First impression was not good (you never get a second chance to make a first impression) as management seemed unaware of my aunt's impending assessment and admission. It turned out that it was their first day in post. Too often staff say something will be done, but don't carry it through, often trivial things like bringing a cup of tea, but they all add up. It took ages to get the TV functioning properly and then only after an email to HQ. No reception on weekends leading to frustrated visitors. Easy to get the door code by observing staff - the keypad needs a cover.

I am fed up with the lack of cups and mugs at certain times of the day. Surely there should be sufficient for a constant turnover of residents and visitors.

Also, have complained to senior carer about the way my mother's bed is "made" or rather not made when agency carers in.

My mother's needs are well met at Colne View. I know she is safe and despite her challenging behaviour, is always respectfully cared for. Staff keep me informed at all times. However, it would be helpful to have a key member of staff for email contact to keep updated re: non-medical issues like clothes and toiletries.

My mother has been a resident at Colne View for just on a year. During that time I haven't had cause to worry about her care - unlike the previous home.

There seems to be sufficient staff who are all very friendly and look after my mother well.

I am reassured to know that my mother is being well cared for.

My dad moved in at the end of April as he could no longer look after himself at home. He has settled in well and likes living there. Their food is good but maybe too much for people who are not very active.

He would prefer more activities outside the home, but I know this is difficult to arrange. His room is a good size and well furnished. Finally, the staff who look after him are lovely, they are very friendly and take great care of him.

I cannot praise the staff at Colne View highly enough. My husband was in Colne View for 15 months prior to his death last year and the professional support and loving care, which very often went beyond what I expected given to both my husband and myself, was amazing, especially when his health was failing. I cannot thank you all enough.

Meet the Team (1)

Cristina Iacob
Cristina IacobJob Title:Home Manager

Since qualifying as a Registered Nurse in 2013, I have completed leadership and management training courses while progressing in my career from Clinical Lead to Senior Nurse to Home Manager.

Becoming a home manager was the proudest moment in my career. After years of frontline experience, it came as the result of hard work, continuous development and a passion for improving standards of care.

I previously worked for Care UK in 2018 as Clinical Lead, and I always appreciated Care UK’s values and the focus on high-quality, person-centred care. When the opportunity came to return to Colne View as Home Manager, it felt like the right time and the right place to take the next step in my leadership journey.

As Home Manager of Colne View, I believe compassion, integrity and the ability to adapt are essential qualities. A good home manager should inspire confidence, be solution-focused and create a culture where everyone feels valued and supported.

My favourite part of each day is walking through the home and connecting with the residents and team. A smile, a short conversation, or just checking in on how someone’s day is going – those little moments make a big difference and keep me grounded in why I do what I do.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, cooking and taking long walks in nature. I also find reading and listening to music very relaxing.

I’m looking forward to working closely with the team to build a positive culture and ensure residents at Colne View receive the best possible care. I’m also excited about building strong relationships with families and the wider community to make Colne View a warm, welcoming, and vibrant home.
