I was looking for respite care for my elderly mum whilst we were on holiday. Mum had gone through a period of illness leading up to her stay so it was very important to choose a home that would not only look after mum but boost her confidence.
I cannot speak highly enough for the wonderful care and support given to my mother. She is much stronger and more self-assured after her stay.

Thank you to all the staff.

Being in the position of having to make the decision that your mother needs to go into a care home is awful. Having visited many homes and becoming more and more depressed and unsure, I then walked into the Haven care home and immediately felt that 'this is right!'. I was welcomed by the manager and he took me around the home where, for the first time, I was openly encouraged to talk to the residents and their families and ask anything! The carers are brilliant, patient and understanding, taking time to get to know the individual and their funny little ways. They keep you well informed. Mum is able to have some happy times in a safe, caring environment.

My mother spent two weeks for respite. Management and staff were friendly and helpful. Facilities good. Staff were very respectful of my mother wanting to be left alone and not join in or have any contact with the other residents.

I had a lot of difficulties finding a home that met the needs of my mother. This home was recommended to me. On calling, I got an interview immediately. It was exactly what I was looking for. It was also in an area where it was easy to drive to and get parking and also transportation to the home was convenient. The premises are well kept and clean, the manager and all the staff are caring, polite and interact with all the residents. They also get to know all those who come to visit the residents and make time for you and any concerns you have, they'll address it.

The Haven has treated my father with care and dignity throughout his four and a half years here. They looked after him beautifully as he deteriorated in health and passed away peacefully. They supported us as family and shared our grief. We could not have wished for more.

My mother was only in Haven Residential Care Home for some 3-4 months before she passed away but they were probably the best days for her since my dad died 4 years ago. She was very well looked after by caring and professional staff and although she was very shy by nature, they helped encourage her to take part in activities and interact with other residents and despite her medium level Alzheimer's, she responded to this and it helped her overall level of contentment there.

I found the manager to be extremely efficient and helpful at all times and he created a very friendly and happy atmosphere which showed on all the staff. My husband was very happy and even with his anxiety attacks, he was beginning to settle down.

(My mum was in there for 3 years until she died in August 2016). The Haven is a nice home in a quiet residential street. The home is modern, with excellent facilities and light, pleasant en-suite rooms. Food is also good. The staff are individually nice and caring. A number of activities are arranged, but staff are not very proactive in persuading residents with mild dementia to join in. For a relative, communications are difficult - I never felt that a message to one staff member reached others, and in 3 years I never understood who was a team leader or a designated carer. Overall, a good home, but I never felt the management realised that it was charging a lot and relatives were entitled to expect it to be excellent.

Thank you for your review. As you mentioned we have lots of activities going on which are tailored to what our residents enjoy doing and while we do encourage all of our residents to take part, sometimes it is their choice not to and we have to respect that. With regards to our team we have...

My mother arrived here straight from hospital and was overwhelmed by the friendly welcome. She has been here just over a month and has settled in really well. The room is lovely with a good double wardrobe which means most of her clothes fit in! The staff are friendly and caring. There are also enough of them to go round and cater to all the residents needs. I have been impressed by the whole home and would recommend it to friends with parents in a similar position to my mum.

My mum was taken as a resident at Haven four weeks ago. All I asked of them was that my mum should be allowed to die in peace, treated with respect and if at all possible in no pain a matter between myself and her G.P. In my short experience of Haven, it is mostly a happy, peaceful place, with very caring staff who really get involved and seem to understand each residents needs. I eat there on Sunday's and the food is of a high standard. I cannot speak more highly of Haven and if they are still there when I have the need I would be happy to move there.

My mother is very happy here and it's a relief to her family to know she is well cared for. She sometimes complains that the carers are too busy to answer any requests she may have.

Personally, I think the garden could be so much nicer, with more colourful flowers and plants. And I strongly object to the presence of a residents dog, who is small enough to become a safety hazard to unstable/partially sighted residents, (and who poos on the grass)!

Thank you for your review and for recommending our home with such positive ratings. Our gardens are currently having a complete makeover, which involves replacing the soil and planting new flowers and plants. Our residents have been involved in this process and we are all really looking forward to...

My father moved into Haven, Hatch End in June 2015. As a family we found Haven to be a happy, friendly environment. Unfortunately there was a short period of time when Dad did not have his donepezil dose at the home due to the prescription being missed but this has been resolved. The new Manager has been very effective, working closely with the staff, residents and family members to improve working practices within the home and this is definitely noticeable to all who visit the home. We as a family are very confident in the Manager's ability to manage the home at a very high level.

I have lived here for 3 years and have been made to feel very welcome and comfortable. My ground floor room has its own wet room and a door into the very pleasant large garden. The food is acceptable mostly. Since there are many people in various stages of dementia, congenial company is hard to find. The original manageress tried hard to overcome this problem but until our present manager came things were difficult.

My career in adult social care began in 2011, fresh out of school, as a kitchen assistant in a local care home. I progressed to a chef, where I found joy in engaging with residents, so much so I transitioned into a care role.

That decision changed everything. I found my calling and steadily progressed through senior care positions, eventually becoming a care manager in 2024 at the same organisation where I started.

I'm thrilled to join Sanctuary Care as a Home Manager, an opportunity that aligns perfectly with my passion for quality care and values. I'm excited to continue growing and making a meaningful difference alongside our dedicated team.

At Haven, we are committed to enriching the lives of our residents every single day. I'm proud to continue creating a homely environment where residents feel safe, valued and respected.
