We visited the home for my Aunt's 100th birthday celebration.
We received a very warm, friendly welcome at your Reception desk. This continued in the party room. It was a lovely afternoon with delicious food worthy of a 5* hotel. On the way out we saw a happy group of residents being entertained
by a staff member.
We can see why Grovelands is rated 'Outstanding '.

My mother has been living at the home for 18 months and the family are delighted with the care and attention she receives. I attend one or twice a week at different times and my mother always looks clean and tidy, often with her hair washed and set by the resident hairdresser. In addition, the staff
paint her nails which is lovely.
Something I have noticed is that the continuity of the staff working in the home. Always friendly faces and ready to support.
The residents are taken out on outings and are offered lots of activates during the day. The food is also of a high standard. The bistro bar is a lovely space to sit and have a coffee or drink when visiting and family and friends can order food too.
The staff planned a lovely party for for mother's birthday and all the family attended. The catering and drinks were all provided and the staff on duty were amazing.
Reply from Caroline Cheeseman, Manager at Groveland Park Care HomeThank you for your lovely review. Knowing that you are happy with the care your mother receives means so much to us. We are committed to providing not only outstanding care in our luxury home, but also ensuring that all the features and services included in our all-inclusive offering are delivered to the highest standard. Creating special moments for families to visit, spend time together, and celebrate important occasions is at the heart of what we do.

Our first visit to Groveland Park, Bexleyheath. Travelled from Canada to visit our mum/mum in law, aged 102 years. we were so reassured and extremely impressed by the facilities. All of the staff were amazing and cannot comment too highly on the food which we shared with g. on a few occasions. Fine
dining for her birthday was top notch and our compliments to the chef/chefs.
From the moment we walked in were greeted warmly and appropriately. The staff are fantastic and we left her Sunday, October 19th, knowing she was in the best possible hands.
They are to be commended.
George and Mary.

I have never been into a care home like this before! I was most impressed! The respect from the staff to the residents was admirable. Anne in the laundry was so patient with my friend, who was trying to find lost items. The Bistro was luxurious and Maur could not do enough to help! Caroline was so cheerful
and welcoming. Book me in!

I visit my friend in Groveland Park Care Home once every 1-2 weeks. I find that the care that my friend gets is very good, and his needs are well managed. The staff are both polite and friendly to both my friend and myself (a visitor). I often stay for a meal with my friend and always find the food
well cooked and hot.
The only downside is that when my friend is in pain and asks for paracetamol, it is often a long time coming because the person who dispenses medicines is on another floor.
Reply from Caroline Cheeseman, Manager at Groveland Park Care HomeThank you for your review and the comments that you made. I will speak to your friend regarding the pain relief and ensure him that there are other trained members of staff in the home that can assist with a request if one person is busy at that time, ensure that all staff are seeking assistance when requested. Thank you for sharing your comment that you enjoy the food and we hope to see you back again soon.

My mother stayed at Groveland Park for 3 weeks following a stay in hospital. She entered the home incredibly weak under weight unable to do most simple tasks for herself. During her stay, she made incredible progress. 3 weeks later she had put on weight began walking again and was able to return to
her house. During her stay, we enjoyed the facilities. Grovelands let us use the cinema room to celebrate a belated Christmas as my mother had missed Christmas whilst being in hospital.
We were also treated to a magic show as the Carehome were holding an event that evening. The staff were extremely accommodating and we enjoyed drinks from the bistro and enjoyed celebrating Christmas.
My aunt is also a resident at the Carehome and we also were able to celebrate her birthday at the same. It was the first time the whole family had been together for over a year it was a very special, memorable evening.
Reply from Caroline Cheeseman, Manager at Groveland Park Care HomeThank you for your review. Hospital stays can be very challenging, but knowing that we were able to assist your Mother in getting back to better health and back on her feet enabling her to go back home, meant a lot to us too. Seeing the whole family together was a joy for us and being able to facilitate these special times is a pleasure and a privilege. I shall pass on your review to the whole team here at Groveland Park.

Mum seemed more cheerful this morning, the ladies made us drinks in the bistro bar whilst we played games. The bistro bar has been refurbished to a high standard and having a coffee there feels like having a drink in a hotel lounge. One thing I would query is that dogs don't seem to be allowed in the
bistro bar and I would consider this a retrograde step. My mum always liked dogs and it would be good for her to interact with our dog and other residents and family dogs. Overall we are very happy with the service. Fine dining is an excellent concept and we really enjoyed it just before Christmas.
Reply from Caroline Cheeseman, Manager at Groveland Park Care HomeThank you for your review of our care home. I am pleased to hear that you are happy with our service and that your visits to our newly refurbished Bistro are enjoyed by you and your Mum. The fine dining experience is a wonderful way to spend time together as a family. We welcome all feedback for a chance to improve our service to meet individual expectations. We welcome family pets to our home with measures in place to meet requirements, I have discussed this with the team and look forward to discussing this personally with you.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.628)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.628) out of 10 for Groveland Park Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 35 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.628 for Groveland Park Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (303 Excellents x 5) + (62 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (10 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 395 Ratings = 4.628
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Groveland Park Care Home is based on 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11, which has been reached with 32 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
