I enjoy living here. I enjoy having a laugh with the staff as they have made me feel part of the homes community. I have a nice garden view room and it is kept nice and clean. I really appreciate all the people who look after me.

The care my mother received whilst in Penine Lodge was above and beyond brilliant. The carers cared for her like she was family, and for that, we will be forever grateful. Whenever we visited, we were made to feel so welcome and at ease and never under pressure around visiting times.

My mother was in the Pennine Lodge Care Home Carlisle Nursing Home for three weeks and then died in May as expected. The management could not have been more professional.

In the last week 20th September, 2023 we managed to get my mother-in-law a place in the nursing side. My husband and I transferred her from Edinburgh. She had been in a week and all the staff popped into her room to say hello. There are activities every day of the week for her even on weekends. All the staff are like angels!

As most people know they have relatives and loved ones that need 24-hour care and a care home is the only option finding the right one can be very challenging and upsetting. I visited many care homes to try and find the right one and was extremely alarmed at some of the standards in some of them I viewed. However, when I entered Pennine Lodge, I got a friendly welcome from the manager and she showed me around personally and the room that my dad was looking to stay. This was a difficult decision that was made easier knowing he would be well looked after and within a care home that I felt was homely and then was offered a lovely light and bright room overlooking the garden. As I work full time, it is wonderful to be able to go in and out without any difficulty and to have the flexibility during the day for visiting. I would recommend this care home to anyone in my situation who is looking for a care home with a caring friendly and committed staff to their residence.

Went to visit my mother on the 8th of February 2023 at 14:00, and stood at the door for 15 minutes waiting to be let in. No one came, I had to go as I couldn't wait any longer as I was going to work.

Both my parents have been residents in Pennine Lodge for over two years. They pay full residential costs. Food has always been an issue for them and still has not met their expectations. They receive good care from staff. Activities are offered and my parents take them up occasionally. There is only a limited option for my father and he doesn't partake. Their care is appreciated particularly during the covid pandemic and they have been safe and protected.

You always get a friendly welcome, whoever answers the door. It's the same throughout the building. It is very clean and residents always seem happy wandering or doing activities of which there is plenty of variety for anyone who wishes to partake. I would definitely recommend Pennine Lodge Care Home.

My mum has been a resident since March 2021. She was very reluctant to go into residential care, but she soon settled in. It was difficult because we could not visit, but the family were kept informed of her health and we were able to talk to her on the telephone. The staff are so caring and helpful, Mum thinks they are great. She even calls one of them her boss, her mental and physical state has improved so much since being a resident there and she now sees it as her home and she loves it. The family cannot thank the staff enough for what they are doing for Mum and the other residents it is a big weight off our minds. Well done to all.

The care Mum has received over the 8+ years she has been a resident is second to none! Everyone in the home from administration to the carers are approachable and always put Mum first.

I recommended the home and my father-in-law is now also a resident.

Since being in care for just over a year my husband's needs have changed considerably. I have been kept informed throughout. Staff have adapted really well to new needs and they have made my husband as comfortable as possible. There is a lovely friendly atmosphere and the staff are always courteous and happy to talk about any concerns/queries. My husband seems comfortable and always smiles when staff are around. Activities have been made fun and inclusive - including lovely trips out in the mini-bus during the summer. During a very difficult time, the home has adapted to allow better visiting in the home and also to support families in taking residents out.

My husband has had to move onto a specialised diet and the standard of the food has surprised me in terms of variety and also presentation. Staff have also helped make his room personal by putting up our special pictures and allowing our dog to come and visit. A lovely caring home at a very difficult time.

My mum is on a section 117. I’m lucky that Pennine Lodge is just a 10-minute drive from where I live, although I would travel a lot further to make sure my mum was looked after! I am always kept updated with what my mum has been doing and am allowed to visit and take her out whenever I want (health and regulations permitting). The activity girls make sure the residents are kept active and sociable if they want to. They take them out for trips too. Mum hugs and kisses everyone there and thinks of them as her friends. I am very happy with her care.

My father-in-law has been in care for over 7 years now. Pennine Lodge and their lovely team have taken such good care of him and it’s clear to see they love him nearly as much as we do.
He is downstairs now as he is frail, they have done well throughout the pandemic and have kept him safe and our safe visits have been welcomed.

He is always clean and tidy and the team are just lovely. Well done all of you.

Mum was treated with utmost care and respect. Great patience when she spoke Greek. Pandemic made communication hard but the staff did their best on video call. Senior carers and everyone were great. An example is the hug Mum gave to a staff member on the last day of her life, Well done Pennine Lodge Care Home. The ethos is spot on.

My mother transferred from Leeds to Pennine Lodge Care Home in October 2015. She has been encouraged to socialise and participate in a wide range of activities since moving in. Staff managed to facilitate almost uninterrupted visiting through Covid (except Dec - March) without alarming residents and simultaneously protecting staff, residents and families. Despite grumbles from some about the limited times and frequency of visits, I personally felt the home continued on a 'situation normal' basis with lots of activities and events and many of the residents were blessedly oblivious to the Covid virus. Staff initiated pamper sessions - hair cuts, nails etc were tackled by staff as external hairdresser was not allowed in the home. Video messaging substituted for in person visits, enabling long-distance relatives to have frequent access to family. Social media group provides daily updates with well-illustrated examples of outings and events. Staff are dedicated, treating residents like family.

My mam has been a resident for the last few months, and although I've only seen her once during this horrendous time, I have seen a big difference in her from her last home. She is so much happier and looked after and back to her old self. Although I don't know the staff I totally respect them for their care and commitment. They really are doing a fantastic job. FaceTime and updates are helping us through this difficult time and knowing my mam is in a good environment and being well looked after is a big help and I love seeing the photos of the activities they do throughout the day.

The care, support and encouragement my dad has received has been amazing. Prior to the pandemic, this was good but I feel that it has been outstanding!

They have provided ongoing support and updates to us and kept us in the picture with regular communication.
