Mum has only been in Peaker Park for 4+ weeks, but the staff are great and looked after her very well. Mum's only complaint was the lunchtime cooked food!

Mum was taken to Peaker Park from the hospital. She has broken her arm and had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's for many years. My sister and I had looked after her since our dad's passing 12 years before. We were very nervous about leaving her in someone else's care. Wow, we were relieved and happy. Clipston where Mum was, was amazing, thoughtful staff, capable, adaptable, knowledgable and friendly too. Mum had the very best of care, she blossomed. We couldn't be more grateful to the wonderful team at Clipston under the brilliance of the management of Peaker Park.

My very close friend was admitted to Peaker Park with dementia for respite November 2021 and became a full time resident in May 2022. She instantly settled in which made us realise to our relief that she was in the right place for her. She was joining in activities that she would always refuse to before and gained interaction with different carers that we could not provide at home, we noticed such a difference in her for the better. The staff are fantastic from the ladies on reception who always greet us with a smile and a pleasant chat, they are so helpful, nothing is too much for them. The staff on Gumley Wing are so caring and make our friend feel so much at home. They have a very difficult job but are always respectful and treat her with dignity and keep us well informed about her care and health. I would definitely recommend Peaker Park.

My wife (81) was referred to Peaker Park as an urgent admission (dementia) after very poor care at another home. From the very start, the quality of care, her treatment, the handling of her sometimes very difficult behaviour, was wonderful and quickly produced much calmer and less stressed behaviour. The staff were all a pleasure to deal with and the genuine affection and humour that they displayed to every resident was wonderful. At the end, her final days were treated with love and compassion and made the whole process bearable.

I relinquished the care of my husband in October 2022 when he was discharged, to assess, from hospital. It had been difficult for the health authority to find somewhere that could cater with the complexities of Lewy body dementia.

But Peaker Park was prepared to care for him. Even though the care home was 12 miles away from where I lived it ended up being the best possible move for both of us, he had the best care I could have hoped for and I was able to be a wife again. I am sure that he was as content as he could be, and his end-of-life care was compassionate and caring.

My father was admitted to Peaker Park for palliative care at short notice. From the moment we arrived at Mulroy with Dad we were met at the door and staff made him feel so welcome and comfortable. Staff were wonderful in their understanding, not only of his physical challenges but emotional too. We were also thankful that the funding for Dad care was sorted out by Peaker Park, which was a massive relief not to have to worry about that too. Later Dad transferred to Fiddlers, he was again cared for with upmost respect and dignity and understanding. At a very difficult time for him and us as his family too staff demonstrated care for us all. It’s also such a benefit that nursing staff are on duty 24/7 so no waiting for urgent medication and diagnosis if a problem arises. Care staff are the unsung heroes in life. We witnessed their hard work, amazing, caring and cheerfulness every day for 8 weeks.

My sister was in the Albany Unit for four years until she died there this week. I cannot think any care home could possibly have looked after her with more care, love and thoughtfulness. When he arrived there four years ago, she was worryingly thin and unhappy. Everyone on the unit made her comfortable and encouraged her to eat, and she blossomed in their care. Her last days dying from Alzheimer’s were hard for all her family and for the staff who had looked after her. We were so grateful for their care for her and for us. Peaker Park Care Village is simply the best place she could have lived in.

My dad was a resident here from August through to his sad passing at the end of November. As soon as we arrived for the first of many visits, I knew it was a place where he would be happy and comfortable.
Right from the front door through to the bedrooms and lounges all the staff are wonderful and provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I cannot thank them enough for looking after Dad and also my mum on some of her visits on her own.
We were treated as if we were members of their own family, and in a way we became a part of the Peaker Park family ourselves. I was always kept informed of any problems with Dad and the team looked after me as well by guiding me through something I have never experienced before.

I would like to say a really big thanks to everyone at Peaker Park.

Mum was a permanent resident here for well over 3 years until her sad passing just a few days ago. A number of respite/rehabilitation visits had preceded her fully moving in. The care she received from all the team looking after her was always to a high standard. For me as her son to hear from her, that the staff were “very good to her” and she was “happy here” was of great comfort. Knowing she was safe was a huge burden removed from the family.

We have nothing but praise for the way all at Peaker Park dealt with my mum during her time there and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others needing similar nursing care for their relatives.

My mum was moved to the home at the end of her life. She was only there for a few days but we were really impressed at the friendliness and efficiency of the staff and the way the interact with the residents in the specialist dementia unit. I especially liked the layout and decor and stimulation of the shared spaces. Also, the understanding and helpful way they looked after us admin-wise after her passing.

Mum moved into Peaker Park in February 2018 and remained there until her death in January this year. During that time, she lived in several of the units and in each, she received nothing but kindness and care. In the early days of her stay, she enjoyed trips out, whether to the park, the garden centre or further afield. Later she would sometimes join in activities within her unit, enjoying cooking or a manicure, but if she chose not to be sociable, her choice was always respected. Throughout lockdown, we could always call, even when visits were impossible, and the staff kept us updated on her health and wellbeing. In her final months, as Mum became more frail and confused, all the staff worked tirelessly to keep her comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble, and she was treated with dignity and tenderness to the very end. Their care even extended to us, her family, and it gave us great comfort. I can recommend Peaker Park without reservation.

The staff are absolutely amazing. The care, love and kindness that they showed to my aunt was second to none. I knew she was safe and well cared for - something we all want for our relatives, especially in their final days. I cannot thank the team enough. My aunt was on Albany.

My dad stayed at Peaker Park from May 2022 until December 2022. We weren't sure what to expect, he had severe dementia and we had zero experience of care homes. What we found was that the care he got was outstanding, great facilities but most importantly brilliant staff, all of who genuinely cared for dad and all of us throughout his time there. We stayed in his room during his last days and hours so saw more of the workings of the care home, for example, we ate the same food as the residents and we were also cared for whilst they cared for my dad during his final days. As I say, great facilities but best of all packed full of incredible, caring staff in my experience.

My grandad went to Peaker Park on a temporary basis for an assessment period after a stressful stay in hospital. The care staff here were amazing and made sure that he settled into the home and enjoyed his stay there. He was able to make friends with other residents and have a laugh with carers. The care home is lovely and clean and tidy and has a great garden where residents can spend some time out in the fresh air. There was a lovely homely feel to the place. If it wasn't for the distance from our home, we'd have loved for him to stay here.
