Review from Peter R (Brother of Resident) published on 7 February 2023 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My brother has been a resident at Latimer Court for the last two years until his passing. He needed nursing care from the outset for a badly broken shoulder that would not mend, and other disabilities including progressive dementia and loss of all mobility towards the end. Both the general and nursing care that he has received has been exemplary, as has any necessary communication with staff and management as I live in Surrey. Whenever I have visited I have found the facilities spotless and the staff welcoming, informative and helpful. I am extremely grateful for their tolerance, kindness and professionalism and have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending this care home.

Mum found her way to Latimer Court after an emergency placement. Mum had dementia and had hardly left the house prior to her referral. The home is like a 5* hotel, the lounges are beautifully decorated with comfortable chairs, sofas and fireplaces, and there are plenty of books and DVDs etc for the residents to engage with. The dining facilities in each unit are bespoke and open to residents and visitors, at all times for drinks.

She settled in amazingly quickly and the staff had an amazing bond with her in no time at all, She loved a particular member of staff who Mum called her best friend and spent time with the lovely lady who organises the activities. I visited at all different times of the day and early evening and was always pleased to see that the facilities were immaculately clean and the staff were always so friendly and the residents were beautifully presented. Special thanks go to the manager and her team who moved heaven and earth to ensure Mum's last few days were spent as she wanted them.

My brother was in the care of Latimer Court for a very short while, at all times he and I were treated with the utmost kindness and care. He could not have received better attention anywhere. He died with dignity and compassion from the staff. I will always be glad that I chose Latimer Court, the atmosphere of a very caring home was striking.

I cannot speak highly enough about the care that my mother received at Latimer Court. It was heartbreaking to have her admitted, but the staff quickly won our trust. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them and every request is met with willingness. The layout and facilities are excellent for a patient with Dementia, and we quickly realised how much safer mum was than in her own home. The staff are so caring and ensured that mum was always involved in appropriate activities, even in the later stages of Dementia.
The staff are meticulous and communicate brilliantly with family. Latime Court is clean and hygienic. The maintenance staff are excellent, the food is tasty and varied and the hairdresser is a gem.
The GP is always on hand, so medical care is more accessible than at home.

The turning point for me was when I arrived unannounced and could see my mum in the distance. The carer with her didn't know who I was, but she was treating mum as tenderly as if she had been her own grandmother.

We are thrilled you feel happy and reassured in the care and services we give to your mother, thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. I will pass your wonderful feedback on to the whole team and our hairdresser.

My wife suffered from vascular dementia and was admitted in May 2022 and stayed until she passed away in October 2022. During that time the staff provided excellent care. Nothing was too much trouble and any request was dealt with immediately. I was impressed by the standard of cleanliness and maintenance throughout the building. Personal hygiene needs and medical care were well provided. My wife was always in freshly laundered clothing. In the five months that my wife was living in Latimer Court I was totally satisfied with the level of care provided by all the staff.

My mum was a resident at Latimer Coury for three years suffering from Alzheimer's disease. From her entry into the home, all the staff provided her with great care, humour and affection. At the end of her life, the care of the staff members was exemplary. I cannot praise their efforts highly enough, and I shall always beg grateful to them.

Would appreciate more care for my husband when visiting in the morning ie, washing and showering regularly, and showing and ensuring that he is wearing clean clothes! Lacking in interesting outside activities - a change of atmosphere does a power of good mentally.

I visit my blind friend regularly and the staff are so very helpful and friendly. I can and do chat to the staff regarding my friend and her needs. My friend receives excellent medical care as well as personal care from everyone there. The Jubilee Weekend was a real success and I can only say that everyone there went over and above to make sure that everyone was able to join in with the celebrations.

Latimer Court is a first class care home because the hard working staff from top to bottom make it so.

My father became a resident (nursing facility) at Latimer Court in Sept 2020. From the phone calls I made to confirm details for his travel/move, to his arrival, everyone was polite and extremely helpful. On arrival, all staff were very kind and helpful in settling my father into his room. The room was immaculately clean and tidy and offered everything one would need, especially a great size en-suite, all of good quality.
It was the happiest I'd seen/heard my father in a long time, his first words the next morning were 'it was the best nights sleep he'd had in a long time'. He settled in very quickly and always said how lovely and efficient everyone was and the variety of menu choice was fantastic!

Unfortunately, he became very ill (due to medical problems) and all I can say is that the staff in all areas were more than fantastic. I never felt/or had the need to keep calling as I was updated with details most days. I would not hesitate in recommending Latimer Court. Thank you.

Sadly my wife passed away 28th April 2020.

This was obviously during lockdown and I was unable to be with my wife at the end. The nurse on duty on that day and staff made the most devastating time of my life as pain-free and as bearable as they possibly could. I am in awe of their dedication, skill, loyalty, professionalism etc. I could go on, the staff are all angels spelt with a capital A. If worth were measured in pounds sterling the staff would all be rich. I will never forget the love, the tender care, the attention to detail shown to my wife in her almost 3 years at Latimer Court. From myself and my family our sincere and heartfelt thanks.

An incident occurred in Woodbury Lounge on 4th February. Approximately 10-12 residents (all 3 units) were enjoying joining in when one of the residents collapsed and fell, shaking violently for 3 minutes. He was put in the recovery position. Doctors, by chance, were on the same floor and he checked on the patient. The remaining residents, some of them quite vulnerable, sat quietly and then were ushered by the activities people next door, where the lesson continued. They care, no tears, or panic. The staff, nurses, carers, activity coordinators behaved very professionally. Well done!
