My wife is being well cared for by the staff, they are very friendly, and helpful in the way they organise things for her, and for us who are visiting whilst Covid 19 is still with us.
Good food, good cleaning, good accommodation.
Just the best.

I found it hard personally to adapt to institutional life, but that's no reflection on the home. Overall, I felt that the permanent staff were kind, friendly, and loving to residents, some of whom were often distressed. I had concerns though about some of the agency staff who I felt didn't care about
the residents and sometimes shouted and finger-pointed at people. I assume lack of training led to this behaviour. I was aware that sometimes permanent staff felt there were not enough staff on duty, and that if they were feeling unhappy it affected everyone in the room. I think that Covid restrictions must have made a big difference because, without volunteers and visitors on the floor, some residents often said they felt bored and depressed.

The care staff and managers at Lightbowne Hall are all so wonderful, caring and compassionate towards the needs of my mother. They go above and beyond what we expected and all the family are incredibly grateful for the care they show. Everyone always has a smile to greet us even though I know how busy
they all are. I can't thank all the staff enough for what they do for my mum. Many, many thanks.

My dad stayed at Lightbowne for emergency respite care. From the 1st contact with the manager to speaking to the receptionist and carers they were all very friendly, approachable and professional. This put my mind at ease at a very stressful time. They allow 1 face to face visit a week behind a screen
which really helped in these difficult covid times and also video calls. If staff were concerned about my dad they would contact me and always told me how he was. I could see from the video calls and face visits the excellent interaction the carers had with my dad. My dad has Alzheimer's so couldn't tell me much but always commented on the lovely food and lovely staff. Again helping ease my worry. I wouldn't hesitate again booking my dad in for respite or recommending this home.
It is hard to comment on cleanliness, facilities or rooms as due to covid did not see inside.

We are extremely happy with the care that our aunt is receiving at Lightbowne Hall care home in Moston, Manchester. She has been a resident for a number of years and is very happy there. She is always saying that she is well looked after and cared for. Our aunt loves the staff there and can't speak
too highly of them.

It was so hard to see Mum go into a home, albeit initially only for an assessment, as it was something I never ever thought I would do.
The staff are fantastic with Mum and nothing is too much trouble. I phone every day (sometimes twice!) which, seeing how busy they are, could be seen as an unwanted
interruption, but no, they are always so nice and they always know exactly what has been going on with Mum in the day.
Mum had a fall recently which they dealt with professionally but sympathetically. I dread to think what would have happened had she been at home on her own.
Don't get me wrong it's not been easy and there have been tears but I know she is being cared for by some truly wonderful people.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My mum has been at Lightbowne Hall for about 10 months, I can’t fault the help and support that has been provided to both my mum and to us as a family in that time, the staff who look after Mum are always caring and kind, with unlimited patience.
The management and admin staff are always available
to help with any queries or concerns we may have, it’s never easy to have to put a loved one into care, the management and staff at Lightbowne have made a very difficult time easier. I can’t imagine how the staff are dealing with the difficulties brought about by the Covid pandemic, but mum is happy, and the staff always go the extra mile.
Thank you.

Staff are pleasant. The care home is always clean and tidy. my mum is always clean and looked after. I have not seen my mum for 3 months due to the Covid virus, but as far as I know there have been no cases at the home, which says everything about the quality of care and hygiene. I have seen my mum
today for the first time and she was well presented and fine.

Excellent care home. I have ticked excellent for 'activities' although I appreciate in these difficult times activities have been severely curtailed. I must stress that my family appreciate the extra effort made to care for my mother and other residents in these very trying circumstances. We feel that
no more could have been done to provide support.

As with any specialised organisation, especially with care, it is very critical to get the correct way of working. I can justify this with past no so good experiences as staff come and go. But, overall issues have become much much better. The staff does work extremely hard and carry out duties and roles
to the best of their ability.

Although Lightbowne Hall is not the worst care home out there, there is definitely room for improvement. Standard of care depends on who is on duty. Some very good, others lazy. Certain team leaders are not approachable and don't respond quick enough to concerns. Communication between staff and family
very poor. The laundry needs to do better. Clothes always come back rolled in a ball, screwed up and often damp. Activities are near non-existent with no activities coordinator in place. Overall the home could be better led and again the current manager in place doesn't come across as approachable.

My aunt sadly passed away in February 2020. Her passing was not an easy one but I have nothing but praise and gratitude for the way in which the care staff looked after her, they treated her with kindness and humanity and did everything within their power to preserve her dignity in difficult circumstances,
for which I will be forever grateful. Prior to this, my aunt had been a resident for approximately two years, suffering from Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia she was no longer able to look after herself in the community. My aunt was always treated with compassion and kindness . Thank You.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.718)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.718) out of 10 for Lightbowne Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.718 for Lightbowne Hall is calculated as follows: ( (212 Excellents x 5) + (69 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 287 Ratings = 4.718
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lightbowne Hall is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
