The care home was immaculate, welcoming and beautifully decorated. My aunt was comfortable, happy and had received the best of care, medical and social. She liked her room, the staff and the food and was entertained by the social programme.

I would like to thank all the staff at Hanford Court Stoke on Trent.
In particular, those staff on the Doulton floor for the care given to my dad in the past 3 years.

They have given excellent care beyond expectations and also the kindness and resources shown to us in the last few weeks of care. Congratulations to the deputy manager on her promotion top manager, well deserved.

My brother must be one of the most challenging residents that Avery have ever had to deal with because of his age and complex needs, but in the six years that he has been with you, all I have witnessed is that he ahs been treated with dignity, compassion and a level of care that I cannot envisage anyone else being able to deliver.

To be able to go to bed at night knowing he is safe and secure is something I will be eternally grateful for.

When we were looking for a respite bed for my 92-year-old mother on her discharge from hospital we visited some truly dreadful places. We were lucky to find Hanford court which is always clean, smells nice and is staffed by a whole team of kind and friendly people. The food is always good. Mum has a nice big room with her own en-suite facilities and is kept warm, clean and comfortable. Staff even take residents for the occasional pub lunch and hairdressers come regularly. What's not to like?

From the moment of arriving staff were helpful and pleasant. The care home is always clean and refreshments for visitors are always stocked. The activities for the residents are great especially the dancing. The price of the care home is rather expensive, however, you know that your family member is well looked after with fantastic amenities ground them.

I cannot say enough about 'Hanford Court Care Home'. Everyone, from the carers, administration staff, catering staff and the recreation and leisure team are fantastic. Management of the home is excellent. My mother has settled in very well these last 12 months and her whole dementia has changed for the better. she is her 'old' self - I have my mum back. I don't know what we would do without 'Hanford Court Care Home'.

My husband is treated with respect and love. A nominated carer spends one to one time with him and he is always clean and tidy. The accommodation is always spotless and smells fresh. Visitors are made to feel welcome and there are areas to socialise and spent time together, such as a coffee lounge, garden and plenty of entertainment is arranged if wanted.

I have been visiting my friend at Hanford Court regularly in the two years she has been a resident, she has been cared for with dignity and respect by all members of staff, who have come to know her individual needs, her likes and dislikes. Staff communicate with me (her deputy) in a timely and relevant manner and I am reassured that she is in a safe and caring environment.

During the last several years I have visited a number of care homes to see friends and relatives. My experience tells me The Avery is second to none. The fact that it is purpose built of course makes all the difference. The staff are very friendly and always have a smile. For the residents there is always some form of entertainment also outings to interesting places for those who are able to take part.

Gemma Boot
Gemma BootJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2012

Hello, my name is Gemma, and I am delighted to be the Home Manager here at Hanford Court.

Having the privilege to work here for the past 9 years, Hanford Court has truly become a second home for me.

With 17 years’ experience in the healthcare sector my previous roles have included, Carer/Senior Carer, Team Leader, Trainer, and Deputy Manager. I have also achieved qualifications such as NVQ Level 5, Social Care, and a Diploma in Sociology, where I have gained the skills and knowledge to succeed in my role today.

Within this time, I have shared many treasured moments with the residents I have had the pleasure to meet.

Seeing my residents smile each day gives me the motivation to perform at the highest level. One proud moment that I will cherish throughout my career was when I was able to fulfil one of my residents’ dreams of riding in a helicopter. It was so special just to see how happy they were.

I would best describe myself as very sociable. We have multiple cosy lounge areas throughout our home where you will often find me having a cuppa and a natter with one of our residents. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking and watching football.

Avery Healthcare, owners of Hanford Court, best stands out for their award-winning standards of care. And our home is no different. My favourite aspect of Hanford Court would be its beautiful, landscaped gardens which residents can enjoy all year round, whether that be planting crops to later be used by our talented culinary team or just simply soaking up the sun on a summer’s day. We have also recently installed our visiting pod which facilitates safe visiting for our residents and their loved ones.

I look forward to welcoming you to the Hanford Court care community.
