My mum has been in The Mayfields Care Home for 6 months now and I am extremely happy with her care. The home and staff provide a very welcoming atmosphere and my mum has settled in extremely well. There is a great variety of activities and entertainment going on regularly and I think the daily newsletter
is a great idea. The food is of extremely high quality and the cleanliness of the home is excellent. I now have peace of mind 24/7.

My partner's mother received excellent care from all the staff she regarded staff as friends. They really engaged with her and made her last months as happy as possible, ensured she enjoyed her last birthday and gave her an early Christmas and gave outstanding support during her last days of palliative
care as well as support for her daughter. It is not just your job, it is how you do it and you do it very, very well. ALL OF YOU.

My mother received excellent care whilst living at The Mayfields Care Home for the period of 17 months. All the staff were wonderful and caring to her. She reached the end of her life with dignity and compassion.
All the staff were amazing, caring for all her family at a difficult time. As a retired
hospice nurse, I feel that she received that same quality of care as that given at the hospice. Following her death my husband and I were shown the same qualities of compassion, empathy and understanding as given to my mother.
Reply from Garry Gardiner, Director of Operations at The Mayfields Care HomeThank you for your kind words. At The Mayfields we are passionate that our residents receive an outstanding quality of life with empathy and compassion. This goes out to the family as well. With love to you and your family.

The service at the Mayfields continues to improve.
It would be easy to single out a staff member here or there but what makes it work is that they are a team. A very, very caring and dedicated team. My mum can't speak for herself but I know she feels safe and happy at the Mayfields and I thank everyone
for that.
The food is cooked on the premises and is fresh, varied and nourishing.

We came to visit Mayfields in April when the world seemed very bleak and at last, we were surrounded by people who promised to be able to give our dear Mum the care she needed. Three months on and we are delighted with the care and support we and our Mum have received. She is happy and content and we
are secure in the knowledge that she is understood - the world is no longer bleak.

We have had both my husband's parents in the care system and the homes they were in were good but came nowhere near the care and attention my mother receives.

There is a pervading atmosphere of kindness. Generally speaking, Mayfields does a challenging job well.
Management should be more pro-active and better informed about such as CHF procedures.

Mayfields has been helpful in the evaluation of my mother prior to admission.
On admission she was made to feel very welcome, pictures were put on the wall quickly, an extra rail was put in the toilet area.
Staff are approachable and provide information as needed.

We were recommended 'Mayfields' by a friend who had past experience of it as her mother had stayed there for respite.
We were very impressed by the high standard of the care home. The reception area was a lovely start to our visit and we continued to be impressed as we had a tour of the building. The
staff are all lovely and very caring and ensure my mother's needs are met.

Overall it has been excellent, just what mum needed to get her back on her feet so that she is now able to go home. The kindness and care from all the staff was 1st class. The only concern was not having 1 English carer on at night, this did worry mum and she could not always understand what they said.
Only 1 meal not really suitable for old people was chicken drumsticks because of bones.
Cleanliness could be improved on dining chairs and tables noticed food on them just before meals.

Very well organised, caring, helpful, attentive and trustworthy. Mum had a nasty experience in a previous care home and was untrusting, scared and reluctant to eat or let anyone touch her. Since being in The Mayfields she has flourished, put on weight, happy and trusting of staff. It has restored our
faith in the care system and raised the quality of life for mum.

Since moving mother from a care home without a Dementia bias, her physical and mental facilities have improved enormously. I.E from a selfish viewpoint is to see mother in matching clothing, yes a silly thing but mother was always proud of her appearance, even though she may not be aware.
I now do
not worry about her safety. The staff I have met in the last two weeks have been 'on the ball' regarding care and have been very professional.

The staff at The Mayfields Care Home could not be more kind and helpful. We visit fairly regularly (twice a week) - staff are always thoughtful and all seem to know my father and what he likes to do, drink and eat. The activities are varied as most clients are women. They are sometimes a little too
geared towards women but lots of effort is made to encourage everybody.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.910)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.910) out of 10 for The Mayfields Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.985 for The Mayfields Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (200 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 203 Ratings = 4.985
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Mayfields Care Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
