Overall Experience
My mother was transferred to Pennine Lodge from another nursing home which was closed by the Care Quality Commission. She had spent 12 years there and was very worried about the change.
The staff at Pennine Lodge did their utmost to make her feel welcome. The clinical lead assessed my mother and instigated some changes that improved her pain control and consequently her quality of life.
They ordered her a specialist chair which enabled her to sit out of bed more comfortably.
The standard of care she received was very good. It is impossible to single out a carer for a ROCK (Recognition of Care and Kindness) award. I would like to nominate 8 or 9.
Sadly my mother died this week. Her end of life care was well managed and I felt well supported throughout.

I cannot thank the staff at Pennine Lodge enough for what they have done for us.

From the first day my sister came into the home she has been very well looked after. As well as doing their jobs, the carers have been very friendly and have done their best to make my sister comfortable and at ease. They have also been very kind and understanding to family members.

Overall Experience
The atmosphere in Pennine Lodge is friendly and homely - nice. Every member of staff, kitchen, carers or medical team were exceptional showing interest and loving care for my dad. It was nice to see how they interacted with him.
Medical care was planned and carried out to our requirements by primarily by the clinical lead and care home assistant practitioner with full support from other nurses and care staff.
The level of care and support could not have been better, and always in a caring and thoughtful way, nothing was any trouble. My dad was always kind to them too.
My dad's last day was as I would wish, full care and attention to provide a pain and anxiety free lowering of awareness. The family were also offered full support with refreshments and communication of what was being done for dad.

The people here are amazing.

Our experience of coming in to Pennine Lodge has only been very positive. We have been coming to the home for nearly two years now. She has certainly gained with the move for her last home placement to this one. The staff are an incredible improvement on the last one. We were made quite aware that some of the problems mam had previously were down to the way things were dealt with. She is certainly far more comfortable and happier here in Carlisle. We thank the staff for her continuing care and compassion.

Overall Experience

My mams care is good, some carers are very committed, give tlc and compassion. On mams admission to Pennine Lodge we were assured this was a person centred service, with this I struggle, I conveyed mam generally continent with timing, I was told mam would be toileted regularly and before each meal, this clearly does not happen!! Mam is now wearing 2 pads, why, as I choose to do mams laundry why do I find on occasions mams nightie, but particularly her trousers and if wearing knickers, soaking wet!! if toileting before each meal, as a family we try to support staff as mam eats very slowly and have a family rota to be at the home at meal times to feed mam. He bladder is full, staff are serving and feeding other residents, could we enjoy a meal when bursting for the loo!! Care very good, management very good but I am my mams advocate!! Food inconsistent good or poor!!

My Mum, being very poorly and nearing end of life has had better care and love shown then I could imagine. The team are amazing and show so much compassion, love, care. They see that I eat and take care of us both. Well done upstairs staff - Pennine Lodge.
