My wife who is a resident at the home says the home is very good. The activity are very good. As she is a very plane eater, the kitchen always has an alternative for her! (This is only when the menu does not suit her eating).
Reply from Kim Richardson, Reviews Team at Colne ViewThank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. It truly means a great deal to us.
We're delighted to hear that your wife feels the home is very good and that she is enjoying the activities on offer. Keeping our residents engaged, happy, and stimulated is so important to us.
We're also pleased that our kitchen team have been able to accommodate her preferences. We completely understand that everyone has different tastes, and it's important to us that each resident enjoys their meals. Providing alternatives when needed is just one of the ways we try to ensure everyone feels comfortable and well cared for.
Thank you again for your kind words and continued support.

Mum has now been at Colne View for just over 6 months. She was previously in a home in the adjoining town, and we did not have a very good experience.
However, what a contrast. I seriously can not fault Colne View in any area. Mum truly feels at home. The food, staff and activities are first class.
Rooms are ensuite, and the whole of the premises is spotlessly clean.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Colne View to anyone.
Having looked at many homes, and our previous experience, there is no other place I would want mum to be.
Thank you to you all.
Reply from Kim Richardson, Reviews Team at Colne ViewThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and positive review. We are delighted to hear that your mum has settled so well at Colne View and that she truly feels at home with us.
We understand how difficult it can be to make the decision to move a loved one into care, particularly after a previous experience that was not as positive. It means a great deal to us that you have seen such a contrast and that you feel confident and reassured by the care, environment and support we provide.
Your kind words about our team, food, activities and the cleanliness of the home will be shared with everyone – they will be incredibly proud to know the difference they are making. Thank you for trusting us with your mum’s care and for your recommendation; it really does mean a lot to us.

Always taking the best care of my Nan, her mood and general wellbeing has really improved since her moving in which I think is a mixture of factors but largely how kind the staff are and how comfortable she is there

My mother lived at Colne View for 18 months. Sadly she passed away last week at the age of 96. It took her a while to settle in as she was a very independent woman, but the staff picked up on how best to handle her and she ended up being very happy there.

The care she received was exemplary and all

the staff were extremely kind and caring.

Thanks for looking after so well, it gave me huge peace of mind.

My 94 year old mother moved into Colne View in August following a fall at home . We are so impressed with every aspect of the home. The bedrooms are beautifully furnished and are very spacious. There are several lovely lounge areas where we are able to sit with mum for a chat and also a fabulous coffee
shop. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and tidy . It really is home from home. We cannot praise the staff highly enough , everyone is so friendly and caring , nothing is too much trouble and mum has settled in very well. We would highly recommend Colne View, who have welcomed us all as a family. They have made the move for mum an extremely easy and pleasant experience. Well done to all at Colne View !

Absolutely love the home. The staff are so caring, friendly and very helpful, always ready to help out. Their training speaks volumes about their approach and how they deal with some very testing situations. I'm so glad that we moved my mum to this residential home as I can see a massive difference
in her wellbeing.
Big thanks to everyone who have helped and supported my mum so far.

My mum moved to Colne View when the effects of dementia stopped her living independently. She lived here happily for 11 years until she passed away 2 weeks ago. The staff are always very welcoming, kind and helpful and the care, love and respect my Mum was treated with over those years was excellent.

I visited my dear friend for the first time since she took up residence last month. Many reviews on here have praised the home and I would agree completely. I enjoyed the visit and very much looking forward to the next when I can take my little dog in to sit with my friend whilst we listen to the radio.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My sister was admitted to Colne View two days after being discharged from an area hospital in a very frail, fragile and unhappy state. She required dedicated nursing care and I was unable to provide that at home. It was a crisis situation for us.
Colne View responded quickly to my urgent request;
they provided a wheel chair, arranged a suitable taxi, and admitted her immediately. I was extremely grateful. They provided excellent care for what were to be - sadly - the last few days of my sister's life. She was finally pain free, her nausea controlled, and she was comfortable and at peace. She was tired and sleepy but demonstrably herself, even cracking a few gentle jokes with my son and I who were with her in that last day.
I shall be eternally grateful to the dedicated staff who nursed her those last few days, and the administrative staff who made admission very straightforward, and to everyone who provided thoughtful and caring support to my sister and also to my family. Thank you.
Reply from Kim Richardson, Reviews Team at Colne Viewthank you so much for your heartfelt and moving words. We are truly sorry for the loss of your sister, and our thoughts remain with you and your family during this difficult time. It means a great deal to all of us at Colne View to know that we were able to provide the care, comfort, and support your sister needed in her final days. We understand how difficult and distressing it must have been for you to be in such a crisis situation, and we're grateful we could be there to help ease that burden and ensure your sister was cared for with dignity, compassion, and peace. Your kind recognition of both our care and administrative teams will be shared with them it will mean a lot to know their efforts made a difference during such an important moment in your family's life. Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.813)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.813) out of 10 for Colne View is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 42 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.813 for Colne View is calculated as follows: ( (407 Excellents x 5) + (85 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 496 Ratings = 4.813
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Colne View is based on 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 42 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

Since qualifying as a Registered Nurse in 2013, I have completed leadership and management training courses while progressing in my career from Clinical Lead to Senior Nurse to Home Manager.

Becoming a home manager was the proudest moment in my career. After years of frontline experience, it came as a result of hard work, continuous development and a passion for improving standards of care.

I previously worked for Care UK in 2018 as Clinical Lead, and I always appreciated Care UK’s values and the focus on high-quality, person-centred care. When the opportunity came to return to Colne View as Home Manager, it felt like the right time and the right place to take the next step in my leadership journey.

As Home Manager of Colne View, I believe compassion, integrity and the ability to adapt are essential qualities. A good home manager should inspire confidence, be solution-focused and create a culture where everyone feels valued and supported.

My favourite part of each day is walking through the home and connecting with the residents and team. A smile, a short conversation, or just checking in on how someone’s day is going – those little moments make a big difference and keep me grounded in why I do what I do.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, cooking and taking long walks in nature. I also find reading and listening to music very relaxing.

I’m looking forward to working closely with the team to build a positive culture and ensure residents at Colne View receive the best possible care. I’m also excited about building strong relationships with families and the wider community to make Colne View a warm, welcoming, and vibrant home.
