Review from Helen (Wife of Resident) published on 6 November 2020 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My husband spent the last six months of his life at Rushyfields. He was registered blind, had dementia and some nursing needs. He had been in three other homes and this one was by far the best. It is the staff who make a home. As his wife, I was able to visit my husband and take him out at any time of day. Staff were pleasant and helpful, always cheerful and listened to what I had to say, and took it on board. The nursing staff were excellent and were well prepared with medication in advance. They made my husband's death as comfortable and peaceful as possible, and for this, I am very grateful.

Since my wife entered the care home on the 1st of July, I have seen a marked improvement in her physical wellbeing. The staff keep us informed all the time of how she is, even if it's only a scratch on her arm. I find she is well looked after in a caring way.

Kind, thoughtful and caring staff. Improvements happening all the time from outside sitting patio to planters and the planting of border summer plants. The home does try really hard to make residents feel settled and happy.

Fully behind all of the staff, they are all helpful, extremely caring, knowing everyone's names. Cannot fault anyone, they are great, from the manager to the cleaning staff. We all think they should be given a medal for all the work they have been doing.

Overall Experience

My mum has been a resident at Rushyfields since Sept 2019 and I have been extremely happy with the care she has received. The staff have managed remarkably well during the recent difficult circumstances and have kept me up to date with how my mum is through phone calls and newsletters, along with entertaining FaceTime calls with my mum. Although I couldn’t be there for her recent birthday they entertained her with games and a cake. Whilst it was a very difficult decision moving my mum into a nursing home, Rushyfields have made it a smooth transition for both my mum and the rest of the family. My mum is very well cared for, offered lovely meals and snacks and seems very content in her new surroundings.

I have known my friend for over 14-years, and her family lived all over the UK.
She was always treated with respect and dignity - she was a proud lady.
The home kept me informed at all times, and of all of her needs.
I was the first port of call for her, and the home worked really well with our situation.

Sadly she passed away last week, but big respect to the staff

My mother-in-law has a number of medical and mental health issues. She is also prone to chest infections. The staff at Rushyfields manager her condition well, they know when to give her space and to encourage her to socialise to the best of her ability. I found that during March, she seemed to have more 'down days' than 'up days', again the staff kept a very close eye on her and did their utmost to lift her spirits.I also know that she is fond of the staff, some who have worked there since the day she moved in.

Review from Lynn S (Daughter of Resident) published on 20 May 2019 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
Always short staffed. Have mentioned this on several occasions. Not enough entertainment or to give them a look out on the minibus which stands dormant. Residents need fresh air, not enough staff.
Food used to be better, not as good since menu change.
Staff are mostly good, have had problems in the past, with some staff members.

Dad was given the wrong medication.

Reply from Fae Doherty, Marketing Officer at Rushyfields Residential and Nursing Home

Dear Lynn, thank you for your feedback and compliments about our staff. I am very sorry to hear that you are disappointed with certain aspects of the care we provide, and after speaking with you, I now have a wider understanding of this. I will again feedback to Susan, and do hope we can resolve this together. Many thanks and best wishes, Fae.

Review from L B (Daughter of Resident) published on 21 March 2019 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Dad was initially in residential care from January 2018 until June 2018. Although we were happy with his care, he wanted to come home and live with his family. He stayed with his daughter and grandson (main carer) for four months but his mental health deteriorated and he was re-admitted in October 2018 and moved to the nursing floor in January 2019. He has now been assessed for 1:1 care. The support staff are extremely patient as he can be very demanding. The care home has been a life line for the family. We visit daily, noticing the friendly, jovial nature of staff, general atmosphere and environment. Thank you.
