I stayed at Colne View for a fortnight's respite care. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff and management were so kind and considerate. The food was excellent and I enjoyed the activities. My room was well-appointed as was the en-suite bathroom. I can recommend Colne View.

All staff seem helpful and caring. The place is clean and tidy and does not feel like a normal care home. Even the chef takes pride in his work and meets the guests and families.

Colne view was very welcoming when mum-in-law came in 6 weeks ago with end of life diagnosis, but she's still with us and the home has been very caring. Her treatment has been kind and respectful all the staff have been very sympathetic.

Design of the home in certain aspects not suitable for dementia patients. Colour definition of doors on circulation routes is poor. Circulation within the home is not conducive to good locating for dementia patients and not within accepted design guidance. Staff were very pleasant but I did find my
partner sitting in the corridor half-dressed at 9.30 am. A pleasant atmosphere in the home but very, very expensive.

My two week stay after an abdominal hysterectomy was just what I needed. I received above excellent care. The staff were brilliant, always helpful, kind and considerate allowing me to recover from my operation with the secure knowledge that there was always somebody to support me; preparing my going
home to look after myself as well.
A very friendly, easy, relaxed approach made my stay as pleasant as possible.

My lovely Dad was transferred to Colne View for end of life care. He was cared for beautifully by ALL the staff and it is such a comfort to us following his recent peaceful death. Dad was always comfy and clean, and the compassion shown by the staff was so lovely. This was extended to us as a family
every time we visited and we will be forever grateful.
Thank you so very much.

I have always found the staff very friendly and efficient. They are always attentive to the residents and their families and friends. Our friend, who lives here, always looks cared for an in my opinion, receives very good personal and health care. The facilities are very good and the staff strive to
include everyone. Relatives and friends are made welcome and there are good facilities for visiting.

Dad is well looked after. The staff are very friendly. They treat Dad with dignity. Sometimes at weekends, it can appear short staffed. Laundry works hard, especially as Dad changes his clothes several times a day.

As well as her physical care needs being met competently and professionally, the mental interaction my mother has with the staff at Colne View is of huge benefit to her wellbeing. Everyone, regardless of role, also acknowledges me when I visit; the welcome is genuine.
Nothing is too much trouble there.
A recent medical problem (thankfully spotted early) led to hospital treatment and a change in my mother's needs. This necessitated a change of room and care plan for her to return home, these being organised and implemented within 24 hours - the thought that went into it even included replicating the position of my mother's things in her new room so that it went as smoothly as possible for her.
This plus the routine care and attention provided every day is all about the people involved, and amounts to so much more than them simply 'doing their jobs'.
Residents' wellbeing and resulting relatives' peace of mind have high value, and you find this at Colne View.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.805)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.805) out of 10 for Colne View is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 40 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.805 for Colne View is calculated as follows: ( (384 Excellents x 5) + (84 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 472 Ratings = 4.805
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Colne View is based on 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 40 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

Since qualifying as a Registered Nurse in 2013, I have completed leadership and management training courses while progressing in my career from Clinical Lead to Senior Nurse to Home Manager.

Becoming a home manager was the proudest moment in my career. After years of frontline experience, it came as a result of hard work, continuous development and a passion for improving standards of care.

I previously worked for Care UK in 2018 as Clinical Lead, and I always appreciated Care UK’s values and the focus on high-quality, person-centred care. When the opportunity came to return to Colne View as Home Manager, it felt like the right time and the right place to take the next step in my leadership journey.

As Home Manager of Colne View, I believe compassion, integrity and the ability to adapt are essential qualities. A good home manager should inspire confidence, be solution-focused and create a culture where everyone feels valued and supported.

My favourite part of each day is walking through the home and connecting with the residents and team. A smile, a short conversation, or just checking in on how someone’s day is going – those little moments make a big difference and keep me grounded in why I do what I do.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, cooking and taking long walks in nature. I also find reading and listening to music very relaxing.

I’m looking forward to working closely with the team to build a positive culture and ensure residents at Colne View receive the best possible care. I’m also excited about building strong relationships with families and the wider community to make Colne View a warm, welcoming, and vibrant home.
