Peaker Park Care Village opened the 2nd June 2011. A newly-built and commissioned care village - 137 beds in all, configured in three separate care facilities. The care village is multi-registered to accept clients with many and varied care needs from the age of eighteen years and upwards, to include clients requireing care because of old age, frailty, and/or dementia, a physical or mental disability and/or a sensory impairment. The care village is registered to deliver care to residential/nursing and Continuing Health Care Clients, and also boasts accommodation for clients who wish to retain independence in their own apartment style of accommodation.

For the 12 weeks my uncle was in this home, as a family, we felt that the staff provided a high standard of care. Even though my uncle was very deaf, they tried hard to communicate with him. He was very comfortable in the last weeks of his life. The home were very flexible around seeing my uncle but
were clearly following covid guidelines.

When sourcing a care home for a very special loved one, you ultimately rely on reviews. After no support from social services and very little information, we were left with relying on the NHS for recommendations. My Mother-in-Law was evicted from a Dementia specialist unit as they could not cope with
her needs. This was a total shock to us as we thought the care home we chose was able to accommodate her, how wrong we were! After several phone calls asking us to come in as they couldn’t cope, we knew something was wrong. We came across Peaker Park and I can honestly say it was the best thing that ever happened. They are the most brilliant team and have a total understanding of a loved one’s needs. They take the time to get to know the real person and listen to the family. All the staff are amazing and have the resident’s needs at heart. The home is spotlessly clean, I cannot fault them. Even though we have now lost our beloved Mum, we know that her care was second to none!

Peaker Park looked after my husband brilliantly. He had underlying health problems and suffered from dementia. The care he received on the Bowden Unite was absolutely excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and I could always call anytime. Due to covid restrictions, we were unable to visit his room
and were limited to visitor's room only.

My dad spent the last few months of his life at Peaker Park Care Village with challenging behaviour due to vascular dementia.
The staff were caring and considerate toward my Dad, especially towards my Mum and our family in these very difficult times, which meant so much. We thank them all.

My sister was moved to Peaker Park from Hospital as she neared the end of her life, she actually was only there for four days but the kindness, care and compassion showed to her was exemplary as was the kindness to her relatives. She was kept clean and comfortable but treated with courtesy despite my
sister having advanced Alzheimer's disease. I have no negative comments to make.

Our Mum spent the last 4 weeks of her life until she passed away last week, in Fiddlers Court, the end of life unit. We can’t thank the management, nursing team and carers enough for the kindness, care and compassion that they gave to her and to us during her time in their care. Everyone made time to
answer our questions and help us navigate through her final days. Mum had wanted to die at home but this was absolutely the best place for her and us. The setting is lovely, calm, safe and homely. En-suite and a fridge in the room ensured we could spend comfortable private time with her and we appreciated the lounge and garden when we needed a breather. Would highly recommend for those with loved ones needing end of life care.

Like everyone, I feared my father going into care, there are so many horror stories. However, I needn't have worried, Peaker Park Care Village were absolutely outstanding. They immediately wanted to get to know Dad so that they could tailor his care. He was treated with care and compassion. They managed
to provide a clean and secure environment, yet warm, friendly and homely. He was treated with the utmost dignity by everyone there. I owe each and every one of them such a debt of gratitude.

I cannot rate Peaker Park highly enough. Not only is it spotlessly clean with modern rooms and ensuite facilities but the environment is calm and caring. My father settled in very quickly and was very happy there. They offer a variety of stimulating activities from making gingerbread houses and bird
feeders to bingo, puzzles and games. During the pandemic, I was constantly kept up to date with photos and news about my dad. When my dad celebrated his 100th birthday, the team arranged a party for his unit and ordered a beautiful cake and decorated the dining room with banners and balloons. The empathy and care the team gave my father in his final days were absolutely amazing and the stories they told me about him made me realise they truly knew him and cared about him.

