I stayed at Bowes for 1 month while my family went on holiday. It worked out so well as they could go away without worry. The home is very central with everything on hand. The staff made me feel welcome and at home. The added bonus of stay at Bowes was that my dear husband is also a resident so it gave us a months holiday together.

The service and attention that we received from the staff at Wealden in Bowes House was absolutely first class.
Nothing was too much trouble, day or night and the care and quality we received was first class.
My husband was treated with total care at all times. They fed us and made sure that we are and looked after ourselves.

Thank you once again, Bowes House you are all stars.

During a very emotional/stressful time watching my Dad lose his battle against cancer, I can honestly say we couldn't have experienced a more friendly, helpful, courteous service from all the staff.

They were absolutely amazing, we couldn't have asked for any more. This was much appreciated. Thank you so much.

At a difficult time, I was concerned about my Grandad going into a care home, but I was completely wrong. Bowes House was outstanding; such a friendly and welcoming place. My Grandad didn't have long left and we got a call one night to go there immediately. 4 days later, we hadn't left..

Bowes House provided us with food, blankets, somewhere to sleep so that we didn't have to leave. We never expected that treatment. Their generosity made such a horrible time a bit more bearable. Their actions meant my nan got one last night next to her husband and we were with him as he took his last breath.

I visit a resident twice a week and find the staff to be caring and competent. There are many activities for the residents to enjoy and they appear to be happy. I could recommend Bowes House to anyone and often do!

My husband has received excellent care during his stay at Bowes House. He arrived from the hospital in need of respite care, having been bedfast for a month. He is now able to stand and walk a little way and his appetite has improved. The standard of food is very good with plenty of choices. I have been very pleased with the general ambience of Bowes House - it is modern and clean but homely and relaxed too. All the care staff have been kind and helpful and have met all his needs with great cheerfulness.

Our dad, who has Alzheimer's and dementia care at Bowes House 2 years ago and his care has been exemplary. He's now very frail and receiving full-time nursing care. Surrounded by what feels like a group of sweet angels who give him the most amazing care and respect. All the carers are incredibly kind, thoughtful and professional and extremely sensitive to our feelings to dad in his last few days now and it makes such a huge difference knowing he couldn't be better cared for. Thank you.

My father is being looked after in a way which I could not fault. Without fail all of the staff are kind, considerate and warm-hearted. My father is in the past stages of life and could not be treated with more dignity and respect. I will forever feel grateful to the staff of Bowes House.

I have absolutely no hesitation in awarding 'Excellent' for everything below, such was the consistently superb level of care and support afforded to my mum during her (approximately) five months in Bowes House. The staff have been unfailingly professional, compassionate, so caring, sensitive, friendly and cheerful; they not only looked after mum magnificently but also supported our family equally wonderfully.

I cannot praise highly enough the magnificent care and support given to my father-in-law by the staff at Bowes House. In addition, to those who worked most closely with him, mention has to be made of the staff more generally (all appeared to know him and speak fondly of him) not least for the kindness, good cheer, sensitivity and generous time we as a family were lucky enough to receive.

Following a period of respite last year, my mother-in-law decided that she would like to move to Bowes House on a permanent basis in November 2016. The whole process has been remarkably easy. Mum was offered a wonderful room on the ground floor and commented that she felt at home. The staff, without exception, have all been super efficient and very, very kind. Nothing is too much trouble. It is a service of reassurance for my wife and myself that all of Mum's needs are being met in a very caring environment.

Bowes House provided excellent care and support for my father during his last days. We were particularly impressed by the premises and the staff. The management and staff were outstanding.
I was surprised that individual food likes could be catered for. The parking was difficult during busy visiting periods.

Overall I would not hesitate in recommending Bowes House.

Bowes House has the advantage of being purpose built and that shows in the quality of the rooms and supporting areas and the thoughtful preservation of part of the original Lynn brewery.

I had always commented to my late Mother-in-Law that it truly was like a hotel with a proper reception and public areas including Lynn's Cafe where tea, coffee, cake and biscuits are always available. The provided rooms easily match those provided in quality hotels. Large, airy well planned and en suite.

She was resident just under 18 months and thrived by being at Bowes House. It was a real pleasure to see her content and enjoying her life.

Throughout that time at Bowes House there was 'the team' providing her nursing care, activity support, hotel services and administration to enable her to enjoy her life. I interacted with key members on a regular basis and the professionalism and humanity shown by them was exemplary particularly during her end of life care.

Whenever I visit mum I have always found there to be a very calm atmosphere. It feels more like a hotel as you come in. The staff are very caring and friendly. Mum seems very settled here which is great and I have told my family that if I ever need to go in a home I would like it to be like this one.

My mother suddenly became immobile and needed respite care. The staff at the Bowes House home in Hailsham are extremely helpful, welcoming us on an initial visit and admitting my mother as soon as they could. The GP quickly diagnosed and treated her condition and she is now fully recovered.

Thank you to all at Bowes House - we are most grateful, and by the way it is a wonderful environment, modern, clean and comfortable.

Finlin MartinJob Title:Home Manager

I am a highly experienced Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife, qualified in India in 1993, with over three decades of diverse clinical and leadership experience across India, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom.

In 2015, a deeply personal experience - caring for my mother during her battle with cancer - became a turning point in my career. Following her passing, I chose to transition from hospital-based care into the nursing home sector, wanting to improve the quality of life for older people. Over the past 11 years, I have worked as a Home Manager and Peripatetic Manager across groups of nursing homes, specialising in complex care including brain injuries, learning disabilities, and dementia.

I remain deeply passionate about elderly care, taking pride in providing personalised support. Each day, I value having meaningful engagement with residents, especially those without regular visitors, and I believe in maintaining dignity, compassion, and respect in every interaction.
