Fees are subject to a pre-admission needs assessment which is required to fully understand the level
of care and support required by each individual. Premium rooms normally require an additional charge.
Nursing fees include the Funded Nursing Contribution (FNC) if you are eligible.

Please note, the weekly fee does not include hairdressing, chiropody or other healthcare visits or
appointments not covered by the NHS, toiletries, newspapers or magazines, any over the counter
medications that a GP wouldn’t normally prescribe such as paracetamol and indigestion relief, and any
other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply
an agreed hourly charge for this service.
These prices are only a guideline, please contact Cairdean House to find out the exact price for your requirements.
If you choose a care home based in Scotland, you may be eligible for the Scottish Government's Free Personal Care funding of up to £248.70 per week (if you are over the age of 65) and Free Nursing Care funding of up to £111.90 per week. This support is is not reflected in this fee amount.

It is great to hear that you are pleased with the choice of seating areas and communal spaces we have at Cairdean House, as well as the caring support team that we have in place. We appreciate your comments around activities and we are happy to know that you agree we currently provide a good variety of options for residents. We are always continually working to improve our activity offering, and always strive to ensure activities are planned around each resident’s interests, including if an individual would prefer a smaller group activity. Our lifestyle team are currently working on putting together a weekly schedule for each floor that will allow for smaller group activities and better interaction. Residents will be able to see what is happening on each floor to allow them to choose any activity they would like to attend.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for Cairdean House - we were very happy to read your positive comments regarding your husband’s care. Regarding staffing changes, we are always working on this and I’m pleased to say that since your review we have recruited a very experienced team leader to lead the team on your husband’s unit. However, we do take your concerns seriously and will pass your comments to the home manager, particularly your comments around bathing. The activities we plan are organised alongside feedback and requests from residents, and there’s always a lot of variety and fun. We recognise that your husband attends a number of our planned activities, including sporting memories, and enjoys the entertainers that come to visit. The team will be more than happy to take your husband to our monthly church service and we can assure you that this feedback has been passed to the team and home manager. If there are any other particular activities that your husband would enjoy on a weekly basis that is not currently offered, of course, let us know at any time and we will be happy to get it added. We take all feedback very seriously and although the vast majority of reviews for Cairdean House are incredibly positive, where an individual is unhappy with any aspect of their experience at the home, we will always work closely with them and their family to do all we can to ensure we’re delivering the best possible service that’s tailored to their needs and wishes of the resident.
I understand that our internal complaints department are already in direct communication with you regarding the points noted below; however, I would like to reassure you that in regard to your comments about staffing, that we have enough team members on hand at all times to ensure that the home is safe and that residents are well cared for, including during the night and at weekends. There are occasions, for example, to cover holidays, staff illness, or whilst we are recruiting, where we do have to utilise agency staff, but we always try to keep this to a minimum. We currently do have some vacancies for team members at the home and are actively looking to fill these roles, and in the meantime where we are using agency staff, we are making sure we book individuals where possible that we have already used in the home so that residents already know and are happy with them.

Thank you for your positive comments about Cairdean House, in particular, your excellent score for care and support. With regards to the manager meeting residents, we would like to reassure you that our home manager spends a lot of time with residents. She tries to vary her time throughout the home so that she is out early morning, at meals and evening times and as such, she may not always see relatives when they visit. However, her door is always open and welcomes you to pop in, say hello and have a chat if you wish. We are sorry to hear that the food offering does not meet with your expectations. Our menus are rotated every 3 weeks and changed four times a year at the start of a new season. At every mealtime, we offer two choices as well as a variety of omelettes, jacket potatoes and baguettes. If there is something particular your relative fancies to eat, then our chef will certainly try his best to serve it. We take great care in planning our menus. Our chef is currently working on our second winter menu and we will be holding tasting sessions with residents so that they can help us decide the final menus.

Job Title: Home Manager
I’m proud to be home manager at Cairdean House care home. I’ve been a qualified nurse for over 40 years and have managed care homes for the past 18 years. Along the way, I’ve completed my SVQ 4 in management, all mandatory training and hold certificates in working with children with special needs and in inclusion skills.
I chose to work at Care UK because of its strong reputation as a good company. In my role, it’s important to be open, honest, organised and to have a good sense of humour. Having strong listening skills and responding to issues in a timely manner is essential.
My favourite part of the day is walking around the home, chatting with staff, residents and relatives, and looking for ways to continue improving our environment. One of my proudest achievements was commissioning a care home from a building site into a luxury care setting.
It’s incredibly rewarding to see residents enjoying some well-deserved self-care, feeling happy and getting involved in activities. It’s also great to receive good ratings from external and internal inspections.
Outside of work, I enjoy music, singing and spending time with my granddaughter.
