepped through the door, I immediately had the feeling of a bright and cheery environment. The staff were both very friendly to the residents and to each other and whilst we had a tour there were many stops to chat and see both great facilities and the care being carried out. My dad has been at Rowan Lodge since September and all feelings of guilt that I couldn't look after him have disappeared. The attention to his personal care is exemplary and he always looks smart and happy when I see him. I cannot praise the staff at Rowan Lodge enough and they are like an extended family. The grounds are lovely and now we have some good weather dad and I can go out for lovely walks. I am now back to being my dad's daughter and not his carer... I am very thankful.
Due to the death of our Father in July, we had to find a home for our mother very quickly as she has Alzheimer’s and dad was her main carer. We were given the name of Rowan Lodge. What a lovely place mum is so well taken care of by everyone who works no matter their role. There nothing that is too much trouble especially in the strange times we are going through at the moment. There are plenty of activities going on that helps her to enjoy her day-to-day life to the fullest.
The activities and entertainments that have been offered have been inspired. They thought round the problems and have always come up with a fantastic programme, along with the kitchen staff who have also added to the fun.
And the COVID vaccine, as soon as was physically possible. Amazing!
We are kept informed of all the changes and challenges and kept up to date on how things are with my husband. We know they will contact us immediately if there are any changes or difficulties, as they have done throughout. And we have been able to visit almost all of the past year due to their ingenuity at making this possible and safe for all concerned.
It has been a great comfort to know that our loved one is so well looked after by staff who genuinely care.
Mum has lived at Rowan Lodge for nearly 3 years now. We had to make a quick decision at the time, but we have been so grateful that we found them. Mum is well supported, known for the individual she is, and the staff really care about helping her keep in touch with us. Staff are responsive and helpful, and it feels like we are all part of the same “team” caring for mum.
If you are at that difficult decision that you can no longer care for your loved one at home Rowan Lodge will deliver the most amazing standard of care for them. My Mum has Alzheimer's and has been here since 2012 - she is so well looked after and cared for as her needs have become more complex as the years have gone on - I am kept informed of her care and consulted with frequently. My father has also been here for rehabilitation care and the support that they have given him to help him get stronger. The pandemic has obviously made it harder to visit but Dad has been with familiar faces who again stay in touch with me and support us as a family. We have been lucky to have some screened visits but equally, we have access to video calls to help stay in touch. It's a really lovely setting too - Mum has memories in her room of her family and there are activities to stimulate them. The Rowan Lodge team really care for your family and I can't thank them enough.
The last year has been difficult for the whole of the UK due to Covid-19, but we know my mother could not have been in a better place during the pandemic. We were kept up-to-date with everything and remain very impressed with all the precautions they put in place and still have actively in place.
For myself and my brother, liaising with the care staff and the management of the home has been very easy with replies to enquiries being prompt and to the point.
Importantly mum looks relaxed with the staff and surroundings.
All we wanted from a care home for our mother can be summed up in the word 'care', and we believe we found that in ample quantities in Rowan Lodge.
The home itself is in a beautiful setting and the look and feel of it far exceeded all other homes we looked at locally. Although my mum wasn't able to take part in many activities, there was a good selection on offer that seemed to provide an enriching experience.
The only area we felt let down by was Food - sounds lovely but in reality was not very tasty nor nutritious - lots of chicken nuggets, tinned soup and sugary puddings. Also found management somewhat hands-off.
This said I would highly recommend Rowan Lodge.
This was such a lovely evening, starting with Bucks Fizz, lovely nibbles and then a beautiful opera singer. Perfect evening, particularly for the age range. Thank you.
This care home has a wonderful atmosphere as soon as you walk in. Very good and caring staff; and able to uplift people when down. The activities are often, and lots of residents attend, which makes a sense of belonging and friendship. This care home has everything one could want when you have yo leave your loved one in the hands of some else. I do not worry.
The staff do the best they can to provide an environment that is safe and caring for all residents and are successful most of the time.
Through no fault of their own, there are times when things are not as consistent and it can come across that there are not enough staff to provide the top-level care but that is most likely to do with the use of agency staff who then have to learn the needs and wants of each resident.
The core staff that we have got to know show so much love and support to my dad, it means our family can be assured of his safety and happiness.
The staff are fantastic, so accommodating and go the extra mile. The home is always clean, fresh and well looked after. Would happily recommend to anyone.
My Mother has been a resident of Rowan Lodge since around April 2019. I am very happy with the care she is receiving. Most of the staff seem friendly and helpful which makes the feeling of the care home very inviting and pleasant to be in.
Although my mother would rather not be in a nursing home, she recognises that she needs to be for the nursing care she requires. She is in a safe environment where the staff treat her with respect, recognising her as an individual with the mental capacity to make her own decisions.
