I visited my friend many times between last summer until April 2016. I found the home to be welcoming, clean and very well equipped and the staff are very friendly caring and helpful and working with the patients over and beyond the call of duty.

The carers and the care are excellent but more staff are needed, staff work very hard and are very kind, activities are very poor residents are bored. Overall the care is excellent, carers great, would I stop there myself?

The care is very good and the carers are excellent but they are run off their feet at certain times of the day. There could be more staff. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. We have put "satisfactory" for the activities as we feel there could be more things to do. Also communication of activities
could be better as my mother has sometimes missed activities because we haven't been told about them. Overall we are very pleased with her care. The above are small points and we would recommend the care home.

This is the second review that I have placed for this Carehome, simply because my previous review was for when a 97 year old man was resident there, but he sadly has now passed away. My reason for now writing this review, is to say that the staff here, from the Management to the Auxilaries are some
of the most caring and professional that I have ever come across.
My wife and I were kept fully informed of his condition health wise, and right to the very end, his carers kept him immaculate, even down to applying aftershave once he had been shaved. His room was kept very clean and always had a delightful smell to it, so unlike many other carehomes.
Staff at Bowbridge Court were simply superb, and I am very aware that some of them stayed beyond their allocated work time, just to see that he was comfortable and in no pain.
This is a Carehome that is managed and run by those who really care for their residents, and my sincere thanks go to all of them.

I have been a full time carer for my mother for five years. Sadly her care needs became too great for me to manage at home. It was not easy for me to give the responsibility for her care to others. However, I believe mum and I to be fortunate, she is now a resident at Bowbridge Court, Newark.
I have
every confidence that the staff and management at Bowbridge Court, care for my mother to a high standard and I would not hesitate to recommend to others.

My mother who was visiting from Germany, sought an emergency admission into Bowbridge Court after a far from satisfactory two nights in the first care home we'd arranged for her to stay in. One lady was incredibly helpful and bent over backwards to accommodate her. Bowbridge Court admitted my mum that
same evening and the staff were friendly, attentive and extremely welcoming. My mum felt secure and relaxed after her previous bad experience and thoroughly enjoyed her stay with them. She will come again! :)

The staff accommodated me at a moments notice and were exceptionally welcoming and friendly. They have also made my family and friends very welcome and it has been possible for them to have drink and food with me which we really appropriate. I had one unfortunate incident around my medication but I
was very impressed by the way it was sorted out.

I have been extremely impressed with the exceptionally friendly, welcoming and accommodating staff. The facilities are also good and it is a pleasant environment that also accommodates visitors very well. The staff respond very warmly to everyone caring and interested. Nothing has been too much trouble
for them and despite a misunderstanding regarding medication which was sorted out very satisfactorily, it has been a very positive experience. We are also very grateful for providing respite care at a moments notice following what was initially intended to be a visit!

Very pleasant atmosphere, staff welcoming. Everywhere clean and fresh, nice seating areas where residents can chat to visitors comfortably. It is also great that residents can offer visitors a cup of tea. I remember my aunt being upset that she couldn't do this in her care home(not this one!) some years
ago. Little things like this mean a lot and contribute to it feeling more like your own home.

My mother has been a resident of Bowbridge Court for 2 and a half years. As a GP, I visit nursing and care homes on a regular basis - and therefore know what "good" looks like and also what poor is.
Bowbridge Court has been excellent and very supportive to us as a family during the difficult times
we have had. It has been a great relief to the family to know that she has been well looked after and we could not have been made more welcome at any time. We are likely nearing the end of our association with Bowbridge Court I take this opportunity to thank everyone for their care and consideration.

Staff are excellent, they genuinely care about the residents, not just because it's their job. Always welcoming and kind. This is the kind of attitude towards my nan that money cannot buy. Real genuine kindness. Bowbridge is always clean and the food is good. Good service, good place. Couldn't recommend
it higher. Very thankful for everything they have done for my nan.

My mother has been in Bowbridge Court since August 2013, following a stroke and the onset of dementia. I have always found the care workers to be very affectionate, loving and caring, especially now when my mum has an end of life care plan in place. Whenever we have had concerns we have been listened
to. It has not been an easy time for us, but at least we have known that mum is safe and well cared for. Staff have also been very supportive of the family.

I have always felt welcome at Bowbridge Court and found staff caring and busy. The lounge is welcoming and the rooms are very comfortable. The food for main meals and tea looks appetising. Residents are encouraged to come out of their room and interact but obviously not all want to do this but are kept
an eye on.
I have only been when two group activities have been taking place but they seem to be well supported and enjoyed.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.749)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.749) out of 10 for Bowbridge Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 30 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.749 for Bowbridge Court is calculated as follows: ( (273 Excellents x 5) + (74 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 354 Ratings = 4.749
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bowbridge Court is based on 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8, which has been reached with 30 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
