The home is a very friendly and warm place, and every staff member I have met has been outstanding. They all go that extra mile, with a smile, and the atmosphere is that of a private home. Everything is running very smoothly, and everybody always has time for a chat. The facilities are excellent, and I have used the Cafe quite a lot - it is a lovely place to have a quick coffee. I have not experienced any restrictions on visiting times, and the staff are always very accommodating. It is a place I would choose for myself, should I need round the clock care in the future. Well done everybody!

Only frustrating point is the number of alarms which go off during my visits. The staff are highly caring and always take a personal approach.

They have worked miracles she has regained her health as well as her social self. All with kindness and friendliness. They just seem to know how to support the residents to make the best they can for themselves.

Mill View is the most wonderful place on earth for older people who cannot survive living alone in their own homes!

Mum hated everything about being in a care home at first, and I was the most evil child to have moved her out of her hometown, to live closer to where I live. The staff supported my unhappy mum, and my tearful self during those tough first weeks - they were so great.

Mum is now so happy. She joins in all the daily activities (the activities great) and is so busy, she has admitted to me that she is busier in Mill View than when she lived in her own warden assisted flat (she went out most days to meet people so that she could talk to them), and thanked me for moving her in!

She looks very well, so much better than she was when she moved in. She is having 3 good meals a day, medicine on time, and people checking up on her so that she is not a constant worry to the rest of the family. She has people to talk to and has made friends with the other residents.

Mill View provides excellent care to my father who has been there since May this year. He is treated with great care and dignity by all the staff who go above and beyond their brief to ensure that he feels respected, motivated and safe. Mill View encourages visitors to participate in the excellent activities run by the dedicated activity coordinators and this contributes to a happy and lively family atmosphere.

My mother has been with Mill View for over two years now. She has vascular dementia which has had a slow deterioration, affecting her abilities to cope with managing the simplest of things.

Her mood swings vary from day to day leaving an uncertainty of what to expect each day in her outlook on things.

The nurses manage this with a great deal of patience, sometimes having to put up with an anger created by frustration and other times a very agreeable person.

The home provides a range of entertainment that keeps most patients occupied with a weekly visit of a hairdresser to give an uplift in their well being.

Clearly living at home would now be extremely difficult, Mill View provide the alternative option with support and care.

My mother has been a resident of Mill View since Feb 2015. During her time there she has been very well looked after and encouraged to join in the activities.
We always receive a phone call once a month to review mum's care plan when she is resident of the day.
We are also notified with any issues arising re mum's care or health concerns.
The staff are very helpful and caring.

We are pleased with mum's care, safety and well being at Mill View.

Overall very happy. Have noticed lately that some agency staff are sometimes less understanding of the needs of the residents.

Reply from Amy Wilson, AD at Mill View

Thank you for taking the time to feedback to us and I am pleased that you are happy with your overall experience. My mother enjoyed her respite time at Mill View. The staff were clearly committed and dedicated to the care of the residents and treated both residents and visitors with sensitivity and empathy as well as cheerfulness. Mum very much enjoyed the facilities that Mill View had to offer in terms of activities and interaction with both staff and other residents.

It seems that my husband was treated very well. It would have been nice had they been able to encourage him to shower more and change clothes more. But, overall, excellent.

My wife spent 2 weeks in respite at Mill View and from the onset was made very welcome. From the customer services to the care staff themselves they all appeared dedicated to making life as much like home as possible. The bedroom was spacious and kept clean. I can only say good things about the home and would always recommend it.

My father recently had a respite care stay of two weeks in Mill View. He is quite hard to please but seemed quite comfortable at Mill View and even joined in with some of the activities. He was pleased to be able to have a hot meal in the evening as this is his preferred time to eat. The staff were friendly and helpful and we particularly like the layout of Mill View, Dad liked the 'coffee shop' and access to extra drinks at night. Overall very good.

Trish Banks
Trish BanksJob Title:Home Manager

I am a dual-qualified and registered adult and children’s nurse with 40 years of experience. I spent 25 years in the NHS in a variety of roles, from Registered General Nurse to Paediatric Ward Manager. I left the NHS in 2007 after completing a Level 5 Leadership and Management course in order to manage a care home.

Being a Home Manager carries huge responsibilities. You have to be a good communicator and have a passion for caring for others. However busy it gets, I take the time to walk around the home and speak with residents, relatives and colleagues. It always reminds me of what differences we're making in people’s lives. My team is amazing, and I look forward to working with them every day.

When I’m not at work, I love spending time with my husband and two rescue dogs who we adore. When I can, I also like to travel up north to see my children and grandson. But most days you’ll find me pottering in the garden or curled up with a good book.
