The Mayfields Care Home

Mum is in the dementia unit at Mayfields. We have had several incidents with mum lately, due to her dementia and wandering nature. The most recent resulted in an hospital visit due to her falling in her bedroom. The staff at Mayfields were amazing we can't fault the way they dealt with the situation, they were all in, before her trip to hospital and her return. Mum loves living there, is incredibly happy and was thrilled to be returning, and receiving the wonderful welcome home.

Couldn't have had any better care or friendships - if I could have tried.

The home is so friendly and all the staff are absolutely fantastic. Everyone is so caring to my mother who has Parkinson's. All other residents have made my mother very welcome and there are activities nearly every day for residents. I would recommend this home to anyone thinking of placing their loved ones in a home for ongoing care.

My mum has been resident at The Mayfields for nearly 3 years now and we have found it to be a very caring place. It is very clean; the food is great; we are always made to feel welcome and there is a great programme of activities, plus the garden and courtyard are always lovely in the summer. I visit very often, and at different time of the day and I always observe on high standard of care.

The Mayfield has a wonderful caring homely ethos. The staff are welcoming, kind and always say hello. The residents have a range of activities planned each month. Rooms are always clean. My mother has received great care, nothing is too much trouble. I couldn't be happier with the care she is receiving. Thank you for all your hard work.

Our close friend has recently become a resident at The Mayfields. The care he has received from all staff, including management, has been exemplary. Staff listened to his story and our thoughts and have gone over and beyond to make sure he is happy, settled and has a voice in his care. We are absolutely delighted. An amazing residential care home. Thank you.

I have nothing but praise for The Mayfields. My wife, who has early onset Alzheimer's, is well cared for and looked after. I feel that I made an excellent choice. Everybody from the domestic staff to the manager are so friendly and welcoming and do their best to make my visits as comfortable as possible and the staff always make time to speak to me and update me on my wife's condition and developments generally. The care staff in the dementia unit are all very compassionate and caring. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them and they take everything in their stride. They are obviously dedicated and excellent with residents. In the 4 months I have been visiting I have seen little or no turnover of staff which is reassuring to me and particularly the residents. There are some agency staff at times which is understandable but they are also very good. The ambiance of the home is good and I am concentrating in this review on the care aspect as that is most important to me and my wife.

I have been visiting Mayfields for 16 months. The staff are very caring. My friend on top floor has been looked after well, any concerns have been dealt with immediately. She seems happy and that is what matters most.

During visits and the reports received by other family members the care home is very well run. The residents are well cared for and seeing a family member settled there was very reassuring.

I have been a visitor to 3 residents from 2019 to date. Each time someone needs care I always highly recommend Mayfields as I have always been impressed by the facilities which are more like a high-class hotel than a care home. As you walk in the door the staff are friendly and welcoming. The caring staff and catering are top-class. The coffee area is great as if your loved ones is able you can take them there for a drink together. As someone who hopefully has some time before I'd need this facility for myself, I would be pleased to think I could go somewhere like Mayfield.

We had no hesitation in bringing our Aunt to Mayfield as I have been informed with the care home from 2019 when a dear friend was transferred from hospital for palliative care. Since then I have recommended many people whom I continue to visit. The welcome from the start of the stay for patients whether permanent or short stay is wonderful from all members of the staff. The atmosphere is so warm and friendly and a wonderful place for all who are involved with the 'home'. I have worked in care homes in my lifetime and this one is the top by far, for care for people in need. Super food from the kitchen and all who work in this wonderful home.

I have been a visitor at Mayfields since 2020 when I accompanied a friend visiting a friend. The place is so warm, friendly atmosphere when you first enter, this runs right through the home with the wonderful staff and their caring attitude towards all the residents. The food always looks nourishing which is what the residents need. I cannot thank all members of staff for their continuing care in this wonderful care home.

My dad has spent a year at The Mayfields and he really appreciates the environment. The modern building provides excellent facilities and all of the staff do everything they can to look after everyone brilliantly, from the outstanding food to the tireless work of the activities coordinator. I live locally so visit frequently and at all different times, which means I have witnessed the excellent care provided over an extended period rather than a 'snapshot' and I can vouch that the excellence of this care home and it's first-rate staff is not just skin deep.

One must be prepared for a new way of life. There is always someone to talk to and activities to get involved in but areas where there is the chance to sit and have solitude if required.

Lovely visit! Offered token for refreshments on arrival. Staff helpful and efficient when asked for some help with resident/family member. Good atmosphere.

My husband spent 9 days at The Mayfields in the dementia unit. It was his second experience of respite care, the first being in a care facility which did not work out. Due to this experience, I was skeptical about how it would be at The Mayfields. To my surprise he settled really well, had a good time and was content. The staff are caring and work hard to engage with the residents. I'm so pleased with the care he received and would definitely recommend.

My mum has been a resident at The Mayfields since November 2021 and has received excellent care. The staff are compassionate, professional and supportive. The management is always there to sort out requests. My mum really enjoys living at The Mayfields and has made so many friends, she always says the food is lovely. I would recommend The Mayfields to anyone looking for very good care for their loved ones.
