Excellent care home. Staff are caring and only happy to help everyone. Can't praise the care home enough. My partner went to the home as respite and loved it. Activities, trips out, cinema, lovely room, my partner was very happy with her stay, Can't fault the care at all. Food, everything 10/10. Thanks very much to everyone at Colne View Care Home.

Mum has happily settled into this caring environment. The staff are all very friendly and patient. They show a professional understanding of how to look after someone with increasing dementia. The cafe is a pleasant and safe place to meet and chat and there are plenty of facilities and activities to entertain those residents able to take advantage of all that is offered. We are extremely happy with mums care at Colne View.

My brother was only in the home for a few weeks, he was made comfortable and was well cared for. I was always made welcome, staff were on hand to explain his situation and sympathy was extended when it became necessary.

I had no understanding of care homes until my dad had to get an emergency placement. We chose here as it is close to where I live. I'm so pleased we chose here as they have helped my dad so much. I lost my Mum just before my dad come here, and if he was still at home, we could have lost him too. My dad says they are really good here and they are helping him lots.

I was sent to Colne View for rehab after breaking my leg in January. Although I was apprehensive, I was made so welcome. The room was first class, so comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for the carers.

I am extremely happy with Colne View Care Home and the care my mother-in-law is receiving. The staff are efficient and very caring. They are doing a wonderful job. Although my mother-in-law has some dementia she is happy and settled most of the time. She enjoys the food and remarks about how clean her room is and enjoys the view of the field from her window. I didn't think she'd settle in a home as she was previously very independent. The carers are excellent and deserve paying more! The management are also very good at this care home.

Overall Experience

At first, this care home seemed lovely, with beautiful surroundings and facilities. Unfortunately, the care received and our experience of it was not so lovely. We chose Colne View for my Dad as he suffers from Alzheimer's so his behaviour can be unpredictable and Colne View is advertised as specialising in 'Alzheimer's and challenging behaviour'. From our experience, they didn't seem able or willing to cope with any of his behaviour. We have since moved him to another home without a fancy cinema room and without any other added frills, but the management and staff actually seem to care about the residents rather than just the money. I would never recommend Colne View to anyone with Alzheimer's.

Thank you for taking the time to review Colne View. We are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your dad’s care. Every individual living with dementia has different complex needs and behaviours which are not easy to define, particularly in the context of a pandemic when government restrictions...

After consulting my friends and family, it was decided that I needed some respite care as I had been falling at home a number of times and been unable to get up. Since coming to Colne View, I feel 150% better. At home, I had not been eating well but the food at Colne View has been exceptional, and I now I feel a different person. The staff are amazing, there is always somebody there to lean on and someone ready to give you a hug. I am a smoker and my wish was to continue this whilst at Colne View and the staff have been very accommodating with this. Safety is the highest priority and I can highly recommend this care home. The price isn't exorbitant and if you would like a friendly, kind atmosphere to retreat to, Colne View comes with my highest recommendation.

My mother was a resident at Colne View Care Home for around three months following a major operation. The staff on the first and second floor were very kind and caring and did all they could for my mum under very trying circumstances due to the pandemic which caused staff shortages. My mum did say she felt well cared for and in a safe environment.

Nurses and carers were very caring and attended to Dad whenever we needed them to.
Would be useful for family members to have an induction into the home as initially I was taken to Dad's room by a maintenance man.

Having had no tour or knowledge of the security numbers near the doors it was difficult to get in or out!

Our dad spent just over two weeks at Colne View Care Home. He had very good care during his time here in a lovely room that overlooked the sports ground. Carers were on hand to support Dad at all times.

The home is very animal friendly, so much so that I was able to bring my dog in which was just wonderful.

When I was told my husband could not come home because he needed 24-hour care, I was devastated. I have been caring for him for the past three and a half years. Within 24-hours of him having been admitted to Colne View, I completely change my mind. Without exception, the staff care not only for him but for me and my family. Colne View gave me the chance to be a wife again and not a carer. I am deeply grateful for this, and it made his passing easier to bear. I would like to mention different members of staff, who were exceptional, but every denomination played their part and gave exceptional service. My family and I would like to thank each and every person who helped him during his stay at Colne View.

Mum came to Colne View Care Home from hospital on 17/08/2021 for 24/7 nursing care. She had not been out since February 2020 until going into hospital. Mum was very scared, being away from her home where she would never return. Mum, due to her illness, could not talk. From the moment she arrived at Colne View, the care she received was outstanding and continued until she sadly passed away on 04/10/2021. She was able to see all her family, who were all made welcome when visiting her. I told the staff they were like Mum's guardian angels. Mum often wrote 'I feel safe, everyone is so kind and caring'. On the day Mum passed away all the staff again gave their support and that care and support continued on the last day we collected her items. We will be forever grateful. Thank you all at Colne View.

The care staff were very considerate, cheerful and friendly. They were considerate of my needs and catered for them well. However, because of the Corvid situation, I was isolated in my room for the first seven days (of 21) and realised that the staff were under pressure and could not afford to give me greater time for conversation. The facilities of the home were excellent but it was not possible to make full use of them, again due to the Covid situation.

Meet the Team (1)

Cristina Iacob
Cristina IacobJob Title:Home Manager

Since qualifying as a Registered Nurse in 2013, I have completed leadership and management training courses while progressing in my career from Clinical Lead to Senior Nurse to Home Manager.

Becoming a home manager was the proudest moment in my career. After years of frontline experience, it came as the result of hard work, continuous development and a passion for improving standards of care.

I previously worked for Care UK in 2018 as Clinical Lead, and I always appreciated Care UK’s values and the focus on high-quality, person-centred care. When the opportunity came to return to Colne View as Home Manager, it felt like the right time and the right place to take the next step in my leadership journey.

As Home Manager of Colne View, I believe compassion, integrity and the ability to adapt are essential qualities. A good home manager should inspire confidence, be solution-focused and create a culture where everyone feels valued and supported.

My favourite part of each day is walking through the home and connecting with the residents and team. A smile, a short conversation, or just checking in on how someone’s day is going – those little moments make a big difference and keep me grounded in why I do what I do.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, cooking and taking long walks in nature. I also find reading and listening to music very relaxing.

I’m looking forward to working closely with the team to build a positive culture and ensure residents at Colne View receive the best possible care. I’m also excited about building strong relationships with families and the wider community to make Colne View a warm, welcoming, and vibrant home.
