Colne View has provided my brother with much needed care, support, stability and love since the death of his wife 10 months ago. All of the team and particularly the carers are kind, sensitive and go out of their way to look after him and care for his every need. As a family, we feel engaged with and
fully involved in the decisions about his care and are so pleased we chose Colne View for his long-term care.

My father was looked after very well at Colne View. He was treated with respect and empathy when the symptoms of his deteriorating health made him angry and frustrated. The staff showed patience and kindness towards him. The food I saw at Colne View was very good. Visitors were made to feel very welcome
and the cafe is a great facility. Staff were always available to discuss any concerns I had regarding my father's health and well-being.

My husband has been a resident at Colne View for two months and I am very pleased with the wonderful care he has received from all the staff. He is very happy and has settled in very well. The facilities and activities provided are extremely good. The food is very good and he enjoys his meals. It is
so reassuring for me to know he is being so well cared for and the staff there also treated me with such kindness. I would be very happy to recommend Colne View.

I can't thank the staff enough for the care and attention they have given my friend from the word go! After trying to settle my friend for over 2 years, 10 care homes later I found Colne View and can't believe I never came here first! What has helped the most is the regular communication from the staff
and the fact they respect me as a visitor too. My friend now has finally settled and the visits are enjoyable. 10/10!

Overall experience is good. My mother is settling in and is well cared for. The main issue is a general lack of staff at weekends and no management. It is a pleasant setting with a friendly ambiance. Occasionally parking is a challenge. It can sometimes be difficult to cope with a certain 'resident'.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Colne ViewThank you for rating your overall experience as good, we are delighted to hear your mother has settled in well and you’re happy with the care at Colne View. Just to reassure you, we always make sure that we have the right numbers of colleagues on hand, both throughout the day as well as the night, seven days a week, to ensure that we always deliver the safe, high quality care that we’re known for. When you visit, you may not always see every team member, especially during the day when there’s lots going on. We are sorry to hear you have occasionally struggled with parking, our colleagues double park to leave room for visitors, but we understand this can happen when we have staff training. We are always reviewing residents' care types to ensure they are in the place that suits them, I believe this has already happened. Please do let us know at any time if you have any questions or comments, we’ll always be here to help.

It was very daunting for our family when we made the decision to find my grandad a care home, but I can safely say I feel happy knowing that he is in the best place possible. It is like a hotel! So many lovely activities going on and lots of different areas for the residents to spend their time. The
staff are always happy to help and are very warm, kind and passionate. I can see they have built up a great relationship with my grandad. I feel it is a safe positive and happy place with all the home-to-home comforts!

My mother has been a resident for a number of years and I have to say in all the time that she has, we have had no complaints whatsoever. The staff are so friendly and nothing is ever too much. They always take 5 minutes out of their busy day to stop and chat. My mum always seems content and never anxious.
And I feel all her needs are met and she's happy and comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the care home to anyone looking for somewhere for their loved ones.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.813)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.813) out of 10 for Colne View is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 42 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.813 for Colne View is calculated as follows: ( (407 Excellents x 5) + (85 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 496 Ratings = 4.813
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Colne View is based on 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 42 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

Since qualifying as a Registered Nurse in 2013, I have completed leadership and management training courses while progressing in my career from Clinical Lead to Senior Nurse to Home Manager.

Becoming a home manager was the proudest moment in my career. After years of frontline experience, it came as a result of hard work, continuous development and a passion for improving standards of care.

I previously worked for Care UK in 2018 as Clinical Lead, and I always appreciated Care UK’s values and the focus on high-quality, person-centred care. When the opportunity came to return to Colne View as Home Manager, it felt like the right time and the right place to take the next step in my leadership journey.

As Home Manager of Colne View, I believe compassion, integrity and the ability to adapt are essential qualities. A good home manager should inspire confidence, be solution-focused and create a culture where everyone feels valued and supported.

My favourite part of each day is walking through the home and connecting with the residents and team. A smile, a short conversation, or just checking in on how someone’s day is going – those little moments make a big difference and keep me grounded in why I do what I do.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, cooking and taking long walks in nature. I also find reading and listening to music very relaxing.

I’m looking forward to working closely with the team to build a positive culture and ensure residents at Colne View receive the best possible care. I’m also excited about building strong relationships with families and the wider community to make Colne View a warm, welcoming, and vibrant home.
