Generally speaking, this care home is of a very high standard as with most things there are a few teething problems. Since I have come straight from the hospital to have convalescence, at this moment most important is an extremely uncomfortable bed, since my condition forces me to lie on my back and not be able to turn in any direction the mattress needs to be a good one, this one is old and hard. Unfortunately in the matter of food, I guess they must be working to a very tight budget, it's adequate perhaps for a generally fit person, but not suitable for someone who needs better quality fish, meat and veg.

My mother came for two weeks of respite care, we extended this for another two weeks and made it full-time. Mum is cared for and her dementia condition is understood. We are very happy with Haven, the team leaders and the manager/admin. The building is well maintained and we know Mum is safe! Thank you!

I have answered this before and I still find Haven a delightful and caring home. The carers should have cotton uniforms for the summer - only a suggestion and thinking of them. They are a fantastic team.

We have been extremely pleased with the Haven and have nothing but praise for everyone. We find that the loving-kindness of the staff to our mother and other residents is outstanding and we are so glad she is a resident here. We would gladly recommend the home to anyone.

It has been a very difficult year and a bit with Covid restrictions, the staff have done all they could to make sure we could still contact our loved ones with window visits, pod visits, phone calls, video calls and now able to come in with PPE in rooms. My dear friend is poorly now and on palliative care but everyone has made it easy for me to see her and she is always very clean and tidy and well cared for. Thank you to everyone and much appreciation.

The care that mum receives is absolutely outstanding at this time of the coronavirus pandemic all the staff have gone above and beyond the care provided ensuring that all residents and staff are kept in a safe and secure environment. We know that normal visiting will be re-instated as soon as it is completely safe to do so. This home really is a haven and I would like to offer my congratulations to everyone. Well done.

My mother was a resident of Haven for a few years. She received excellent care and I genuinely feel that the staff went above and beyond in their care of her. They treated her with warmth, affection, compassion and dignity. The atmosphere of the home is warm and friendly. Management, do all they can to ensure that residents and their families are happy. I was informed whenever there was an issue with my mother, and the staff dealt with everything so efficiently that there wasn't much pressure on me at all. My mother passed away during the lockdown and I was allowed to come and sit with her whenever I wanted to. Obviously, we all followed current guidelines and Haven were very careful to ensure that I was in protective gear for the safety of all. Everything possible was done to ensure my mother's comfort, and not only did she pass away peacefully, but some of the wonderful staff were with her, holding her hand. I thank them all enormously.

My mother was well 'looked after' at The Haven for over four years. It's a purpose built care home. Mum's room had wheelchair access to it and the en-suite wet room. She spent most of her time in the spacious lounge/diner, giving us space to interact on my visits. With a good working environment the management are able to employ the best available staff.

I thought Dad would stay at Haven forever, and so did he. However, that was not going to be the case. He fell over at our house on Christmas Day breaking his right thigh bone and unfortunately has moved to a Sanctuary nursing Home nearby. The Haven staff were exceptional. Everyone was simply fabulous, so supportive and friendly.
I have said this time and time again and have genuinely meant it. Haven had been Dad’s home for eighteen months and everyone has been so helpful and supportive towards someone who has not, at times, been the same in return. However, he appreciates everything that had been done for him, has loved everyone and is extremely upset that he cannot return.
Thanks millions for everything done for Dad and our family.

There is a temptation to mention people by name but I am afraid to leave anyone out. So, bless each and every one of Haven’s exceptional staff. They will all be forever on our minds. Bless you all.

My mother has been a resident at the Haven Residential Care home for nearly two years. We are so pleased that we made this choice for her. The staff are unfailingly patient, kind, professional and go over and above the usual expectations of carers in this sort of role. If ever there has been a medical issue with my mother, they ring immediately and we have a discussion and a GP is called if necessary. Communication is excellent and we have regular reviews regarding my mother's care plan and her changing needs. (She has advanced dementia). I cannot fault the Haven and feel it is a comfortable, secure, happy place where my mother is treated with kindness and her dignity is respected.

My father was a resident at Haven since August 2018. The care and attention he received from all the staff were absolutely wonderful. They loved him as if he was their own father and my mother and I could not have wished him to be in a better place. He died this week and when my father was unable to do anything for himself the staff were so patient, caring and professional with him and us his family. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE.

Review from Philip C (Brother of Resident) published on 24 January 2019 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
For the past two years, my brother has been living in The Haven. During that time he has received excellent care, warmth, empathy and compassion from all the staff.
One day I took him out in my car where he was sick. The manager of the home donned a plastic apron and insisted on cleaning it himself.

Just before the end two members of staff were crying at his bedside and hugged me to give me support. They, plus another member of staff, were very professional in supporting and helping my Brother. However, all the staff are great. Five people from the home came to my brother's funeral, some of whom came on their day off. Is was, to say the least, greatly appreciated.

Despite some residents having challenging symptoms, both management and staff show compassion and try their best to develop relationships with all; and are patient and understanding.
There are a number of organised activities which all are encouraged to join in.

Good quality food is provided at meal times with sufficient variety in the menu to meet most needs.

Reanne SextonJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2024

My career in adult social care began in 2011, fresh out of school, as a kitchen assistant in a local care home. I progressed to a chef, where I found joy in engaging with residents, so much so I transitioned into a care role.

That decision changed everything. I found my calling and steadily progressed through senior care positions, eventually becoming a care manager in 2024 at the same organisation where I started.

I'm thrilled to join Sanctuary Care as a Home Manager, an opportunity that aligns perfectly with my passion for quality care and values. I'm excited to continue growing and making a meaningful difference alongside our dedicated team.

At Haven, we are committed to enriching the lives of our residents every single day. I'm proud to continue creating a homely environment where residents feel safe, valued and respected.