My mother required nursing care following a brain aneurysm last year, where she was unfortunately left with no mobility or communication. I am so grateful for the excellent and specialist care being provided by the nursing and care team at Peaker Park. In addition to providing for my mother's daily
care needs, they also ensure my mother's preexisting medical conditions are anticipated and monitored, as she can no longer express this herself. Communication with the Care Team Leader has also been exemplary. I am always updated to what actions they are taking to ensure my mother's wellbeing and health. This has not only been actions within the nursing home but also proactively with specialist health providers. It is reassuring to know that my mother is being looked after this well and a blessing that she is happy in her setting.

My mother developed Alzheimer's and like all families, we wanted the best care and found plenty of options. However, we were sold the upside without thinking through the downside. After moving her into one home, her condition deteriorated and she became challenging so we found that, as quick as the
home had welcomed us, they wanted her moved out. It would have been smarter if we had found a home that could scale up to manage her condition through to end of life. Thankfully, we found Peaker Park. The facilities were excellent and the staff were amazing. From the first call and throughout their assessments, they focused on mapping my mother's needs. Throughout her stay, the team took great care to manage her condition and worked well with the local authorities, doctors, and dentists. Covid obviously caused significant disruption, but even as my mother's condition deteriorated they found ways to keep us close.

I am so grateful that both of my parents are safe, well cared for and living in the same care home. My parents both have dementia and were moved to Peaker Park from hospitals in May and July 2020 for their own safety, as living independently was no longer appropriate. The last year has been a most traumatic
time with regards to my parents' health and the pandemic restrictions that have been in place making it nearly impossible for me to support my parents in the way I would have wanted to. The staff that look after my parents have been very understanding, approachable, friendly and helpful and on the few times I have been able to visit, clearly care with compassion and dedication. I have not had the opportunity to look around the home or experience any of the activities but we love seeing photographs on the dedicated Facebook page and try to arrange video calls with support from staff which is very reassuring. My mum always tells us ‘they are wonderful workers’ which says it all. Thank you.

My mother stayed in Mulroy House at Peaker Park for six months from January to July 2020. When she arrived she was very frail and quite poorly, with weight loss and a bowel infection. She was looked after by the nurse in charge and her excellent team of dedicated professionals who cared for her properly
and she transformed during her time there into her old self again, putting back on the weight she had lost and began engaging with the staff and chatting with the other residents. It was like having my old Mum back when she was ready to move back home again. My whole family is very grateful for the skill, care and compassion shown by all of your staff towards my Mum, through what surely must have been the most difficult of times with the coronavirus pandemic lockdown arriving halfway through her stay. You patiently arranged video calls for all my family members with Mum as we could not visit in person during the lockdown. Thank you so much for all you have done.

My dad lived at Peaker Park for four months from January to May 2020.
He had dementia and lived in the secure Bowden unit.
From the moment I arrived with him, we were treated with such kindness and care.
All the staff were friendly and caring.
Initially, Dad displayed challenging behaviour but the
staff were patient and understanding and eventually Dad settled down and was very happy.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Peaker Park.

Our mother was cared for at Peaker Park during the last weeks of her life. She had been in hospital before her admission. From our first engagement with the home, we were impressed. The management, nurses and support staff were all very welcoming and understood how difficult it was for mum to adjust
to being transferred here given her dementia and frailty.
Management and the trained nurses took the time to understand our mum's needs and took decisions which aligned with her and our wishes. The accommodation was clean and kept in good condition and we felt that the staff cared about mum, us and the other residents.
The only observations we would make is that communication between teams occasionally broke down. We understand this happens and to be clear it occurred far less here than it did in hospital or at the previous care home. We want to place on record our sincere gratitude for the care given to my mum which made her last days happy, pain-free and comfortable.

My husband was a resident at Peaker Park due to his physical immobility. At all times he was treated with dignity, kindness and respect and enjoyed the camaraderie of staff and visitors. I always found the staff to be calm and caring. Peaker Park is a friendly place and visitors are always welcome.

I must admit I was apprehensive when I was told I needed a spell of care, that meant leaving my bungalow and moving into one of the apartments available. I needn't have worried, the kindness shown to me by all staff, the care at all times has been excellent.
