Overall Experience
My mum went into Mugdock Care Home on the 2 July and whilst being absolutely sure it was the correct solution for my mum l was anxious as to how she would settle in. We visited the home and met with senior staff to discuss my mum's care and were very impressed with all aspects of the service. We followed the advice we were given on how we would leave my mum on the first day and visiting arrangements thereafter which allowed the staff to settle my mum into her new home.
To say that we are pleased with the service my mum is receiving would be an understatement. The staff have been amazing and very quickly learned to understand my mums likes and dislikes. The staff always take time to talk with us when we visit which is testament to the staff resident ratio and the staff 's professionalism.

My mum has settled in well , she takes part in many activities, has been out on a number of trips already. She is more settled and lost the anxiety she previously suffered from and put on weight.

Any time I visited my aunt in the care home I was always greeted with a friendly face and welcoming conversation. I have found the atmosphere to be very relaxing. The staff are very attentive towards my aunt and seemed to take the time to have a conversation with her, nothing was ever an issue and they appeared to really care and know my aunt which made me feel at ease.

The home and her own room were always clean and tidy and importantly for me it didn't have that care home smell. The aroma of cooking was also something that was enticing.

I would like to thank all the amazing staff at Mugdock House Care Home for the kindness and loving care my Mother recieved over the past two years. She enjoyed her friendly chats with the Admin staff, cleaning ladies and caretakers. The Activity Coordinators were marvelous, ensuring interesting activities and social events were always available. The kindness and compassionate care my mum recieved from the wonderful Care Assistants and Nurses gave me the absolute confidence that my mother was very well looked after as her dementia progressed.

My mother lived in Mugdock House for over 5 years. The staff turned her around. They gave her care, humanity, love and their professionalism was second to none. Each and every staff member helped her daily and she found a new lease of life in these years.

I cannot praise them high enough. Each of the team went above and beyond and cared for her beautifully at end of life.

On arrival I found the reception staff to be very welcoming and helpful. The home itself was spotlessly clean and is obviously very well maintained. Nursing/care staff were lovely, very approachable and happy to answer any questions we had.

Exceptional and Compassionate Staff work as a team and very professional, kindness, and attentive nature, noting they treat residents with dignity and respect.
The care home offers a vibrant program of activities, including daily exercise classes, music, arts and crafts, an in-house cinema, and regular bus trips and outings. My mother is always encouraged to participate and the activities team are outstanding.
The management team are approachable and the clear, consistent communication regarding our loved ones well-being.
Mugdock Care home is a modern, clean, and well-appointed home with excellent facilities, including a secure landscaped garden and private dining options. Which we as a family are grateful for.

Overall I would highly recommend the Mugdock Care Home to anyone looking for care.

The front of house staff are welcoming and knowledgeable. The care staff are exceptional with my mum, responding and understanding her particular/personal needs. The activities coordinators bring joy and laughter to residents daily. The staff who clean, cook and maintain Mugdock House have the same 'can-do' attitude to any request. The nursing staff are A*1 - kind, knowledgeable and proactive in their care of mum. Very happy daughter. Thank you staff.

I looked at numerous care homes before selecting Mugdock House Care Home. I could not be more pleased with my selection. Mugdock gave mum a new lease on life. She loved the staff, the activities and even the food and mum was a very fussy eater. Her room was lovely and very comfortable but her favourite place to be was in the lounge with lots of company. Mum was riding a rickshaw in the Botanic Gardens laughing and eating ice cream just weeks before she died. What a perfect life she had at Mugdock.

My mum moved into Mugdock House in August 2024 and was very warmly welcomed by management and staff at all levels. She had a lovely garden room which was very well maintained and spotlessly clean, as were all areas of the home. Staff made time to get to know her and she regularly commented on how nice everyone was, taking time for chats and a laugh. She was encouraged to participate in all activities by the wellbeing team and especially enjoyed her 100th birthday party in October! I was a regular visitor and was always made to feel welcome. Staff had a very good understanding of working with elderly people with dementia and there was always a friendly, caring ethos throughout the home.

Sadly my mum passed away in January, the end of life care she received was excellent and I greatly appreciated the kind support from staff. I was concerned I would always regret having to move my mum into a care home, however I needn't have worried, Mugdock House proved to be a perfect choice.

My mother-in-law has been a resident of Mugdock House for almost four years and her care has always been outstanding. Recently there has been even more opportunities for outings and this has been appreciated. She is always looking her best when we visit and the staff generally catch me before I get to her room to update me about her current wellbeing and mood.

The leaders, care givers and all staff should be proud of the difference that they make on a daily basis. Very personable, approachable and kind. Always well informed about my mother-in-law when we call as well. Many thanks.

I have found all the staff very professional, kind, friendly, calm and patient with all residents, but more especially when dealing with challenging residents. The staff at reception always welcome me by name and a smile and are happy to chat whilst we are signing in and out. My uncle always enjoys the visitors from Harris, a friendly small dog who visits residents from time to time.
