Always made to feel comfortable, staff and everyone very friendly, everything is 10/10 except sometimes the food which needs some work but most of this is nice.
Thank you very much for taking the time to submit your review; we're really happy to see your high scores and to read your kind comments about the friendly team here. In regards to the food at the home, you'll be very pleased to hear that we have recently recruited a new Head Chef here at Anning...
There cannot be a better care home in every respect. When my husband and I required care, Anning House was recommended very highly and so we have experienced excellent care in every way and are thankful to be here. Our individual rooms are all that we could have asked for. The staff are very courteous and caring, with a very friendly attitude. We could not have found a better home.
Came to Anning House following bouts in the hospital and other medical problems. I went home for 1 day but ended up back in hospital. Family decision was taken to return to Anning House on a permanent basis. I came in May/June 2022 for 1 month and have been here ever since. The care and support I have received from all the amazing staff is second to none, everyone goes the extra mile no matter what my needs are. Catering and housekeeping departments are friendly and nothing is too much trouble for dietary needs. The general carers are exactly what their title says, carers, and very good at their jobs.
I worked as a medical social worker for twenty-five years and I was extremely satisfied with everything in Anning House Care Home. The welcome reception, the room, activities, menus and especially the care my husband received. He was happy during his stay. I shall be more than happy, if I need a break, to know, with confidence, that he will be cared for.
Dad is happy and safe and enjoys the daily interaction and attention.
Thank you.
Always happy to see and talk to his visitors.
My mother has been at Anning House on the memory care floor for two years and I could not be happier with her care. When she was sick the nurses communicated with me every step of the way and ensured she had appropriate care. The medical care has been excellent, particularly in managing her dementia. All carers and nurses have demonstrated sensitive, patient and compassionate care helping her to feel settled content and loved. Well done Anning House.
The house is always clean and smart. When a friend and I visited prior to placing Mum, we both said if it was a hotel, we'd have stayed. I still feel like this eight months later.
My father also moved into Anning House but sadly only lasted three nights before heart failure saw him off. At the time, we were hugely well supported and I take comfort from the fact that Dad was not alone when he died and that he was treated with the utmost dignity in his last few, crotchety, days. I will forever be grateful for this.
Anning House is a pleasure to visit and live in. It is light and airy, easy access along corridors, plenty of activity and quiet lounges. Beautiful pictures along the walls and nice furniture (no suitable footstools). The facilities are amazing in that the timetable for activities is innovative, changing every week from singing, crafts, outings, pat dogs and alpacas, quizzes and many more! The chef creates incredible mouth-watering meals, such a variety.
Having experienced other care homes in the Weymouth area we decided to use Anning House as an alternative. The house was known to my father prior to taking up residency. It displays as a modern, clean and well-kept facility. Staff are polite, friendly and have a good working knowledge of residents in their care. A good experience so far and thank you.
Very professional and caring team, providing assurance to my father and the family. Always has a lovely atmosphere and welcoming.
The assessment meeting was done with care and respect at my aunt's home. Both of the staff were kind, friendly and supportive of the process. When we arrived at the home it felt welcoming and reassuring. The environment is beautiful, the room fresh and clean and there was so much happening in the various public areas. I have visited many care homes in a variety of areas and Anning House is by far and away is the best environment I have seen.
My mother-in-law is really enjoying her time here, she is well looked after and has lovely meals. Her room is amazing and she really enjoys spending time in the lovely gardens. We love to visit her and enjoy a coffee with her in the garden too.
Can't fault the patient and compassionate care my mum gets here at Anning House. Nothing is too much trouble from assisting with self-care to arranging hospital appointments, it's so reassuring for us as relatives. The food is excellent and the activities varied. The facilities provide meeting spaces outside of my mum's bedroom - we particularly enjoy the cafe and garden. Smiley receptionists complete the helpful team. Thank you.
