Mum came here straight from hospital following RTA and multiple injuries. Rapid, efficient assessment and transfer. Made to feel very welcome and mum settled quickly. Has taken a little while to deal with all mum's problems and co-ordinate with GP and hospital but aware of multiple nature of mum's injuries. Lovely staff who have developed a good relationship with mum and got to know her. Nursing care very good and attention given to fluids and nutrition.

Bowes House is a warm and friendly place with a great team and atmosphere. The team worked really hard to ensure Mum's every need was met. Mum had a beautiful room with an en suite wet room, she had a lovely view over the fields. Mum enjoyed socialising with other residents and also using the hair salon and beautician on a weekly basis. The food was excellent with a good menu choice each day. By the end of her stay at Bowes House Mum had regained her confidence and was able to return to independent living in her own home. Thank you to all the team for making Mum's time at Bowes House so happy. Bowes House is like a 5 star hotel with care.

I was a bit apprehensive about leaving my husband here and yes it took a while for him to settle, but after a couple of weeks he looks really well. This respite break has certainly relaxed him. There are opportunities here for him to participate if he's interested. The activities member of staff is brilliant with the way she encourages the residents.

My mother had a series of small strokes and after searching for a home I found Bowes House. The care has been one of excellent. Staff are constant in their care and genuine affection for my mother. Since moving into the nursing section my mother has regained her health so now she is in the residential part.

She loves the activities and talks fondly of everyone there. I really can recommend this home, it is expensive but seeing how my mother has regained her zest for life again - it is worth it.

My mother has been a resident of Bowes House since 7th February 2015. At first for several months she found it difficult to settle in as she has always been so independent. However she is very settled and joins in all the activities that are available.

Mum came here from 5 weeks in hospital where she had lost a lot of weight and wasn't eating. The care in Bowes House has been fantastic. The staff are caring and sensitive. Mum liked the food and felt very secure. I cannot thank everybody enough.

On the whole I am more than satisfied with my mum's care and her well-being, as a resident of Bowes House. I do have some minor concerns with her care in relation to a pressure sore she developed last year. I cannot fault the nursing care she received I just feel that ever since this sore developed, the home has been extremely over cautious about her time out of bed, which has had a possible detrimental effect on her happiness and well-being by interacting with the other residents. She has to have a gluten free diet due to suffering with this and I feel the diet options are a bit limited.

Finlin MartinJob Title:Home Manager

I am a highly experienced Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife, qualified in India in 1993, with over three decades of diverse clinical and leadership experience across India, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom.

In 2015, a deeply personal experience - caring for my mother during her battle with cancer - became a turning point in my career. Following her passing, I chose to transition from hospital-based care into the nursing home sector, wanting to improve the quality of life for older people. Over the past 11 years, I have worked as a Home Manager and Peripatetic Manager across groups of nursing homes, specialising in complex care including brain injuries, learning disabilities, and dementia.

I remain deeply passionate about elderly care, taking pride in providing personalised support. Each day, I value having meaningful engagement with residents, especially those without regular visitors, and I believe in maintaining dignity, compassion, and respect in every interaction.
