Pennine Lodge Care Home

All members of staff regardless of post are friendly, courteous, helpful and caring. They appear very dedicated & go the little bit extra for my relative's care and comfort. The rooms we use are ALWAYS airy, comfortable, clean & attractive. On a scale 1 - 10 - more than 10

There have been quite a few changes taken place over this year. New Manager, Chefs moving on and maintenance staff retiring. I agree with others around communication challenges at times but the new social media page has been helpful from knowing what's going on actively wise. As with any care home there are challenges with staff retention. Recently though I feel things are more consistent during the day ( obviously I don't know about night shift) and by reading my mums file see a key worker system has been introduced. There will always be individual situations for families and times when we feel more could be done but staff are much more regularly checking in with me as mums key carer to make sure if I have any concerns I know I can raise them. There are some staff who go above and beyond. They keep the bar high which is important to promote and maintain standards. Meals are varied and from what I observed today of a good standard.

While there are some caring individuals, overall standards need significant improvement.

My husband received excellent care at Pennine Lodge. I describe the experience as: "From arrival through to his death, the staff cocooned us with care, dignity and support." I would not have wanted to be anywhere else when we were faced with end-of-life.

My mother is constantly in her room. She barely enjoys communal areas/activities. She has had falls over the last several months, resulting in hospital visits. On one of these visits, the attending doctor was so concerned about her levels of dehydration he suggested I inform social services. Which I did. I have again contacted them again regarding her latest hospital admission (hydration again). This is unacceptable due to her being on assisted fluids and food. How on earth does she become dehydrated.

We would definitely recommend Pennine Lodge to everyone.

The staff work tirelessly to try and do their best for each and every person. Is it always perfect? No, but they always listen to any concerns and try to sort them out. The regular staff treat my grandmother as if she is their family member and always try to do whatever they can to make her stay as pleasurable as possible.

I would like to this opportunity to apologise for everything n hopefully it's positive from now until the future, I can explain my actions we're made from stress energy at work n meant no ill feeling towards anyone!

Our experience of Pennine Lodge Care Home is very good. The staff are very caring and compassionate. My father has been in this home for over three years and the care he has received has been excellent.

Over the 8 years of living in the home, I have found the overall experience to be good. Most staff are friendly and chatty, the care I have received has always been satisfactory and my dignity needs are always met.

It's only ever been a friendly experience, very kind people. I'm happy with my mother living here. It's always a warm welcome. I feel part of the homes community and get on very well with everyone in the care home.

After a few teething problems my grandma has settled in well. Most of the staff are great and interactive and you can tell they care. I do think the activities are great and keep my grandma involved. The food is always of a high standard and her room is always kept clean and tidy.

My Mum went to live in Pennine Lodge, Harraby, Carlisle at the beginning of August after 2 months of being in hospital. My sister and I viewed Pennine Lodge prior to my Mum moving in and felt very comfortable and at ease that our Mum would be cared for there. My Mum received the best care and nothing was too much trouble. Sadly Mum passed away this week, but their care and attention were amazing from start to finish.

Lovely care home, we've been very happy with the care both our parents have received. Staff are great, very pleasant.

My wife receives excellent and considerate care at Pennine Lodge. All the staff are unfailingly polite and caring towards my wife. She now requires nursing care which has not led to any reduction in her level of care. When my wife came to Pennine Lodge in July 2024 we were both apprehensive but we soon realised that she could not be anywhere better.

Sadly, Dad was only with us for 6 more days when he moved into Pennine Lodge, but in those 6 days, he was much more peaceful than in the hospital. The staff were so caring and respectful towards Dad and us, they made his last days just that little bit more bearable. Thank you.

Great care home. The staff are lovely and keep me informed at all times as I don’t live locally. Dad is happy there and is well looked after. I would definitely recommend this care home to anyone looking to put a relative in a home.
