The care my mother has received since moving to Colne View in October 2023 has been astounding.
My mother lives with Dementia and isn't mobile, the staff are kind, caring and extremely supportive of her needs. They are also supportive of me as a relative, always happy to take time with me explaining
what is happening with my mother.
The home overall is warm and welcoming and the food is of top quality.
Best thing we did as a family was to move mother to Colne View when she could no longer live independently.

My mother-in-law has been at Colne View for just over a year. Despite being bedridden and non-verbal, she always looks content. She is always clean, wearing different clothes and appears comfortable. All the staff are friendly to us, keep us updated and treat my mother-in-law with respect. We have peace
of mind knowing she is being so well looked after.

Since mum has been on the first floor, she has improved somewhat. I believe her medication has been adjusted which has helped. She has put on weight and is looking a lot healthier. The staff always seem loving and caring towards mum. There has been an issue with health and safety due to trip hazards
in her room. This appears to have been rectified since I have mentioned it. Mum seems happy and is a lot cleaner now.

Since my sister became a resident at Colne View 18 months ago, my husband and I have been regular visitors. Now twice weekly! We have found all the members of staff to be friendly and helpful with any requests or queries. I am impressed with the variety of activities available. The program often includes
people from the outside community - especially school children. The staff involved are always enthusiastic. Particularly towards the residents. It is good to be able to follow these and the outdoor excursions on the website and social media page. With the bonus of mailing yourself a cup of tea and homemade cake, Colne View has a very homely atmosphere.

One of the most difficult decisions in life is finding a care home for a loved one. This was even more difficult in my wife's case, who suffered a severe stroke which left her paralysed down one side and without speech. From the moment I looked round the home I was put at ease by the friendly welcoming
atmosphere, quality of accommodation and staff. My wife has now been resident for eighteen months and my view is unchanged. Nothing is too much trouble for staff and although my wife is limited to which activities she can join in with these are often brought to her room, such as birds of prey recently. In the past two Christmas events she has fed reindeer and held a live penguin in her lap. Similarly if she does not fancy what is on the menu they always find an alternative for her. I cannot speak too highly of the staff, from management to cleaners. I think it sums up the home when I say that all friends who visit, unprompted mention the welcoming feel of the home and the friendly staff.

It is comforting to know that we have supported you and your family from the beginning and that your view remains unchanged eighteen months on. We will be sure to pass your kind words on to the rest of the team.

I love these people.
My mum has dementia and I was struggling to keep up with her demands to the point that both of our lives were rubbish.
In three weeks, Colne View has turned both my mum's and my and my family's lives around.
Mum is happier, and better cared for, her days are full of activities,
and she is eating well.
I now get to spend time with Mum as her son and not her carer.
Everybody there, front of house and back of house, is amazing.
Thank you all so much.

This is truly a fantastic home from home.
Every single member of staff is so friendly, we are able to call for updates as and when needed.
The rooms are spotlessly clean - we especially like the en-suite toilet and shower.
The menu choices are varied every day and they cater for fussy eaters.
They
have a great café for visitors and residents to use any time of day with complimentary hot drinks and freshly baked cakes.
There’s plenty of activities to take part in twice a day, also dementia choir, host a roast and dancing with dementia starting soon.
There really is nothing around to match it.
Well done to all at Colne View - three members of staff in particular were exceptionally helpful for us, showing us round and settling us in and put our minds at rest in the early days.
We really can’t thank you all enough at such a difficult time.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.813)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.813) out of 10 for Colne View is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 42 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.813 for Colne View is calculated as follows: ( (407 Excellents x 5) + (85 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 496 Ratings = 4.813
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Colne View is based on 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 42 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

Since qualifying as a Registered Nurse in 2013, I have completed leadership and management training courses while progressing in my career from Clinical Lead to Senior Nurse to Home Manager.

Becoming a home manager was the proudest moment in my career. After years of frontline experience, it came as a result of hard work, continuous development and a passion for improving standards of care.

I previously worked for Care UK in 2018 as Clinical Lead, and I always appreciated Care UK’s values and the focus on high-quality, person-centred care. When the opportunity came to return to Colne View as Home Manager, it felt like the right time and the right place to take the next step in my leadership journey.

As Home Manager of Colne View, I believe compassion, integrity and the ability to adapt are essential qualities. A good home manager should inspire confidence, be solution-focused and create a culture where everyone feels valued and supported.

My favourite part of each day is walking through the home and connecting with the residents and team. A smile, a short conversation, or just checking in on how someone’s day is going – those little moments make a big difference and keep me grounded in why I do what I do.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, cooking and taking long walks in nature. I also find reading and listening to music very relaxing.

I’m looking forward to working closely with the team to build a positive culture and ensure residents at Colne View receive the best possible care. I’m also excited about building strong relationships with families and the wider community to make Colne View a warm, welcoming, and vibrant home.