Mum needed to come in to have respite care to help my dad as he is poorly. The staff and the care home has been absolutely spot-on for mum and her needs. Mum has thoroughly enjoyed herself and has made some wonderful memories and lovely new friends. Everyone has been so welcoming and pleasant and sets up a wonderful atmosphere and place to come and stay. As mum is quite young coming into the care setting, the staff have been incredible to accommodate for keeping mum happy, stimulated, pampered, and involved. At times mum has been given some responsibility to help keep an eye on other residents and this has by far boosted mum's self-esteem. Thank you Anning House for welcoming mum in, she has really enjoyed her stay and we will definitely look at coming back for further respite care when it is needed.
My mother was at Anning House formerly Gracewell, from October 2020 - to May 2022 when she passed away. We extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to all the staff for the outstanding above and beyond care they gave to mum. Not only did they take care of her, but they also took care of me as well, something I am eternally grateful for. Her time at Anning House was during the outbreak of Covid. A time that can only be described as extremely difficult and challenging. They all worked tirelessly to ensure the safety of our loved ones and provided them with the opportunities to see their families and have that most precious, needed contact with them. Anning house is exceptional. Care UK are incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful dedicated team of people, who give nothing short of a World Class Service to the residents their families, and each other. They are second to none. My family would have no hesitation in saying if you want the best for your loved ones then Anning House is the best.
Highly recommend!
The only small downfall - maintenance - takes months to get a job seen to, you ask relevant staff/management, they are all keen to get started but the jobs do take a long time. We have been waiting since November 2021 for the loo to be fixed and the dripping tap and a painting took 2 months to put up.
Thank you for your review – myself and the team are so happy to read your kind comments. In regards to maintenance I understand the toilet has been fixed but if it still causing issues please can you let us know and of course we’ll be happy to look at this and any other maintenance issues again and...
It has taken a little while to settle in but I have been extremely well looked after and cared for. The staff are all so friendly and deeply caring.
Anning House is a modern, purpose-built care home with excellent facilities. My mother spent 3 months there in early 2022 after a fall and hospital stay. She did not adapt well to a care home in spite of the care and dignity provided by the staff. As a result, she did not mix and spent most time in her room and bed. The room and en-suite were perfectly comfortable and had access to the garden although the layout might be improved to be able to view the garden easily. Mother developed an overall infection and further back pain which resulted in a new hospital stay. On discharge, we arranged to admit her to a different care home closer to relatives where nursing standard care was also available. She now requires this level of care due to mobility issues. Anning House gives quality care but appears to have staffing shortages and employs several agency staff. Whilst this is a current problem in the care sector it does mean that staff seem overworked with a lack of continuity.
Thank you for taking the time to write your review – we were very happy to hear your kind comments about the excellent facilities and quality of care for residents at Anning House. I would like to reassure you, as we were a little surprised by your concerns and wanted to set your mind at rest, that...
I cannot speak more highly of this outstanding nursing home where my mother has been happily residing for 16 months. She has always been treated with dignity, kindness and respect. The staff are highly skilled and professional and the medical cover has been excellent. Whenever I visit I am met with warmth and kindness by all members of staff and I have been offered support when needed. There is always a warm happy atmosphere and there are plenty of activities and good food. The facilities are excellent with purpose-built ensuite bedrooms, pleasant lounges and a beautiful garden. Nothing seems too much trouble for the staff who are prepared to go the extra mile when needed. This nursing home came highly recommended to me by more than one source and I have had no regrets moving my mother to Gracewell of Weymouth to whom we owe a great debt of gratitude.
We are thrilled with your positive experience and are so glad your mother has settled in so well to Gracewell of Weymouth. We take great pride in delivering high-quality care and providing facilities to our residents. Your recognition of this is invaluable to our team, thank you.

Meet the Team (1)

I hold my Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management, a diploma in adult nursing, and mentoring qualifications.
I decided to join Anning House because I wanted to be part of a well-respected, larger company that was part of the wider community where I live.
As a Home Manager, it’s important that I have empathy and am able to listen and lead by example. I always want to be a good role model and empower my team and others, treating everyone with respect. I went into nursing to make a difference; this can be a big impact or just the little things that make a difference in someone’s life. I’m still incredibly proud and happy to be able to continue to do this in my career every day.
Although I have a busy role at work, I like to keep busy outside of work too - I love supporting my husband when he’s playing in his band, going to nice restaurants to eat, entertaining family and friends at home, and going to the theatre, especially to see musicals.
