Fees are subject to a pre-admission needs assessment which is required to fully understand the level
of care and support required by each individual. Premium rooms normally require an additional charge.
Nursing fees include the Funded Nursing Contribution (FNC) if you are eligible. There are no additional fees for respite stays.

other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply an agreed hourly charge for this service.

Mum came here from 5 weeks in hospital where she had lost a lot of weight and wasn't eating. The care in Bowes House has been fantastic. The staff are caring and sensitive. Mum liked the food and felt very secure. I cannot thank everybody enough.

On the whole I am more than satisfied with my mum's care and her well-being, as a resident of Bowes House. I do have some minor concerns with her care in relation to a pressure sore she developed last year. I cannot fault the nursing care she received I just feel that ever since this sore developed,
the home has been extremely over cautious about her time out of bed, which has had a possible detrimental effect on her happiness and well-being by interacting with the other residents. She has to have a gluten free diet due to suffering with this and I feel the diet options are a bit limited.

I’m passionate about my role and the home.


I like to see lots of smiles and interaction with staff and residents. A good working day for me is to know that I have given my all to my team and to residents, knowing that they have all had a good day and that the care they’ve received has been the best.


Before joining, I’d worked in independent care homes for ten years. I wanted to stay in the care sector while developing my skills and career. Care UK really helps you to progress.


I think my proudest moments at Care UK were being nominated for the Team Leader of the Year award in the Care UK Residential Care Services Awards, and then being promoted to my current role.
